I was never really overly impressed with the US performance in the previous matches but they were clearly a totally different animal in this game. They took the German team completely by surprise and left them slack jawed and flat-footed. Well done USA!

Yeah they were not as good as they usually are. Maybe tired from the long game v France. The US would have been fresher from their previous match, but I think their tactics were spot on and Germany didn't counter that. And subs? They're still a top team though, and US played better than usual, AND lucky calls from the reff!

USA deserved to win. Some of y'all need a reality check. Julie Johnston got a yellow card for a reason. She just put on her hand on the German player's shoulder and slightly pulled her down. NOT a red card. She didn't push or tackle her. Second of all, the foul on Morgan was inside the box. The initial contact was outside the box but the play ended on the line, which is inside the box. It deserves a pk cuz FIFA rules says contact outside the box which ends up inside the box can be called as a pk. Besides, the US dominated pretty much the whole game. If y'all still think Germany got robbed, Sasic missed that penalty kick. That cost them the whole game. First time a German player missed a pk in the World Cup. I guess everyone is scared to go against the US. Oh Well. We gonna win that trophy next game. 🇺🇸
P.S. Alex Morgan played better last night than against China. She had good opportunities to score, but she missed. I guess she still hasn't fully recovered from her injury. But if it wasn't for her speed, she wouldn't have gotten those opportunities. Also, you could've seen she was frustrated when she missed. But she was persistent and patient, and if she didn't attack in the the 67', the US probably would've lost the game. So stop hating on her, cuz she got the pk for the US and Carli Lloyd converted it.

Outstanding win for the ladies and total dominance on the pitch. It was as if the other team had vanished (which makes me question the ranking system). US has superb athletes who train well and follow smart diets thus maximizing their talents. Bravo. I hope in the final we see US vs. England which is another team which has impressed me by its tenacity and style. France vs. USA would have been a terrific final; perhaps we will see in the next world cup.

Both men and women's American soccer leagues have played without fanfare or success much more than the germans. Don't try to discredit them when they actually win and the media finally gets around to covering it.
All my friends play football but no one cares about womens football. Women World Cup is not considered a proper World Cup in Germany. Thats fact... deal with it

USA were the much better team and deserved to go through and they would have scored a couple against most teams in the 1st half but Angerer was amazing, but it's a shame that referee decision is what settled the match in the end.
Everyone probably knows about the outside of the box penalty given to USA and @ 0:40 The USA player was lucky that she was only given a Yellow, normal 1 on 1 goal scoring opportunity's are usually a red.

I have no sympathy for Germany they needed some bad luck after the huge amount of luck they had between them and the French. The penalty decision and that chance right at the end which she missed.

When Germany missed a penalty, it was game over. No top side should miss a penalty at this level. USA did well to sock it to the Germans after that with virtual home ground advantage (they had more supporters). The Americans must be determined to make up for the 2011 loss to Japan.

Why are some people dissing here Germany ? Its fine to me that the USA was or played better ! But let me tell you USA struggled against Sweden 1:1 while Germany beat them 4:1 in the quaterfinals ! Also do not forget Germany went 120 minutes with extra time and penalty shoot out while USA didnt do a brilliant performance against China , barely winning 1:0,! The German team had a in my opinion a great tournament but lack to make it to the finals ! Oh yeah talk about fair play , Hope Solo wont get one with her psycho game she did to Sasic before she went to the penalty box , who is an absolut 100 % penalty killer ! Solo jumped into the wrong corner , Sasic would have just placed it into the left corner , which she did , but missed by 30 cm ! Than that argue on Popps penalty by some US players is also or was not a nice thing to do ! Oh andi forgot the nice gift the US girls received by a penalty which was clearly outside the box , but the referee gave a penalty shoot , nice dive by morgan into the penalty area ! Watching these highlights, and it still hits me how weak the referee was in this game and that USA was god damn lucky with the calls she made. Not saying that the Germans would've beaten the US anyway, but this game was not fair at all where the Germans get punished for stupid mistakes from the referee(s).

Great game from the Americans. Possibly their best game of the tournament so far. The calls here and there are questionable but as they say, that's how the ball bounced.
