This is one of the best videos i’ve watched that clearly explain how and what bridge mode is on a router. Before my internet speed was 20-30 mbps at about a 250 ft distance from the main router, now i’m getting easily 190-210 mbps.
Awesome explanation.. I had run a 100ft ethernet across the floor for a temporary solution until i realized this router could do bridge mode 🤣 I could've been doing this the whole time!
This is the first of many, many videos I have watched about setting up a bridge that makes it so crystal clear it is almost a no-brainer. Thank you so much for your expert advice!!! All the other videos I just gave up on because you had to be a rocket scientist to get anything out of their ramblings. I only hope my Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Model WNDR3700v4 has bridge mode available. Also I noticed you said nothing about disabling DHCP on the secondary router. I am assuming this is not necessary. Probably where I got this was from watching other videos that talked about setting up a secondary router as an access point.
you are a legend mate i've been trying to get this working for months and thanks to you I'm posting this comment from my bridged connection Thank You very much!!!!
Thank you so much - we moved to a new place and the wifi couldn't reach my office in the top corner of the house. Used an extra router and used your video to connect them - works great! Appreciate it!
Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm surprised it was this easy to setup! haha. Look forward to see if I can get it to work on my R8000 with AdvancedTomato. If not, I could always use the stock firmware like you mentioned.
Your video is better than most. Fortunate;y I understand wireless bridging but my question is: How do 'you' configure MU MiMo in a wireless network Bridge? And is MU MiIMO of any benefit on the BRIDGE router }(second router) in this configuration?
Yesterday I watched your Netgear Bridge Mode Setup and today I tried to get into my Netgear router but it originally has the IP address as 192.168.1.1 which is the same as my ISP provided router. This obviously means I cannot get logged onto my Netgear to make the necessary changes for it to become a bridge. I have tried everything I can think of. From disconnecting my wireless signal from my ISP router or having both routers connected. My desktop computer is only able to get the internet signal wirelessly from my ISP provided router. So with this wireless signal coming in and my Netgear connected I cannot see my Netgear via doing the ipconfig in command prompt. I have even reset my Netgear multiple times. I am totally at a loss as how to get into my Netgear to first change its IP (assuming this must be done) and most important to setup the bridge. I even connected my Netgear with my laptop set to no wifi and still no good. I could not see my Netgear via the ipconfig on my laptop. I am hoping someone has an answer.
So will this work for all Netgear router so like my main router is the Netgear nighthawk R7800 and wanted to have the second router 225 feet away and the second on is Netgear will just say it's your router R7000 will they Link up or do they have to be the same R7800 with a R7800????? Thanks 👍
Any idea why my router isn’t displaying the “Router / AP / Bridge / Repeating Mode” setting? All I have is VLAN / Bridge settings at the bottom and it doesn’t have the same interface as you have
I am getting no internet on the secondary R7000 in bridge mode. It seems it's not connecting to my WiFi network as I don't see it in the list there. I have an Edge Router X as my router, connecting via Ethernet through a dumb switch to my AP, Ubiquity AC-Pro. Other devices are connected to the WiFi, but the R7000 when configured into Bridge mode is not passing through the internet to the wired devices... Been trying to solve this for 8 hours today any help is very appreciated.
Can you do this setup to have the secondary router as an access point ... so you can get wireless connectivity also? This video is great ... do you have one on a wireless access point setup?
Did you find any answers on your question? AP and also have wifi? Mine is worki In AP mode but with no wifi, only Ethernet. I am also wondering- thanks
Hello, I've successfully turned my Netgear router to bridge mode. My question is can I hook up the cable from the bridge router to another Netgear router (Wan port) and create a subnet through that 2nd router? So basically at my business, the landlord is providing Wifi, if I connect all my devices through that Wifi, then my neighbors are able to see the devices, like cameras, printers, etc. I don't want them exposed. So is it possible to hide them if I created that LAN behind the wifi bridge?
This didnt help me after a point. i have set my secondary into bridge mode but i do not get any internet access. when in bridge mode under the ADVANCED tab in the genie there is Administration then Gateway Status - this shows a screen showing the status of for example Wireless Settings 2.4gh and wireless settings 5GHz Both of then are RED EXES because once in bridge mode, wireless no longer is active on router 2. So how do i connect router 2 to MAIN router wirelessly WITH NO CABLES ?
I have an Asus modem router DSL-AX82U . It has Iptv bridge and tagged to LAN1 ethernet port for my iptv box. I can only watch iptv via ethernet cable to port 1 . Can I convert this connection with media bridge ? How should I carry LAN1 to another router and connect to my IPTV? Thank you.

@@DreamlandUSA quick question I have a ST 302-08 8-port 10/100 managed switch could that switch use to power ip cameras? Cause I tried but they won't power up.
I see that you connected first to your ISP router using 192.168.0.1 and then when you finished getting the SSID & password from your primary (ISP) router you then logged into your secondary router also using 192.168.0.1. This does not make sense. Why when you have both routers available to see on your laptop and you type in 192.168.0.1 does your system know to go to the secondary IP? This is what I was saying in my previous comment that when I type in 192.168.1.1 it either goes to my primary (ISP) router if my wifi is on or shows that connection to the supposed secondary router is not available (as if it does not exist) when I turn off my wifi (this I do to get the primary to not be seen)? Perhaps I need to unplug my ISP router from power and then I may be able to see my Netgear when I enter 192.168.1.1
Login to your Primary Router, and from the list of Devices Connected within DHCP pool, this WirelessBridge auto assigned IP address shall be traceable. The IP address can then be used to access the SecondaryRouter GUI . (you may want to set to 'Reserved' the IP exclusively static to this SecondaryRouter in the DHCP list, for ease in the future)

Get another router and connect it into one of the outputs of the Bridge mode router. You'll have 3 routers total.
Most probably to do
WDS Bridging or alternatively, Repeater Mode.
ty so much, i spend the whole fucking day trying to conect my router and nothing, then i find ur video and .... damm MAN TY SO MUCH
It’s pleasure to know it worked for you !
Does it have to be the same routers ?
do router need to be of the same model and manufacturer? because mine does not work and they are different

Xvortex firmvare ,setings, repiter mode, and get wifi and lan ports working,no cable
My nighthawk r8300 doesn’t have the “router/ bridge/ extender” option. It only says “ap”.
If you are still looking, on my R8500, it is at the bottom of that menu, and it says "Use other operation mode". Then you click "Enable Bridge mode".

I have that screen but I don’t see Bridgewood mood. I have a brand new router and ask what I’m doing wrong.

Nice explanation. one question , if AP mode other devices can connect thru LAN and wifi to secondary Router , can we in Bridge mode ?
In AP mode other devices can connect through Lan and WiFi both. But in bridge mode devices can be connected only using lan

You need to do network scan and find ip of your router
Hi, the output from second router is only wired. I was expecting it to be wireless as well
That is repeater mode that connects two routers wirelessly and at the same time enables another hotspot to connect wirelessly

Yes you can add additional router on secondary and make a new access point

Into terminal. And make sure there is a space before the "-a".
