All very well increasing the boost but most owners upgrade the charger cooling matrixes to finish the job. Failure to do this with the extra power makes it go into limp mode at high power settings. Love my 55. Awesome car. Reasonable to fix yourself but horrendous if taken to dealers 👍✅
Yup was about to say that, the stock supercharger cooling system is inadequate even on a stock car, increasing boost will make it worse, it’s a must do. Adding long tube headers and a proper tune turns it into an absolute beast!
Spot on. I've watched a lot of tube re the M113K engine. Everyone who has just put on the smaller pulley has either had their engine blow or stopped putting up vids. I will put on a VRP V2 Heat Exchanger, the split cooling kit. and the airbox spacers and then get the car dyno tuned at stock boost levels. I've been assured this will net comfortably over 500hp and get the boost coming on a bit sooner. the most I will do is get a stock sized pulley without a clutch so it operates at all times.
@@lord_jagged all agreed but I’ve found that removing the clutch with a fixed pulley makes the gears in blower very noisy, sounds like the blower is eating itself it’s horrible
@@rlscustoms Thanks Muchly Richie Rich This is they type of thing you can only learn by experiencing it thanks for saving me the time, money and effort. I'll stick with my original plan now.

Of course the aforementioned supercharger cooling system is mandatory. No need for crazy boost pressure the long tube headers alone release about 50Hp by themselves. Car will be an absolute beast.

I have the CLS 55 AMG 2006 with this engine and suspension. Please tell us the OBD unit you used to get the rodeo test. it would be handy for me to be able to test the work I pay for at my local Merc dealer in South Australia
The CLS has an air suspension like the E class. The S class was available with both air and hydraulic suspension, with the AMG models being hydraulic only and the CL and SL of the era came with only the hydraulic suspension. The AIRMATIC air suspension doesn´t rodeo like the ABC hydraulic suspension and it has no reason to.
Autel would be the first choice to access all those type of features in general. That's what most independent shops use. But not a $100, you'd rather have to spend a $1000-$1500 and up or find a good used one.
Hi, I also have a cls55, like others said it doesn't use this old hydraulic system. The icarsoft tool will get accesss to everything you practically need and it's very cheap. No need for autel or any expensive tool unless you're trying to change coding or stuff like that.
Just to be clear they should go to jail for replacing one side of the suspension dampers. you just don't do that. Btw rest of those dampers will be broken pretty soon co basically 50% of the original used price of the car would be replacing the shocks for next owner.
I sold my CL55 AMG due to the fear that the suspension would fail. It was brilliantly fast and handled very well but the suspension hand grenade just finally scared me off.
One of the best classic supercars you can buy. Yes, using the term supercar as it was back in its day. Whilst they can be picked up for a nice price... they can be absolutely terrifying if it hasn't been maintained. With SL55's It's better to spend a bit more money and get the best example you can afford, with good service history... Although, anything can happen and try to buy an aftermarket warranty.
Replacing the pulley is a dumb thing to do. The engine will overheat and will jump into "limp mode". And you will jeopardize the reliability of the engine, the transmission, the differential, etc. Not to mention the safety of the car. The SL55 is already overpowered for its chassis.
Small dick symptoms 😂 This is most common mistakes with m113k upgrade pulley for couple bucks and then whine about when car goes to limp mode because it’s overheating and that’s the only good news . And all because you were cheap 😂

Yes, very expensive to maintain indeed. And everything seems to break on it. My car is 20 years old and I've only put 50K miles on it, yet the hydraulics, bushings, exhaust system, roof mechanism, gas tank, stereo system, electronics, etc... I love my cls550…..would love to find a way to strap a supercharger onto her!!!…..had to replace a front air strut maybe 6 months ago…it was actually fairly simple
Hey guys instead of messing with the hydraulic suspension you can just delete it with coil overs. There’s aftermarket solutions that only cost around 4000$ US to delete this entire system. Problem solved. That’s what I did with mine.
