I live in an apartment complex in Tempe, AZ. We have a mail room with package lockers, but they only fit small or medium-sized packages. Every time I get a package that the post office deems to large to fit in the box I have to go and pick it up. I've never been able to get a good explanation of why they won't deliver it to my door like EVERY other package service does. FedEx, UPS, DHL, Amazon... all delivered to my doorstep. Therefore, I do everything in my power to AVOID giving the USPS my business! I'm guessing I'm not the only one...
They already have a package only line and that is the one that is stretching around the corner in the video lol. A short wait at this office is 1 hour, you better mark off 2 hours at least if you plan on actually getting your package. They need like 2-3 package only lines since they have so many times that the mail carriers refuse to actually attempt to deliver the package. Maybe they drive off from the post office park the truck somewhere, get drunk at a bar and then drive back at the end of the day and say "no one was home". Someone needs to investigate.

I bet this area has a lot of theft problems therefore packages are not left in front of doors. That being said I’m surprised a solution to help customers hasn’t been resolved.

Partially is that some of the boxes are broken they are not only picking up packages, but they're picking up mail to that the carriers can't deliver. My mother's building has a lot of theft of packages and identity theft as well. Scammers live on the block too. I've see the both side of this I am a carrier as well. Fairly new like 2yrs in on the job. If a package is stolen then it's on us. We aren't allowed to leave packages in building with theft an break ins. Even an open mail box we cannot leave mail in it. We'll bring it back and have you pick it up at the station. We aren't allowed to go up past the second floor bc we have a cart full of mail/packages. That might get stolen from the neighborhood theives. They are watching you everyday when you deliver. This is so hard and yes the USPS treat their workers like shit.

In my building the packages are left in the Lobby. The delivery agents are too lazy to take the packages to the upper floors. Even though the elevators are working just fine. I’m retired, home all day, on the first floor. The package is dropped at the door without them ringing the bell. Every day myself or a family member checks the Lobby and leave notices for folks to pick up their delivery. Any packages have been stolen.
There's a reason for this....lack of employees. Why? Because Postal Mgm't has less people doing a lot more work.As a result. More lines. More delays.More issues.

The postal workers are quitting they are underpaid. The managers supervisors are harassing and bullying. The Postal Service workers directing the jobs so they’re quitting if I need better jobs in better pay they supposed to work for eight hours. They rushed him back in four hours. Impulsive workers are losing their homes in their jobs because they won’t pay them the money. And every day the carriers are being threatened before they goes out into the street. That’s why someone upset when you see them the upper room threatens the manager and supervisors to come down on the drivers. They have no directions as managers, their managers herself, and Grace became supervisors for fighting employees, but yet they put them back into the same position as a manager in the work conditions are terrible. They have no days off but one for one year they must work on Lyft to their vacation which is five days and they’re back at work and no more take it off. They work in them like dogs they don’t have lunch breaks but please when you see these postal workers at your door ask them to they need water, or something to drink some even if you see people stealing inside of the post office your packages if you say something to make it right, they will get prosecuted for that for selling someone stealing the packages. If your package come up Missy, the ghetto ones are stealing your packages that’s why you don’t have no package. They put it in their cars and driving off with them and selling it on his street. Welcome to the post office.
A usps supervisor at the local United States Post Office in my area told to to hold on, closed the door and never came back. There were 20+ customers in line. A lot of people walked out. We waited in line for way over an hour, until bout 15 after 5pm. The postal workers had to reopen their area to assist the customers that waited in line for so long. The postal said that the supervisor didn't tell any of the postal employees anything, only that she went to lunch (but never returned). In the end, my package was delivered to a different location and never recovered.
That's why I Love Miami we don't have those kinds of Problems with our post offices it may get hacked sometimes but our post offices staff's are very Organize

They were open during the pandemic in NYC that’s all I can say, more risky than my job in healthcare.
