Your wholesome encounter with ASU reminded me of a story about WWII Eastern Front:
“A German and a Soviet infantry squad bumped into each other while marching from opposite side of a narrow road. Both sides took cover in opposite ditches beside the road, ready to fire on each other. Just then a young German recruit did not realize what was happening at the front of his squad and walked straight into the enemy! Frightened, he screamed hilariously upon recognizing the Soviet stars on his enemies’ helmets and made two big jumps towards the ditch, scrambling to join his comrades.

The history is pretty interesting behind this tank for anyone who doesn't know it. Otto Skorzeny wanted to create a unit equip with American vehicle and uniforms to create havoc during the battle of the Bulge. He got about 30% of the equipment and men he needed so this division went back to being a regular SS panzer division.

I saw one of these tanks yesterday, while I was taking out my rebuilt and repurposed French Panther (being those panthers weren’t captured so much as they were restored from battlefield hulks)

Fun fact: about half of my ammo rack explosion deaths in the mexas were caused by hits in nonexistant ammo.
