Terry, Nice approach for a toe strap repair. I do about the same thing but from the top of the shoe and use Shoe Goo. The idea is to preserve the integrity of sole since it really takes a beating.
You could also thread the strap with a needle and thread and then pull it through the hole and attach a button/ washer/rubber ring...whatever ... I didn’t think of this till just now so it helped me solve my problem from watching this thank you
Great. Now I have some Crocs Sanrah wedge flips. The fit well, feel great, are very supportive, and easy to walk in. Unfortunately, they quit making them. The cross strap attaches on the side-perhaps by melting or glue or both. Nothing goes under the foot bed. One of the Sanrah wedge flips has unattached on the side. How can I fix it?

Wish I thought of that. Belt and suspenders approach.
Gonna try it with my Reef's Fanning flip flops. Great tip on the toothpick. Thanks from Argentina 🇦🇷
Good Luck. Mine are still holding up.
The problem with mine is that the stem of the toe thong snapped. Any ideas / suggestions?
Best repair
Update: It's been about 4 months or more since my repair... and it's still holding.
