I’d love more videos about this kind of stuff. It adds the other half of the story and it shows just how much work goes into just one rider. Good job 👍
This is by far then funnest interview!!! It is amazing to hear about this stuff and how much the smallest part can change the entire feel, we really need more talk about this because it is fascinating
Now we want the same history from Carmichaels Suzuki rm 250. A history long gone now, but there are some plenty of stories about it but only Ricky could confirm it. I would die to hear all about it, Decost/ Harisson same people different era and colours.
I'm telling you, you need to have Ryan Morais on. He has so many crazy stories and remember his qualifying lap times were right there with Bubbas when they turned pro. Ryan's career was riddled with injuries, but he was seriously one of the fastest dudes in early 2000's. You need to have him on!
I raced back in the 70's. The stuff you just mentioned is interesting, van you imagine what decoster or Hannah or lackey or those guys would have been like on today's bikes.
RD never got smoked by ET his last outdoor season, it was ‘16 and that was Kenny’s year on yellow. Dunge broke a vertebrae in his neck/back and never finished the season.
You need to have Morais on. If Yamaha would have let him turn pro right away he would have been a 125 supercross champion. His lap times were .01-.3 seconds off Stewart when he turned pro that first year. Unfortunately he got hurt so we will never know, but I swear he would have won it all if went pro the year before. At the very least you had a really good shot at it.
Awesome interview! I've been watching some of the old outdoor races with Steward on the Suzuki and it looks like the suspension on those RM's weren't just working good... Anyone seeing that or is just me?
Interesting view of a test rider. SX is the big prestige championship and MX development seems to take second place. I would like to hear a test rider explaining to DeCoster that the Factory Edition is too SX oriented for MX. The stock bike is better. Then DeCoster on the phone to the factory.
I just posted this comment on another video when this one popped up. Cool video and it seems like a great place for me to repost my comment: "'I'm a cyclist (mainly MTB) but have become a big SX/MX fan, but am a bit in the dark on a lot of the ins and outs of dirtbikes. If someone could answer my questions I'd love to know more. Coming from the MTB world and seeing how MTBs differ in geometry, suspension designs, spec, frame materials/layup, most of my questions are based of that: 1. How come there are no carbon rims in SX/MX? (obviously they're ubiquitous in cycling, but are the weight advantages not worth the "risk" of breaking one?...even though they can be made incredibly strong) I would think the acceleration and cornering advantages would make them desirable 2. All the bikes use a rear swingarm design, but are they all "single pivot" and in the same location? Do different manufactures use different linkage designs for the rear suspension? 3. Does the geometry vary from manufacturer to manufacturer? If so, it there a simple answer? (ex. KTMs have shorter wheelbases, and steeper headtube angles) 4. Are all 450's the same amount of suspension travel regardless of the manufacturer? If so, why? Are there rules on that?"
Gallup Journey Test Drives 1. The carbons wheels may be strong but with some cases at the speed we’re going if you come up short your screwed and I feel like you would break one. Working at a ktm dealership we have built fun carbon supermoto wheels so maybe in the future that while be a popular moto thing 2.because of different suspensions and how they move with different brands they all come stock with a pretty similar yet different linkage geometry but there are aftermarket options for performance linkages or lowering linkages 3.i know for a fact that all the manufacturers have a widely different geometry then the next and that they all perform different may it be there better over a jump or corner but I am not quite sure what the comparative wheel bases and stuff are but the geometry of the frame is usually based on the geometry of the motor and how it transfers it’s weight and flex characteristics 4. From 125cc (2-stroke) all the way up to a 450 (4 stroke) this class is also known as a “big bike”, off the showroom floor all of these bikes will have the same suspension and wheels and extra parts of such but having the motor size and frame to hold that specific motor. If you were to look at ktms line up of 125 to 450 they all have interchangeable suspension other then maybe a little different tuning
For Better youtube presence...meaning your videos recognized by youtube to come up organically under multiple searches make them over 10 min...that's the cutoff off time for credibility...the youtube algorithm it set to that time because longer videos would should have better content and more selling time for commercials, if the video maker decided to put more adds....there is alot more reasons...it's just set up that way...love the effort and the chanel and would love to see it grow....good luck my friend.....
Who else is going to go cut their twinwalls now & put the pad back on to hide it ✋ Actually, I might cut it most of the way off and just leave a tiny piece holding it together at the bottom & I bet it will allow it to flex at least from landings etc.
Lol Dungey got beat by Tomac that year because Tomac was wayyy faster. Tomac was arguably faster than anyone to ride a dirt bike that year. No bike setup was going to make Dungey competitive with Tomac that year...
@@sinki19841984 he was getting waxed by a minute+ bro. Setup isn’t going to make up that much time lol. At their level the setups are to make up tenths of seconds. Maybe a second a most. Tomac was like 3-5 seconds faster a lap the first 3 rounds
Ummmmmm, MORE, lol, love this shit, fucking amazing. Love the channel. Watch quite a few shows. Your doing an AWESOME job. By the way. I sent you a PM through your Facebook page on Mike Brown. I know it's not like you dont get a hundred messages on Facebook but I figured I'd try to contact you anyway
need to hear more of these type of videos this is mint
Definitely want to hear the rest from sleet. Very interested in hearing more deep insight from an r&d standpoint. Very cool stuff

Will do our best!

Dropping the full episode on here as soon as we have finished the edit. Its a banger
@@GYPSYTALES ah, I was trying to find it to watch
What’s funny about them talking about bike setups? Just asking
Funnest not funniest. Meaning it was a good insightful interview. Not humorous

Can we get the story on Barcia's yamaha???
I love this tech stuff.. keep it coming mate. That was very informative

Wow ! I didn’t realize what was all involved. Good stuff 🤙🏻
Such a cool story! I love hearing the technical stuff.
When it comes to any form a racing motorsport it is ALL about setup, set up, set up!
I’m just here to drop off my app for KTM USA test riding.
Love the fine technical talk. Makes total sense
Is it weird I could listen to Sleeter all day talk about bike set up.. good stuff here 🙏
He’s a total G when it comes to this shit
Loved hearing the things I would have never thought would make such a difference.
Great info. Makes perfect sense and how easy teams can get lost
Damn I never knew how deep bike s setups went.
So deep! We have an episode with Jack Miller dropping soon and the stuff that goes into MotoGP is ever gnarlier
This is me and my buddies at the truck in between rides talking... but this is the correct terms.
RD never got smoked by ET his last outdoor season, it was ‘16 and that was Kenny’s year on yellow. Dunge broke a vertebrae in his neck/back and never finished the season.
That was epic, so insightful
This is possibly the most interested I've ever been listening to a dude talk setup

This is how I feel the 2020 450sxf such a refined machine everything is bang on!

TOP info.
crazy huh... hes a wizzard
17’ was his last championship
Right but he didn’t ride outdoors in 17, so obviously they’re talking about 15 or 16 before he got hurt
Is the whole podcast with sleeter on UA-cam? Be awesome to hear more from the man👌🏻
Working on editing it now 👌🏼
I'm fuckin stoked to hear it!

Wasn't Jake Weimer hired more to sort out the KX450 for Tomac, less to win a championship. Top rider who knew how to setup a bike.
weimer was hired when villapoto was still there.
how do you keep taking 5 pounds off? any durability issues? maybe like the neck of the frame?
Titanium
Interesting stuff!
Anyone run the pro taper bars with the adjustable flex?
Awesome, thumbs up!
Sleeeeeeeets!!! Respect 👊
The guy riding the bike!
Woooow ...Amazing info !!!!!
Crazy insight aye
Very informative👊
2:00 you did what for three days?
He got his years mixed up.
LWT RACER yea I was thinking roczen rch Suzuki in 2016 won
4:04 Atomic Habits - James Clear

Why not have 2 bikes
I think dungey was what made the bike good haha.
This is fucking mad
All them KTM riders wouldn't win shit on another ride lol especially a yamaha only bubba and McGrath tamed that beast
lol this guy no idea what he talking about
I hope you mean me... Cos Sleeter is an OG of the game. Worked for KTM as their lead r and d guy for ten years.
@@GYPSYTALES lol this guy doesn't know what he is talking about 🙃 seb is a silly sausage
sebastian spalding that’s weird, you do know he’s been one of the testers for KTM for a long time, I’m sure he knows what he’s talking about.
Do you even know who Michael sleeter is aka sleetdog watch some old sx races and yes he’s been the top rd guy at Ktm for years

It's pretty crazy aye
