Some day in the future, competitors will get Hansoku Make for simply stepping onto the mat and winners are decided by a coin toss, no physical contact needed. -IJF probably
Shout out from Taipei. Personally I know Cheng in this video. I don't think he trains in Japan a lot due to the financial reasons and Covid restrictions. No judoka in Taiwan has sponsors with only one exception, Yong, who is a star here being an Olympic silver medalist (and good looking I guess). Yong is everywhere on TV commercials.
I just got Hansoku Make yesterday for a very similar head dive in a Ken Ken Uchimata but in my case it is half because I didn't turn my head properly and half because my supporting foot slipped! I'm 41 so my spine is a bit more brittle than these young guys so you could hear the gristly/crunching/cracking sound throughout the gymnasium. By the look on the medic's face when I shook it off and stood up I think she had figured my neck was broken LOL. I'm a bit stiff this morning; hopefully no additional disc herniations but hey, maybe I can collect the whole set!
Glad you're okej! I don't see the head diving part (more of a rollover motion) in this video hurting the opponent or the thrower. I've seen more knee attacks that will cause severe injuries.
This was not the best Tokyo Grand Slam. Probably the worst in my memory. While his final performance was great. I agree, he should not have qualified for the finals.
@@JudoLife Not likely that the officials were homers. IJF rotates referees so they're not on the mat with athletes from their confederation, much less their home country. OTOH, as with many other sports, the most elite athletes can sometimes get the benefit of the doubt from officials irrespective of nationality.
@@kusotare9559 Sorry that's what I mean, the referees are reluctant to score against the current Olympic champions, and also against the home boys in any tournament in case they get hassled by the crowd. I have witnessed this at World and Olympics level tournaments.
one thing i can suggest to make judo sport much better is to take away the time limit. and that would take away the not-fighting penalty and other delay tactics, and that would make the judo sport more interesting.. but then again.. this is judo we are talking about..
The first shiai with Kuanow was extremely controversial, I feel like they should have given him AT LEAST waza-ari. This does not look good. But I guess they kind of wanted to save Maruyama's career after a couple of losses to Abe.

Judo highlights makes another video 👍🏻
It's a video with Maruyama 👍🏻
Hits like, sits down & watches with the morning coffee.

Yeah not his best performance, rare for Maruyama to be off
yeah, I agree, his technical performance has some decreased in this competition, I hope he will do his best
Not the best Maruyama outing for sure
I really like Maruyama, but it wasn't his best performance
That call on tanika was unfair I think, he was rolling
man pls keep up ur work we appreciate u
At 5:37, Maruyama was lucky not to have this called a head dive. Yondonperenlei always seems to give him trouble.
100% agree. Why??? Home referees? Clear bias of referees 😮😢

@@JudoLife No argument there.
I dont think so. White is litteraly falling on Maruyama. He was not diving
Maruyama has great understanding of rules.
as for the score against mayu... well.. this judo was played in japan.. so..
Судейство нечестное, маруяма 2 раза проигривал за этот турнир
Yeah!
lucky, isn't he? he was favored twice

1:00 it's like on wazari
Thanks for the video !!! Great Job !!!
Казаха засудили. Вытащили его за уши до финала.
🤦🏻♂️
Согласен минимум вазари должны были дать, позор японским судям

@JudoHighlights How are you able to do Judo in Japan for over 10 years? What job/occupation allowed you to do that, and which dojo do you train at?
Can someone explain to me how Maruyama won if I'm seeing him lose several times?
Alguém pode me explicar como Maruyama ganhou se eu o estou vendo perder várias vezes?

i love your recaps
No Waze ari in semis since new rules you can’t push and force on the other side if you’ve been throw by urchin mata or something else
You can if you catch them mid-air, which is what I thought happened
head-diving is such a bullshit
5:48 isn’t that head diving too?
