They were big stars in Europe, they made movies since the 1960s (they are Italian), first serious Euro westerns and sorts of, then they teamed up, and made many comedies. Later favorites of mine are ''Crimebusters'' and ''Go For It'' (saw them both in the cinema at the time), also made in the US. Look them up, for people who still know Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, and watch their movies!
Some context for the americans. The actor duo Bud Spencer and Terence Hill where quite busy and successful so called "Spaghetti Western" (or Italowestern) movie "stars" from Italy. These kinda movies had some notable success because of their low budget nature and unique movie style (very european/italian). Their movies spread through europe but it was the german dubbing that made them stars (in Germany at least). Their movies always had an exaggerated over the top humor attached to them but Rainer Brandt (dialogue director for the german dub) decided to take it to the next level and created a wonderful and to this day legendary synchronisation of the originals. Unfortunately it's kind of impossible to give an accurate description for any non german speakers but the dubbing is filled with hilarious and smart puns and parody, even today some of the shit they said is just brilliant. Bud Spencer and Terence Hill became so big they even had multiple appearances on big german prime time TV Shows. Terrance Hill has a german mother and speaks a little german so that definitely helped but these two gentleman are the childhood heroes of many people here.
This movie was one of my favorite movie growing up. My brother and I would watch it every time it was on tv. I found a pretty cheap DVD copy at Costco a few years ago so I picked it up. I believe it is still available for free in French on UA-cam. Absolutely love Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.
oh, yeh! They were bog in Brazil and their artistic names, Butch Spencer and Terrence Hill was a form to appel to a appeals to a international audience. They had a prolific carrer and were famaous in south America. Terence was famous as Trinity and started his carrer as a parody of Clint Westworld
Yep. Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. Spencer is Italian and Hill is half Italian, half German. Absolute Legends here in Western Europe during the 1970s. It's supposed to be cheesy and way over the top. They have stuff like a contest eating sausages and drinking beer while the place is being smashed to pieces. They both beat bad guys effortless each time. As mentioned elsewhere, the German dubbing is hilarious. Of course they got old and by the 1980s it wasn't the same anymore.
You're not a European if you never thought these guys were American. Gotta love some "Murder Death Revolver Punks" with Charlös Brinson (real name Rudgero Supermagnifico) from 1984.
The Trinity Brothers did 9000 movies together from the early 70s till up into the 90s and are about as well known all over Europe as John Wayne is in America. Ive met fans from at least 18 countries. My classmates loved them in the 70s and 80s. They where 2 Italian actors that got turned into this action double act and became known all øver the world. The english dubs are terrible, you want the german dub. They are the masters of dubbing films and series, and they always sound amazing. 😊
Spencer and Hill, they're most known as a comedy duo. Believe it or not, Bud Spencer (pavarotti) was actually a very strong athlete, a professional swimmer and water polo player.
As an American, you simply cannot understand Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill movies. These are silly action movies, they are meant that way, and America as a background is supposed to fulfil all the clichés Europeans have about the US. The films have a particular cult following in Germany, where the two Italian actors were dubbed by someone who mis-translated them on purpose to make the dialogues even more silly and hilarious. And even fat, old Carlo Pedersoli (Bud Spencers actual given name) would have beaten the fittest iteration of Bill Burr in any sports competition for sure!
Spencer/Hill are absolute legends here in europe.
Especially in italy and germany.
They are legends in Serbia also.
The Netherlands too
Europe*, Italy*, Germany* - all continents and countries are capitalized in English.

It is crazy that americans don't know Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill. They were huge in europe in the 90's. Them, Alf and David Hasselhoff.
I mean tbf we are a lil oversaturated in the film and entertainment department here in the USA 😄 Eventually we'll get to them after all the rest
They were out of business in the 1990s. Their hightime were the late 70s to mid 80s.
hes huge in germany. that probably explaines die miami cops. german for the miami cops

My dad refuses to call their films anything but "Lucky Luke". Oh, there's Lucky Luke and That Guy in a bar...
