- Robert Patrick AKA "Terminator's" T-1000 joins Alyona in studio to talk about his most recent project "Identity Thief." Here he talks about whether he would return to the role that made him famous.
scariest terminator of all time. Patrick was fantastic as the T-1000
fluffynoses He had a real screen presence in that film. Although he was arguably not as visibly muscular as Arnold Schwarzenegger, the fact that he could just do that icy glare, even without any words coming out of his mouth, even before you saw any of his metamorphoses, you just somehow believed that he could be more than a match for the T-800 - you just did not know quite how until it became apparent later.
Texy88 well said man
Texy88 Ass-hole!
+fluffynoses TRUE! Robert Patrick T1000 Forever!Even if Lee Byun Hun played well in Genesys.
tHE CHARACTER BELONGS TO Patrick
Would have been great to see a CGI Robert Patrick in Genysis as the T-1000.
A man who knows when to leave well alone.
Hollywood - take note...
Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher take note.
They ruined their *legacy* in Star Wars in exchange for a few more bucks.
@@Euclides287 Actually it's not their fault for the chaos Disney have caused Mark Hamill really hates the way Disney's handled Luke Skywalker's character and was warning everyone about it until the Disney Suits forced him to shut up and sing fake praise for TLJ don't blame the actors or even JJ Abrams they did their best with the shit storm Disney and Rian Johnson have developed together
@@sabihfaraz6732 They didn't have to sign on to do the movies in the first place. I'm certain they didn't sign up without seeing the script.
And that's whats called integrity kids...
Well said sir, well said
Tegridy weeeeeed.
one of the best villains of all time for sure
geobruf123 Time is the key word
+Christopher Youngbeck The put the asian guy as T-1000!!!
Facepalm!!!
And cast is awful!!!
in terminator genisys they should have included the t-x too. it would be pretty awesome if arnold was fighting 4 terminators: his younger copy, T-1000, T-X and the new T-3000
agreed, the current terminator vs the old terminator's,AWESOME!!!!!!
He is a smart guy. He knows he perfected the role and does not mess with the perfection he created.
I agree; if the producers of a new Terminator movie wants to bring back the t-1000, they should just find a younger actor who resembles Patrick in his prime; its much easier and more sensible then asking him to reprise the role at his age.
Miss Elly Good point. I think Patrick owned the role. Like you said, if they want to bring it back, they should use a fresh face that copies Rob's. Plus....it's the friggin T-1000, it can look however it wants. If it wanted, it could go out there and kick Arnie's ass while looking like Elvis Presley if it wanted to.
Miss Elly If they want someone who resembles Robert Patrick to play the T-100 they should get James Badge Dale. He looks a bit like Patrick and he's a pretty good actor.
@@hamster12512 He looks nothing like him.
@@syphonfilter8372 exacly
He gave the best answer he could. Which translated as.. If some random people are trying to make money off the Terminator franchise...and just want me there for more hits with the audience... I'll pass.. But if this was a true sequal to James Cameron's work, I'm a teamplayer and down for that!
Nailed it, i feel the same way.And i think it's fair this way
H MAN : Mr. Patrick is a class act all the way. So unlike so many others in Tinseltown.
H MAN He knows if Cameron touches it, it'll be actual art. Every scene in T-2 looks like it was crafted on that pottery wheel.
H MAN i love you..you nailed it!
you said it best
Down to earth, humble and in the same time one of the best and most iconic villains in a movie ever. Massive respect!!!
He portrayed one of the best villains to hit the silver screen, and he just seems like a real class act. Much respect to this fantastic actor.
Robert Patrick has the right idea. Just let it be... those first two are classics. The following sequels don't exist as far as I'm concerned.
I have seen the first two movies for like 5-6 times each. Never saw the rest, I only know that Arnold is carrying a coffin in the third movie and I have no clue what the 4th movie is about, I only watched the clips with Arnold CGI cameo.
Robert was great of course. I also liked him on the x-files. He seems to be a reasonable man in real life.
counterclockwise123 Yeah your right, I consider T3 as a proper sequel to T2 because T3 establishes the future war that was fucked up by salvation with covert john connor, robot cycles, drones and fish. Now Genesys is a complete reboot of the franchise which rehash the originals T1 and T2. I don't know, Im kinda pump to see another terminator movie but judging from what i've seen from the trailer, bad cgi, one liners copied from the original, plot that stopping judgement day all over again for the 3rd time, and old arnold terminator missile is just absurd. I'm not getting my hopes up but if they transitioned it to be like x-men days of future past backing forth from past and future then it may not suck as I thought its going to be.
One way they could've gone after T2(because of the arm that was smashed up by the T-1000 @ end of T2; making judgement day truly inevitable) was at least show the character arc of John Connor making it through Judgement Day (T3) and fighting (Salvation) all the way up to the point where he finds Kyle Reese and sends him back. Then we could've watched the movies in order and it would keep revolving( T1,T2,T3,T1,T2,T3,T1..) like the mind f*ck time travel presents. One could imagine right?
Terminator 3 - Carry on terminating
alan Tony An idea I came up with would involve the Connors and some friends discovering an undercover cyborg assembly plant and trying to stop it.
Robert Patrick is such an underrated actor.
Frank Redfield The first time I saw that movie, took me a couple years to get over half the stuff in the movie. Some time passed and even with a crappy 4th movie, it lives on, people still go out to watch it. It's like nintendo and star trek BUILT TO LAST. Friends and full house... prince of bell air NO-BO-DY CARES.
Maybe because patrick isn't in the news much these days, and of course the crappy 4th movie... the 3rd movie was at least watchable, but when that salvation came around it was like nailing 'terminator' to the cross.
I think another terminator with a 5 minute scene of her would make a billion dollars. I wanted to see sarah too.
Frank Redfield He was probably never asked, in the end it's realy jus tabout money, he would most probably do it for the right amount of money. And hell why not? I would do it. Can't blame someone for playing a role in a movie if he got offered hell lot of million dollars. It doesn't seem to bother Arnold either, and his last 2 performances really have been disapointing.
Frank Redfield
I don't mind remakes as long as they have new actors eventually bringing something new to the table with the story and setting. In other words, quality filming. Robocop was simply garbage and it would have been garbage even without the old movies because of the shitty acting and the way how they told the story. But I see your point and I agree, creativity has become even worse over the years in Hollywood. Like with T5 and soon enough Alien 5 ...
It's nice that he cares for the cast of t2.
Aside from being the T1000, Patrick is a badass actor.
Thank god he said what I wanted him to. He made his mark on this whole thing. Nothing will ever compare to the original performance.
Robert Patrick brought an intensity to the T-1000 that I can't imagine any other actor doing. T2 is still one of my all-time favorites.
I love his response, because yes I would love to see him again but it is the best decision to not do it again because of his age & that alot of people would criticize him for trying it or saying that hes too old or that his acting isnt the same as in T2. That plus the fact that its very doubtful that James Cameron would work on the next film including the same cast so he couldn't have said it any better, Thanks for giving us a great movie villain Robert your the best
Yes, I agree; Patrick was in his early thirties when he played the T-1000, a physically demanding role and it would be asking a lot of him to do it again at fifty-four. I think the best thing the producers of T-5 could do is find a younger actor who physically resembles Robert Patrick in his prime.
Love your videos dude.
Perfectly said💙
+ScopePN" He did work on Terminator" Dark Fate, and it a fate worse than death. Oh my, James Cameron was the one who destroyed Terminator movies. I doubt if we can see another Terminator movie, but I hope there is one last movie to end all of this.
Robert Patrick was perfect for the roll of T1000 and played it absolutely brilliantly
Robert Patrick to me was T2. His presence is dominating. I found myself routing for The T-1000, rather than Arnold. That's how awesome Robert Patrick is.
To me the T-1000 is quite possibly the most despicable villain in movie history, so...good job Robert Patrick!
For me the scene when he's faking the moms voice...."I was like damnnnnnnn!!"
yulleait 2 The T-1000 turns into Vasquez.
yulleait 2 knife in the mouth of Todd...if only wives could do that in real life. lol 'oh, who's hot on tv?? KNIIIIFE!!!' and the fact that it was through the milk carton was the cherry on top.
Doom Victor Yeah he was a powerful figure in that movie. The T1000 was so cool.
He's basically saying that all the other movies suck and he doesn't want to taint the legacy of the character (T-1000) *cough* Arnold *cough*
I think the T1000 does make a return. The thing is, the T1000 doesn't really have a set look, unlike the T800.
P.S. It would be nice for you to be Dogget again :)
The T1000 used to fighten the life out of me as a kid. Proper bad guy!!!
True Simon, ...I remember seeing the T-1000 in the new Genisys (goddam I hate that spelling) trailer. However, I don't think Robert Patrick wants to be the one that comes back into a franchise that is received poorly by the critics and fans respectively. He's more like "my work is done here, someone else can take the risk" ha!
Oh ***** you hated Arnold in the first movie, ...that's why his return when Sarah Connor sees him for the first time again in T2, it made such a huge impact. Man, ...I'm doing a Terminator 1 & 2 run tonight :D
Complete respect on his reasons for not really wanting to return. Wants to leave the character alone and have it be what it was. Brilliant, shame more actors and franchises aren't approached with this attitude.
While I do think it's a rare and honourable thing for actors and other creators to leave their work at its best instead of milking it to death, I also understand the ones who do continue with the successful franchises beyond their prime. Acting and filmmaking is serious and volatile business. Studios need to put food on the table, and sometimes actors don't really get to pick and choose roles either, especially the ones who are heavily typecast.
I think that he loves the legacy and doesn't want to tarnish that more than anything. I think what he sees in cyberspace does not help. I can get that. I enjoyed the indirect references they have made to T 1000 in things like parodies that even Robert himself made in years since, and of course Shirley Manson playing a female T 1000 inspired model.
It is refreshing to see a movie star with an actual brain in their head.
Well Robert...the T1000 became SO famous because of your amazing performance 👌
say thats a nice bike
"Get out."
Love that line. And it just cuts right after that and let's your imagination fill in the rest.
kool
Call to john
I'll take care of the police.
This is what you call an "actor" who is true to a story and not someone who does for a pay check
i like this guy , very straight talking sincere ,humble guy .Great actor btw!!
Good man. Gave the perfect answer.
This dude was born for that role.
***** Billy Idol was the first one considered, but he had a very nasty bike accident and wouldn't be able to run like a motherfucker. Robert was a perfect fit.
*-* Ask the Starchild *-* billy? lol really? I can see that with his crazy hair and sharp presence! Learn something new everyday
Patrick was awesome as T-1000. That's still the best Terminator to date..
Good for you Robert. Too many people don't know when to stop and end up souring the milk of their own performance.
I rewatched T2 yesterday and gotta say I fucking loved t1000. Amazingly efficient, this portrayal was fucking masterful.
What a nice man and a fantastic actor, best villan ever!!!
Robert is a great understated actor...The T1000 was cold, heartless and ruthless and he delivered that exceptionally well...
The T 1000 is my favourite terminator character, and I like how Robert explained why He would not come back. As He went out with a bang in T2; and If He came back, all the new directors and writers would ruin his character.
Some old gems are best to stay untouched.
SOME Gems, you mean ALL GEMS!💯 It's sad when movies are made of characters PAST THEIR PRIME!👎
He put so much subtlety into the T-1000, balancing aggressive and slight movements across the board. Its only when confronted by the T-800 at the steel mill, that you get a sense of the T-1000 "losing his patience". Everything else came across a very calculated and methodical...almost like a mime.
HAPPY 58TH BIRTHDAY ROBERT PATRICK !!!!
My hat's off to Robert Patrick. I love that he would entertain the idea of returning, instead of just writing it off altogether, but also acknowledging his age and his limits. Obviously since Genisys, he's not coming back, as the franchise is totally different now.
But I remember reading an interesting concept years back that Robert Patrick's character was actually a scientist and designed the T-1000 in his own image, and they were flirting with the idea of bringing him back to show the birth of the T-1000.
Robert speaks a lot of truth. The character was great and was a great addition to the film, but to do it again just wouldn't be the same. Plus he's much too old, which is one of the reasons they made Arnie with CG in Terminator: Salvation.
One of the best villains in cinematic history....His career never really took off the way Arnold's did when he played the villain in 1984. But he was great in The Sopranos! And his cameo was epic in Wayne's World 2 !
Wayne's World 1. I would argue that Mr Patrick has had a far superior career to Arnold. He's a far superior actor, and has done far more interesting roles that are character driven. He is a character actor, the best acting there is.
Well done Robert Patrick you are a true artist, and true artists do not sell themselves for money so cheaply. Your answer should be example to all those who for money ruin the childhoods of people who grew up with these films.
Didn't he make a funny cameo in Last Action Hero?
MusikCabaret Cameo is not selling out.. its just a cameo.
Zlata S True.
@விஷ்ணுகார்த்திக் Well said.
(It's not possible to tag your name automatically, so I had to copy and paste.)
He made the smart decision, thank goodness. Though I always secretly wish James Cameron would make a proper Terminator 3 himself someday, and that it would stay true to the masterpiece that was the second movie. I don't count anything after T2 as anything more than cashing in on the name.
I think the closet they came to a proper T3 was the Universal Studios 4d simulation.
I sooo agree with after t2 it was just trash they don't even try, just cashing in on the name
oh I agree... nothing after T2 works. I agree with the sherminator... T2 is the best movie ever.
Salvation was waaay better than T3.
+The Doom. Salvation was ok not all that but a bit better than T3 however salvation could of used a better story I like that they exploring the future instead of the past but need better storyline to be accurate with the original movies
terminator 2 still blows me away to this day. incredible.
He definitely nailed that role as the T-1000. One of the scariest & most evil villains. Idk if anyone else could of pull it off if another goes for that role in the next terminator.
Robert Patrick you are an amazing actor Terminator 2, Terminator 2 director's cut, X-Files. I love the work you do keep it up man.
gotta respect his stance on this. You can see he doesn't wanna ruin anything
Love him
He deserved every bit of attention and game he achieved from T2. He created the most iconic villain in movie history.
Such a great terminator he was. Fantastic and underrated actor.
Robert Patrick: the Man, the Myth, the Legend...!!!
Patrick did amazing job playing T-1000. I remember seeing the movie when I was like 7 or 8 and literally T-1000 was the scariest villain ever. Robert Patrick's physical appearance, eyes, still face, lack of speech made the character a true menace. To me the best movie ever made.
heck yes his character was AMAZING!!! He is the one and only T-1000!!
cant better judgement day. the title, action scenes, the amazing plot, and the best villain EVER!
Robert Patrick is legend, and such a nice guy.
Met Robert Patrick twice, once at the T2 convention in L.A. (I bought the T1000 sunglasses at auction(but it was stolen :-( ) and another time at a lecture at USC . Robert Patrick was very nice and approachable and his work on T2 and X files are classic.
He did return for the role! He played the T-1000 in The Last Action Hero AND Wayne's World! :P
and T2-3D: Battle Across Time!
T2 video game and Hollywood Adventures film are other examples. He even did a commercial as the character.
This man is so honest and humble!
He was absolutely perfect for the T-1000 role
No one will ever replace Robert Patrick az the T-1000 !!
oh man I wish he returned again he was sooo awesome as the T1000
I love the menacing "finger wagging" he did in T2. I live in a rough neighbourhood, and it's proved effective on a couple of occasions!
This guy was amazing....this is the only movie I watched with him in it. One of the best villains of all time.
Robert Patrick should defo be cast as somebody who was a template for the t-1000 who was sent back in t2 would make t5 a lot more interesting that what is being said on some forums about the new film
Yes, I can see that working. In Star Trek TNG, Dr. Soong created the android Data in his image as a young man so it would be more sensible for Patrick to be cast as a someone whose youthful image was used for the t-1000.
No one in the world could have played T-1000 better than Robert Patrick. He owned that shit. Period.
His mere presence on screen - that timeless dead stare, even when firing and/or running at full speed - will, I think, always be hailed as one of the creepiest performances (all of it in a good way) in all of Hollywood. And I know I'll always feel that way about it - sheer genius.
This is like Kevin Peter Hall for Predator - match actor and role that is just. .... well, perfect, for lack of better term.
Robert Patrick is a top Actor
Robert Patrick's T-1000 has been one of my all-time favorite villains for a REALLY long time, and I have to admit that I'm saddened by the fact that he won't revisit the role. - THAT - to me would've made me (more than anything else) super excited to see the upcoming movie. One things for sure, that's going to be a Hard act to follow. Byung-hun Lee has definitely got his work cut out for him!
This guy portrayed character so feel I still get intimated by his look after all these time.
He's awesome,amazing villain.
The T-1000 looks awesome at 54 years old. LOL
Criminally underrated actor by Hollywood.
I was something like 6-7 yo when i first watched the T2, i still remember him hunting in my nightmares back then, amazing performance. Not the character made you big Patrick, you made it yourself!
I admire the hell out of his honesty, he left a mark in cinema history for his role as the T-1000. Best to leave it alone and not mess with a good thing!
RP keeping it real. One of the best on-screen villains.
Dude in great shape! Look at those pythons and he has no gut👍👍👍👍
Good on you Patrick. You made your mark and passed the torch onto others
What an actor...lovely character played b mr patrick...In T3 missed him v much...one of the most handsome villains even we cn say beautiful...what a body he hd...what terrifying beauty
Robert Patrick is just one damn fine actor He was awesome in as the T-1000 besides other roles he played Fire in the Sky and others
Robert, we love you, especially for your "NO" this time:) Thank you.
That Robert Patrick is one cool dude, and a great actor!
I'm on my 4th round of The X-Files now, and he was kickass as Agent John Doggett!
Amen Robert ... the greatest actor of all time
Good acting is very important for me to enjoy a movie. The character he created in terminator 2 is still one of my favorite works in cinema. Well done!
Its too bad he's not as lean and slender as he used to be; I can tell he's put on a bit of weight since his days as the T-1000.
I love Robert. The best man in the world ! :)
Vondermonarchia Last Action Hero & Wayne's World
Sequels always successful when same cast and directors involved.
Well said, he's know's what he created for that character was a classic and he wants to leave it as is. Good job sir! :]
Only Robert Patrick can nail that role again cause I can't see anyone else doing it. T-1000 for life lol
I think Robert is right, indeed the whole franchise should be left alone. Terminator and T2 are both on my top 10 list that's why I don't want to see them ruined by inferior pointless sequels. No Jim Cameron, No point.
Lol I'm from the future what if I told you they make a fifth film and its even worse than the 3rd and 4th film and has the worst cast imaginable?
"I should leave that performance alone..." This man gets it!!!
He NAILED The T1000
Good call Patrick! No Cameron, no Terminator. His portrayal of the T-1000 was brilliant, no point in rehashing on old stories and turn the Terminator franchise into another Expendables.
He said the same thing to me when i met him about revisiting the T-1000 character. He said why just not leave well enough alone. Great guy too.
Fire in the Sky. Robert Patrick's best performance.
Great film!
Stargate Atlantis too
I also thought he was excellent as Colonel Ryan in the TV series, The Unit.
He was in that movie? I need to watch it again
he choked? my god, he's so humble. his role was extremely epic in that movie
holy shit, commenting on my own comment from 10 years ago
I'm so happy what Robert Patrick did say about making another terminator movie, only in good hands. He is the lesser evil of the two terminators.
the scariest villain of all time and Patrick is the best guy to do it, such a legend
I am so glad he said it like it is! 👊🏻
ived never forgotten this guy sincee first watching T2
No Robert Patrick, it was you dude. Outstanding performance that will stand the test of time. Thank you.
I'M A HUGE ROBERT PATRICK FAN
dude is still in good shape and working out! So why not???
He and his brother Richard are both very talented and had the pleasure of meeting both at different times and two of the nicest guys I have ever met!
The most memorable villain of entire terminator series.
Amazin' Interview!
