    That’s an awesome way to do it!
    We had been looking for about 15-20 acres forever in SE Indiana. Everything either sold fast or just wasn’t a good fit. Our house sold so fast and we were living with the in-laws before we could figure out a new place. We were so blessed when we randomly ran into our old neighbor. His uncle passed a few months before and had 35 acres for an awesome price. They wanted to do a private sale, no realtor, etc. It was a bit more paperwork and stuff but they made out not paying the fees and we did great as well on the price. We ended up with a 20 year old custom home on almost double the acreage we were planning for the same price and we had been looking. God works in some awesome ways!

      That is a great story! Congratulations. 35 would be about perfect. Sounds like God put you in the right place at the right time. Hope all is well with you guys. Thanks for watching!

    Unless you're in California. 😊 A guy I follow bought 20 acres of central valley farmland not that far from me a couple of years ago for just under $1 million. House looks nice, had a good large shed/equipment building. He's planted hundreds of fruit trees and an expanse of strawberries and other berries for a u-pick organic farm/orchard. I Googled his address to see just where the place was located and good old Zillow popped up.

    Nice! That is around what we expected to have in our 20 acre property in Arizona. We are doing all of the building and work ourselves.

      Awesome! It takes a while to get things like you want them. Like possibly a whole life time it feels like sometimes but it’s worth it in my opinion. Arizona sounds like a better place to build then Kansas. Funny how life just locks you in to a location. Someday maybe when everything’s all done here my kids will be grown and then I can move someplace like Arizona and start all over again haha.

    I came here because of the skid steer video, stayed for the cattle. Dexter is what I want to get into after school, I’m technically a first generation guy even though there’s cattle in my family. I appreciate your approach of giving tangible information

      Every now and then things just fall into place and that was the case with the land. I was shocked when they called and said I won! Thanks for watching!

    This is beautiful! Also that brick skirting turned your trailer into a house. The value went up. They wouldn’t consider you trailer a trailer simply because of the bricks so that was a good investment

    • @dexterranch
      @dexterranch  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Deidre. I think you’re right about the brick adding value. It has definitely helped to keep the critters out. I still have a few mice every year but not as many as you would expect being out in the country. Thanks for watching!

    • @deidregill4469
      @deidregill4469 2 роки тому

      It most definitely added value. On paper it’s not classified as a trailer anymore because of that brick scurting. Like in a small town like mine has a city ordinance of no trailers but what i recently found out through research and realtors, brick skirting makes it a house.. changes the foundation type.. and for the rats.. get a cat a 2 🙈 my sister had a bad rat problem. She stayed basically surrounded by cow pastures.. and the cats saved her trailer cause they used to sit down and watch tv with u🙈😹 but again u still might have one or 2 every now and then with the cats

    Well done, I am somewhat behind you having a fraction more land though unlike yours is marginal. It is good old Irish gleys. However great for Dexters as this is their land of origin. You don't have a tractor and seem to have a pickup truck as your subsitute. I have a tractor which I like plus a family salon which doubles up as a tow vehicle.

    We bought our KS farm sight unseen. It was all satellite photos and Zillow shots. We knew very little, butit is pretty, large house, and more land than we have ever owned.
    Buying a mobile home to live in is very smart. What happened to the house that came with the property?
    You were going to discuss the answers to your bible question? Jon and I were both looking forward to that. 😁

      Hi Val. It sounds like things worked out for you guys taking a chance sight unseen. You can get a pretty good idea with images and satellite images. Then you just make the rest work lol. As far as the biblical question goes I created a post a while back saying that it was going to end up adding to much length to the Dexter Ranch videos if I gave any kind of thoughtful answer, so I created a new channel just for that. The first video is there now. Here is a link to the channel. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome video! Where do you find bank repo deals like that?

    • @dexterranch
      @dexterranch  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Kevin. Thank you. They ran it on Zillow, but it was only on for 4 days and as I said I seen it the day before the bid closed. I think when these bank get to a point that they can legally auction it they make quick work of it. Specially if it’s ran down as this was. Thanks for watching!

    This gave me some hope but in east Texas...idk how the heck I would find 20 acres for 31k. Its 100k for 5 acres here at least. How did you find auctions to get land so cheap?

    • @dexterranch
      @dexterranch  Рік тому

      It was a bank repo that was up for auction for only 3 days with sealed bids. It about an hour from any substantial city so not many people knew about it.
