Je me demande si les mélomanes de la région parisienne se rendent compte de leur chance. En province dur dur d’écouter au concert de la musique contemporaine.
The Ensemble Contemporaine performed "Intégrales" as the closing number in their concert at Zellerbach Hall at the University of California at Berkeley, USA, I believe was in 1978. The performance was absolute perfection, both technically and expressively! We, the audience, went COMPLETELY INSANE WITH APPLAUSE! We would not stop clapping and cheering! The Ensemble looked bewildered, obviously surprised at our reaction, and at a loss as to what to do about it! After all while, the first trumpeter spoke with the conductor, then a moment later, the Ensemble repeated the entire piece _en bis_! It was absolutely as perfect as the first around! And we, the audience went just as COMPLETELY INSANE with applause as we did the first time! I will never forget that amazing time, one of my very most cherished concert memories.
Merci beaucoup pour ces précisions bienvenues. Ce n'est guère étonnant qu'un Boulez ait fait de Varèse un de ses compositeurs favoris

I got to play one of the percussion parts in a performance by a mixture of professionals and students when I was in college. Such a cool piece.
