I also love that in verse 8, where it is written, “And the Lord will wipe away tears from all faces”…this speaks to me of what a compassionate God our God is…to foretell the love of Jesus through this prophet Isaiah 🙏🏻
Thank you, Chad, for reminding us - this verse has been meaningful to me - God is greater than death, He is the Life.
Verse 1 is a magnificent statement of praise & hope.
Yahweh is our hope for the present and for the future as He is faithful and His marvelous plans will become reality!
This passage has spoken to me for some time. I want this for the Old Testament lesson at my funeral!
This is a wonderful gospel promise especially in light of the world we live in. I get discouraged at times just lost one of my best friends and another is in the hospital and then I have to die myself. Its frustrating, overwhelming and depressing at times. SOOOOO these gospel promises give me hope in what seems like a hopeless situation THANKS BROTHER for pointing us to the truth!!!
I love the opening of chapter 25. in the NKJV, "For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth" (v. 1b). Actions from words, not actions vs words. God has done wonderful things in His counsel. Isaiah is stuck on God's Word. Faithfulness and truth. It is settled and it is always good. Lord, help us to be stuck on Your Word all the days You give us. Amen!
God on the mountain destroyed the shroud that enfolds all people! I read this and God takes away darkness. Then he prepares a lavish feast for his children. Reminds me of "He prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies!" Oh death wherevis thy sting!!?? God conquered that sting by Jesus coming down and being that ultimate sacrifice! Halleleujah!! ❤
God will wipe away the tears. He acknowledges my hurts and takes away my sorrow.
This may sound weird…but I was praying before I read the reading. I asked Jesus to help me to understand his love for me…all the way to my bones. So as I read verse 6, I was struck by the description of the feast that the Lord will make for all his peoples….a feast of rich food, a feast of well aged wine, of rich food filled with MARROW, etc. I believe wholeheartedly that Jesus will answer my prayer. 😊
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤍🕊️😊
Chad, you are a regular member of our Sunday School class. Thank you, brother 🤍🕊️
My favorite image of "death swallowing" up is in Jonah as he goes down to Tarshish, down below deck, down into the sea, and down into the belly of the beast. As Scripture compares Jesus to Jonah, it turns out Jesus "swallows" the Beast!
You know sometimes I read these passages just to read them however thank you for showing that to me
Fantastic connection, thanks or pointing that out, Chad.
That same verse stood out to me, but it was "The Lord God will wipe away the tears from every face..." In my times of grief and sorrow, I often feel God distant. Yet, to "wipe" implies he is so near he will one day reach out and touch my sorrowful face. My discouragement doesn't distant God, it draws him close to me. "From every face" teaches me the communal aspect of sorrow, it confronts the lie I believe that I must the only Christian who grieves. In this verse, God confronts me that both that he is near, he is eager to comfort me, and even now I am not alone in my sorrow for he has given me the Body of Christ to grieve alongside.
Beautiful 🤍🕊️
Chad the image of rejoicing “Let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation “ Reproach swallowed, feast offered, aged wine well refined; Emanuel… today is the day for salvation! joy to who so ever believe! Joyful people with heart of flesh living loves rebirth testifying truth. That hope ! The reality life “is”from ,our father in heaven!
Wow!
Thank you Chad. Verse 9 appears to be the voice of those at resurrection?
Yes, the joyful voice of us who will enjoy resurrection life.
How can death be swallowed up forever if the second death lasts forever?
Death is spoken of in multiple ways in the Scriptures: spiritual death, physical death, and everlasting death. For the believer, Christ has swallowed up all of these. But for those reject Christ, all of these remain.
