Residence issue is not that simple. One cannot claim tax residency of another country, if one has spent more than 6 months in Pakistan. Theres however a famous work around.. the shell companies!. Make a shell company in a tax free country, and ask your emplyer to make a contract with that shell company, and make your self employee (like CEO) of the same company with reduced pay. Keep the saved money abroad, and only cash in when needed. Also you can maybe ask emplyer to give you a car with monthly petrol on companies behalf, instead of payrise, that wont be taxed at all.
These are all legal options.. The ultra rich in the west also avoid taxes this way. Let me gice you example of what Elon musk did recently. He bought twitter through one of his holding company for 44 b$ and sold twitter for 19b$ to second company he owns for 19b$ resulting in on paper loss of 24 billion usd for first company. So now if his first company makes a profit of upto 24 billion usd on other ventures this year, the net profit would be zero, so that comapny wont have to pay any taxes on 24Billion usd profit !! And elon still owns the shares of twitter he bought.
8:22 the argument about taking cash as salary. There are two problems with this: 1. How will the company justify its expenses (which it is giving as cash) to FBR when it has to file its returns? 2. How will the employee justify his assets if they don't match his decayed income?
Ali bhai, I respectfully disagree with your opinion on real estate tax in light of the following issues (as also raised by many economists/analysts like Atif Mian. Miftah Ismail, Uzair Younis): 1. A lot of money, possibly by certain "higher ups", is hidden in real estate and this sector should not be used to hide questionable wealth tax-free. Getting proper records and imposing a small tax could help in avoiding this. 2. Deviating most of the investments to real estate leads to underinvestment in all other productive sectors of economy that could have generated employment, created wealth or had brought in foreign reserves through exports. I think not taxing export based industries makes more sense than real estate. 3. Not taxing real estate promotes land-grabs by certain departments as all public entities start considering this sector as the only viable option to make money. 4. Taxing real estate will keep the property prices in check which will potentially be more affordable for the middle class. Hope you respond to these concerns in future. Always a huge fan of the show and the culture of debate and discussion in it!
I’m unsure how to respond to this. As evident in the video, we are not against property tax. However, there should not be an income tax on property that is not generating income. Additionally, only the local government should be authorized to collect property tax from the owner.
Yearly Real estate taxes are essential, i pay 12 thousands US dollars every year on my house to local government in Virginia. This is because real estate value is due to government investment. The reason your plot is expensive is because state or public has invested in the road in front of your plot. Also land is an in elastic resource which you cannot make in China like other stuff. So there west taxes heavily on land Every Year which is not being used. Some people convert land into permanent forest easement and then they pay less or no taxes because forest benefits everyone.
If I don’t pay real estate tax for 2 years government will will take over my house and auction it. This is called tax lien auctions. You can look up on the Google. Real estate taxes and zoning is why west has preservation of natural resources and land.

They can't get the same quality of if they moved abroad. If this wasn't true, you would have seen more people leaving their high-income jobs here for opportunities abroad, but that is not the case. No data shows that being the case.
Really shocked to know 1 Cr Pakistani Rupees attracts 45% Tax. Converting it to Indian rupees its just 30 lk Indian rupees. That's average salary of a corporate professional here in India with 4+ Yr experience.
