Made from vacuum heat-treated and sub-zero quenched Japanese 8A stainless steel and hollow ground to a thin, razor sharp edge, they are as fast and ferocious as they are attractive.
The Espadas state of the art pistol grip handles are strongly curved and equipped with multiple finger grooves and a sub-hilt that gives unprecedented retention and reach through multiple grip options.
Their CNC machined frames and integral bolsters are made from 7075 Aluminum billets. Rivalling Titanium in strength, they can endure many years of even the hardest use. Finally, we mirror polish the dovetailed bolsters and attach high gloss black G-10 handle scales using the latest high tech fasteners.

Espada XL is my favorite knife of all time. I have two of them, the original and the G10 version. Both of them are excellent and I love carrying them whenever possible. Definitely has that awesome factor that never gets old.

I commend Cold Steel for making the Espada which is hands down the best combat folder ever made.
A good knife for self defense needs to be large for reach and deep cuts, heavy for penetration power and razor-sharp.
Just the size will intimidate the crap out of most attackers.

@@TheVintagedudee By that reasoning you should be driving a truck full of counter-measures for things that are way more likely to occur.
Relative risk is a thing. Most people don’t realize they are more likely to die from infection due to a hamster bite, than from say a shark attack - and even more so in traffick on the way to the beach. But no - lets get a HUUUGE diving knife, in case we need to duel a whitetip.
If you want to be rationally justified in what you are proposing you should consider relative risk, before anything else and THEN choose what to carry.
But some people just find it sexier run about with a big knife “just in case” and talk on the phone while driving and eating a bunch of shit that will in all likelyhood grant them a swift death from a car crash or general obesity anyway, than to actually be situationally aware and reasonable.
In fact a fair amount of people - some happy gun owners - would be better off permanently strapped to a portable heartstarter a cylinder of O2 and with a quality GPS locator device embedded in their scalp.
Frankly most people would be safer wearing a bicycle helmet, than carrying a knife, if given the choice.
Hey - maybe a bullet proof vest and a helmet, just in case? Or a full set of plate armour. You could waddle safely away from any knife fight wearing that.
Or you could stay at home - in a bunker, that seems very safe, never mind the fungus.
But I digress - of course everyone is so skilled at knife fighting these days, so there is absolutely no increased risc they will actually get disarmed and end up with their own blade in their gullet because they opted to escalate with the wrong person in one of them “supposed-to-end-all-show-of-force-displays”. Because we all know that a fight instantly stops when you draw a knife and we all know that in the rare event that someone should still advance all you need to do is reach out and poke them and they lie down instantly and give up the ghost.
Personally I carry a full dynamite belt and I have the black belt in terrorist grimacing, so anytime anyone disagrees with me I nonverbally convince them I am ready to nuke the whole place. Just in case. It’s the ONLY way to be sure.

i got the Large version as a edc, best knife i ever owned, does everything i need from edc cutting to defensive purposes and it does it all Looking like the king of knives! Only problem i have with it is that i spend alot of time polishing it haha!

@Vela S no it's not. Ask any pro knife fighter. With the Espada I would take on anybody with a 3.5 inch blade which most civilians carry. Its also comfortable to carry and no difference to a 3.5 inch folder.

I'm a long time Cold Steel freak, over 25 years. I have over 80 pieces from Cold Steel. About 40 of those are blades of some sort. I highly recommend buying them. Not once have I been even 1% disappointed. Razor sharp right out of the box every one. I buy nothing else now. It's like Christmas every time a box comes.... jump in. You'll be glad you did.

Say what you want about Cold Steel, but what company even has the balls to make folders of this caliber? 5.5-7.5" blades, high quality materials, the world's fastest knife opening method (faster even than an automatic, and some would argue actually better than an Emerson), the strongest and safest folding knife lock, with classic Spanish Navaja flavor. All for under $400. Not many CUSTOM folders can even approach that. What an achievement.
Yeah, they're made in Taiwan. LOTS of high quality blades come out of Taiwan. Every Taiwanese Cold Steel I've ever owned has been lightyears ahead of every Chinese knife I've ever held in my life. Make 'em in America, jack the price up an extra $50 for little to no gain in quality.

Navaja really just means folding knife, the blade types can vary. A Bowie Knife is also a pretty broadly defined term but usually means a large, fixed blade knife featuring a clip point. So a "folding Bowie knife" sounds about right here... Don't try to school someone unless you know what you're talking about dumb-ass.
