Having children is a choice. Having a mental illness or disability isn't.
The other way around. Once children are there, having them is not a choice. While mental health and disability are not making people unable to work, so people with these conditions should work, and stop relying on public finances

No one chooses having a mental health issue or a disability though, do they? And while in some instances having either of these two may not disable someone from working, sometimes they do, unlike with children.
But would be parents know now days know before the baby is born if it will be disabled/have issues..
They have a choice to continue with the pregnancy or abort it...
Parents that wish to continue with the pregnancy should. Know that the state will not support that child. It gets basic state aid if it's the within the 2 child limit.. nothing more...
We are going to fund children now because in all Western countries the birth rates are plummeting downwards. It's vital that people are encouraged to and supported in having children, they are an asset. A good investment.
@@sbcumb238 Birth rates are falling across the planet. a) this is natural, and b) it is desirable. What is vital are better health and social care, so older people can continue to work if they so choose. Better support and education for children generally, including child care, so parents can work and children are looked after better. What we don't need is supporting uncontrolled breeding, usually by people who have low education levels.
How about people waiting to have kids until they can afford them?

I would have loved more than two children, my husband and i worked full time, we stopped at two, because we knew couldnt afford anymore kids. Dont have kids if cant afford them.

Why should anyone have to pay for my kids??? My choice to have them. Me and my husband work hard and can provide for our children. We shouldn't be entitled to anything. This is where we go wrong as a country. Everyone wants a free handout

Yes, let’s make it absolutely not worth going to work as you can get free money from the minority of people who actually work and fund the government. I can’t stand Sunak et al, but going back to massive benefit bills would be a disaster.
@jonesyjones7626 come on, be fair, labour have been very tight lipped when the subject of pensions comes up, so I think they are planning some benefit cuts. But if you're a Nan like me, don't be fooled by Sunak's Pension promises they are about as reliable as his tax claims. Rest assured the only promise any party will keep is getting rid of tax for buying and selling houses, as most politicians have so many of them compared to the rest of the populating that are largely excluded from the housing market and sadly in some cases from housing full stop!

@@julianshepherd2038they're quite clear that they're trying to tackle other expenses that apply to more people, as a result of this it should relieve financial pressure on everyone including those with more than 2 children. This policy proposed is a good thing however wether it is the most optimal allocation of funds at this current moment to secure long term solutions is where labour believes there are better options

Rightwingers are so simplistic in their thinking. They don't do nuance, depth or thorough understanding of any social issues. This shallow thinking is what underpins policies that lead to increased levels of poverty, inequality and massive disparity in incomes. In not overturning the callous decisions made by the Tories over the last 14 years Labour is allowing it's over caution to override common sense, morality and basic labour values.

Have you ever heard of making changes as it is affordable. Maybe once they get the economy in a better position they can then continue to make changes once the money is available. I know someone with 3 kids to 3 different dads, one has autism (great kid! Verbal & non-violent). She doesn’t work. They have just moved into a newly built council house with solar panels, garden & 3 king size bedrooms.
The 4 of them went to Disneyland last year, she then went to Spain with her friends… & the 4 of them then went to Egypt for Christmas!!
We the taxpayers are paying for all of this while I struggle to pay for my body 1 bedroom private let!!

Some years ago there were some well off mothers saying they felt embarrassed at collecting child benefit so perhaps a different system could be put in place.

The cost of removing the two-child limit, or the saving to the Treasury from having introduced it, is this year £2.1bn, rising to £3.4bn after five years.
and SUNAK gave away 4.2 billion to diff countrys as gifts most of it went to a india when he attended a charity get together ..not mentioning money given to rwanda/france/iraq/ukrain..
and that muppit cameron made it law that we have to give away each year about 13 billion. ( we could have canceled the 2 child cap limit ) instead gave the money to other countrys .

My wife and discussed the fact we cannot afford more than two children so did not make our family larger.
I support the two child limits on benefits. People who can not afford children should not have more than they can afford. We the tax payers should not bail out People who want larger families.
1. Exclude Muslims from the child benefit
2. Reduce payment per person by a factor of 2 and lift the cap to 4 children per a 2-parent family (still 2 for a single parent unless the second parent is dead)
We all know who would be laughing all the way to the bank if they lift the 2 child cap. Say goodbye to our grandchildren’s futures
