Btw. I have some VERY interresting thoughts about the metaphysical aspects of this holy herb if you would like to hear them out. I am a certified yerbamate practitioner (hehe).

Wrooooooooooong. The first people to drink yerba mate were the Guarani indians of the State of Paraná - south of Brazil. This indians are the inventors of this drink. On the Pampa where the gauchos (south american cowboys) originated, there was no yerba mate, and it was carried there in seeds when the Guaraní Indians from Paraná state ("Del Guairá" Zone) were expelled by the Bandeirantes (Portuguese explorers). Yerba Mate and the drink mate, chimarrão or whatever you want to call the drink, originates in the Brazilian state of PARANÁ. 90% of the Uruguayan yerba mate comes from here. Argentina gave a Award to the Brazilian state of Paraná as the best mate herb of Brazil (the certificate is in our museum Paranaense. i have a photo). The oldest brand of mate is still in production is from Paraná State. (Fontana Pura Folha - Mate Real). Sorry about my English.
