This anime was really good. It tried very hard. It showed. There were a few flaws, but it's not necessary to nitpick. Solid 8.5/10, great watch if you don't mind emotional complexity and cute tanookis~
My thoughts on Uchouten Kazoku 2/ Eccentric Family 2. It's a bit over the place though. Hopefully it makes sense. Season 1 I give 9.5/10. Season 2 I give 7.5/10. I would like to know what you guys think about the points I make and why you disagree or agree with them. Uchouten Kazoku 2 There really was a better way to do this. If I was Yasaburou who loves Akadama sensei and Benten, I wouldn’t have gone to Nidaime. Of course I wouldn’t want Benten to see through the Nise-mon because she eats tanuki. I would have gone to sensei first which failed. Then to Benten 2nd. Even she can understand why Yasaburou would oppose her seeing it though but she wanted to hear it. The fact Yasaburou went to Nidaime is what hurt her. Obviously it can’t compare that she ate Yasaburou’s father but even the father was resigned to his death and Yasaburou has a crush on Benten somehow. My favourite character is Benten but it is odd how Yasaburou likes her. It is the idiot’s blood of his father. Also I wouldn’t ever get on Benten’s bad side after knowing she literally fights demons in hell and is the only one willing to bring someone in and out of hell. If that old man from the Friday club tosses him or his family in hell, who’s gonna rescue them? Oh Benten also asks if Yasaburou likes her or Nidaime the 2nd time. The 1st time she already gave the warning if he gives a vague answer again, she would toss him in the pot. I guess threats like that is pretty low though. Yet he still answers vaguely the 2nd time. I don’t like how Nidaime keeps saying his father is unfit to be a tengu. What’s he supposed to do? Drop dead just because he can’t fly anymore? I also didn’t how Yaichirou is pushing Yasaburou to marry first and not even Yajirou (the frog) who is the 2nd oldest. Yasaburou still looks young. I could see Kaisei being a tsundere and liking Yasaburo but I’ve never seen Yasaburo like Kaisei romantically even though in episode 9, everyone was talking as if they liked each other but didn’t realize it. I can never romantically like or have a tsundere as best friend though. I see Kaisei and Yasaburou as best friends more. I very approve of Yaichirou and Gyokuran though :) The conflict between Nidaime and Benten really doesn’t interest me as well. It is interesting that a human tries to be a tengu and a tengu doesn't have to accept that he is one though. The former is not so hard to believe. Even when they want to be something else, Benten still acts like a human and Nidaime still acts like a tengu. I like Yasaburou and Benten together but obviously it doesn’t make sense for Yasaburou to be someone that eats tanuki every year but just like that professor who had the same mindset as Benten had a change of heart. Benten could have a change of heart as well. We hear that Benten cries a lot at the frog’s well, I have a feeling she regretted eating Yasaburou’s father but also thought he was delicious. How did Kaisei’s father liveeee? What the heck? Did Kaisei know he didn’t die? Did she not bury or cremate him? I love the grandma tanuki and I’ve had to ask myself at least twice if she just died or went to sleep haha Okay the end scene of Yasaburou and Kaisei at the end is pretty cute and nice, I feel bad for Benten though but I’m glad she’s not dead. “I knew long before that I wasn’t the one Benten needed” - Yasaburou I mean I think it’s pretty clear she loves Yasaburou. "I love you so much that I could eat you but once I eat you, you'll be gone forever and that's immensely sad". I think Yasaburou ended up choosing Kaisei because she did cry when Yasaburou said he rather marry an object than marry her and because everyone kept saying they saw the red fur of fate between them. Kaisei has legit rescued him a bunch of times as well so that’s a reason as well. Benten has rescued Yasaburou a number of times as well. For real rescued him from the depths of hell. I think Yasaburou has fun with both of them and pities both of them so really the only extra thing pushing him to marry Kaisei is the red fur of fate and his tanuki duties. I don’t we’ve ever seen a tanuki with a non tanuki partner yet in the anime. “A fun thing is a good thing” - Yasaburou “There is nothing more to do than have fun in life” - Yasaburou I don’t completely agree with these 2 sayings but it tried to give a message and it delivered it well. I still I love this anime, not so much season 2 but more season 1. Season 1 was close to being a masterpiece. Season 1 I give 9.5/10. Season 2 I give 7.5/10
still one of the strangest, most specific anime's I have ever witnessed, it kind of follows its own rules, and I like that a lot. And it was the first anime I ever really watched while it was being simulcasted through crunchyroll so it holds a special place in my heart

Good thing is the author has announced there's gonna be a third one, hard to get info cuz i dont know japanese, but to give you an idea first book was released in 2007 second one in 2015 and anime season 2 aired in 2017, so maybe when the new book is released, it wont take too long for the anime studio to work on it :) you can read the first two books by the way, some fans translated them into english.
The first season of this series is out already. They just announced Season 2. I would NOT count on Season 2 being picked up by NISA. It looks like NISA has not licensed any new anime in a while.
great anime like when marnie was there , escalfowne , paroania agent , dective conan , perfect blue , golden boy , fimiliar of zero , now and then here and there , nausicaa valley of the wind , guyver armer of Gods , Revolutionary Girl Utena go unnoticed every day while the mainstream anime climb the ladder only to disappoint in the long run i dont mind watch series with big tittie anime characters but it would be a nice change for some developement in the script writing and direction of those shows just once i would like to know a slice of life anime was considered awarding winning those who work in a industry atmost are near if not close to down right slavery it has almost taken over the japanese anime market in terms of working shcedules and the harsh reality of the industry itself i would be more interested in knowing only 5 or 10 anime were released the following year knowing the industry does what it was set to do entertain

There's no question dubs grow the market... NIS chose to stick to subs with most of its licenses. These shows did NOT sell well and as a consequence it looks like NISA is quietly pulling out of the anime licensing market. NISA have NOT licensed anything new in quite a while -- probably 2-3 years at this point. People may hate Aniplex's pricing but they dub everything they license and their shows sell partly because they're bilingual.

Now, that you bring that to my attention, most of the OLDER series Aniplex licensed before THEY got into the US anime market market were dubbed by other companies like Media Blasters (Rurouni Kenshin TV), ADV Films (Rurouni Kenshi OVAs), and Gurren Lagann (Bandai USA). Aniplex DID commission the dubs for most of the Fate series that THEY (Aniplex) released on their own except for Fate/Stay Night (TV) which was dubbed for the Geneon US release. I think nowadays, the anime IP owners end up owning most of the English dubs. I don't know how much of the dubs they pay for if they sublicense of Funimation, Viz, etc. I think Justin Sevakis and other guys at ANN said the situation was more difficult for pre-2004 English dubs, especially if the companies that produced the dubs were out of business (Streamline, CPM). The dubs might be in a legal grey area where nobody owns them and master tapes might not even exist anymore. I hope people were just kidding when they said English audio had to be ripped off old VHS, DVD and laserdisc releases to include them on current-day DVD and Blu ray releases! Obviously, the Japanese companies CAN own the dubs outright if they're doing their own direct releases to the US market. BUT as Pony Canyon and NIS American have shown, just because you're in the US market doesn't mean you're going to make a huge profit. There have been at least a half-dozen Japanese companies that tried to make a go of it and set up offices in the US but eventually gave up on direct anime distribution in the US. Bandai, Toei, NIS, Pony Canyon, and off the top of my head not sure who else (Anime Sols whoever they were) tried but pull out within 4-5 years.
You're technically right about Pony Canyon. The guys haven't distributed anything on home video from like August 2016 until they released Sound! Euphonium Season 2 and re-release Yuki Yuna is a Hero this year. They only license to basically promote (and maybe stream on Crunchyroll) now that some of the stuff they promoted eventually got licensed by Sentai Filmworks. That's how pathetic they are. At least they don't steal back the stuff already licensed by someone else.

I came for Yaichiro, but I stayed for Yajiro. Without the two eldest brothers and maybe even the old Tengu man, this show would be terrible.
