  • Built between 1929 and 1941on the south bank of the Thames for easy coal delivery and access to an infinite water supply, this coal-fired power station provided a fifth of London's electricity at its peak. Decommissioned between 1975 and 1983, it stood empty from the 1980s, reopening as an office, residential, retail and hospitality complex in 2022.
One of the world's largest brick buildings (6 million), it's notable for original Art Deco interior fittings and decor and was Grade II listed in 2007. The tour shown with Lift 109 cost £21 on Sunday 5 May 2024.
