  • The Volvo XC40 is the subcompact-to-compact crossover vehicle in the Volvo line. The Volvo XC90 won the North American Truck of the Year along with so many other awards that it is the winning-est luxury SUV of all time. Recently, the XC60 won the World Car of the Year Award. This XC40 enters the market just a little bit bigger than the competition and with more standard power thanks to 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder and 248hp. The XC40 comes with standard AWD in Canada and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The XC40 is a compact crossover, or SUV with seating for 5-passengers over three rows of seats. it starts at $39,500 in the Canadian market with the R-Design starting at $34,700. The XC40 compact utility has room for 5-passenger and a surprising amount of cargo space, in fact it has more room than much of the competition.

    Lovely car, really stands out. This review made me feel excited like when I just started to follow this channel with focus on not just interior but also showing us the bulges and the curves of the exterior. Nice job! I've been following for years.

      I also find the references to women cringeworthy and irrelevant. And this comment about being single is equally unprofessional, turning constructive well thought out criticism into locker room banter. Remember, @motormouthcanada, not everyone is a straight male.

    Volvo's are very expensive in Canada and have very limited dealership network. Given the past reliability issues, pricing and lack of dealer support why not look at the 2019 Acura RDX for the same money but with the support and coverage of the Honda/Acura dealer network.

      Yes, initially, but I think he's coming from a marketing data/statistics perspective, so it makes sense in that context. Any company marketing a product focuses extensively on gender preferences... it's a primary factor in how a product is developed and marketed.

      There is no actual gender preference. What is happening is the tail wagging the dog. Your preference is predetermined by the marketing and you are persuaded to buy what you never knew you wanted, Why else in Gods name would anyone by a pickup the size of a semi to commute to work in. These people rarely seem to haul anything and they are usually driving alone.

      J High Really? Are we going to go through this again? Sigh,in 2005 I remember someone saying Range rovers are bad,I said the exact same thing you said...2015 they’re still unreliable.
      Volvo has always had a bad rep for reliability & poor build quality.On Friday night I was on the Volvo forum (because I don’t mind buying one,but coming from Lexus for most of my life I don’t want a vehicle that will waste my time at any dealer or mechanic.
      I do research & many of their drive trains as of 2015 to now have been below average on many of their forums...Hence my reason for talking about reliability.

    • @kenlow8685
      @kenlow8685 6 років тому

      Roy Park Hi, yes I’m in Canada. The Volvo dealership actually doesn’t know much about Care by Volvo, but promised to get me more details. We have a 3 month wait until it arrives. I doubt it will be as cheap as the $600 monthly subscription fee promised to the US buyers, but it should be a good deal and one that we will look at seriously as an alternative to buying outright.

    • @roypark5363
      @roypark5363 6 років тому

      Hey there! Yeah you're right. Just found out that Volvo Canada said the price for subscription won't be released until later this year while the vehicle is available in a few months as you mentioned. And yes, it wouldn't be as low as what people pay for in the states considering the currency and so on. Hoping to be around $800-900 though. Payment+Maintenance+insurance for $900 is not a bad structure I guess! What do you think?

    • @kenlow8685
      @kenlow8685 6 років тому

      Roy Park If insurance is $250 per month (almost that here in BC for a new car), then it would be $550 for the car including maintenance if the subscription is at $800. So I feel $550 is not too bad for no worries and chance to get a new car in 2 years (such as the electric version to be introduced later). At that level, it’s probably less than a lease cost. But not sure it’s a good deal at $900 subscription. I will just buy it as I am likely to keep it for many years - wife doesn’t like to change vehicles.

      100% this is geared towards woman. White, living in the city area, mid 30s to mid 40s, married, with one or max two young kids. Woman love SUVs, but as pointed out by Zach and others, want a 'complient/(boring)' ride with the vehicle having a reputation for safety and status to show off to others they are successful in the upper middle class segment. I too think this will be a huge hit in that market segment.
