Hedwig's death is one of the saddest for me, she just wanted to protect Harry but in order to do that she sacrificed herself, what's worst is that we never knew where her corpse went and her death was only for a brief moment... I'm guessing Harry grieved her death alone since he didn't want to bother the others during a war was happening and he is the type of peron who doesn't want to be a burden than he already thinks he is, which isn't true but yeah having everyone die just to save you and not do anything about it must've been painful especially since a lot of them died infront of his eyes. But yeah I get your saddest death count

Here's a little story: You know the picture in the thumbnail? Yeah, that one! In that scene they had to mute, they didn't choose to, they had to, because Harry's scream was filled with so much pain that made both Helena and Emma cry. They muted the moment because it would ruin the effect of hearing the deatheater that killed Sirius cry..

I always felt that every death in HP meant to show us something... Like, Hedwig, for example - I believe her death really marks the end of innocence, especially since it coincides with Harry's transition to the 'adult' world. Tonks & Lupin, they are the ones who left a child behind, as so many have, but at least they died together. Mad-Eye Moody, died like a warrior he was... Snape, well, can you imagine how his life would be if he survived? He would be, until the end of his life, a miserable man... he could never have what he loved the most, but at least, he righted his wrongs. Not to go into every death now, but there is some (very little, indeed) level of comfort in them... EXCEPT Fred! Fred's death shows us that no matter what all of those who survived will never, ever be the same and whole again. It goes to show the REAL toll War has taken on all of them. Without it, I don't think we would truly understand how bad and difficult it all was.

Out of all the movies the death that hit me the hardest was Snape's. I saw something that said "there is one reason that Lily and Snape didn't ended up together, Snape wanted to be with Lily but he couldn't truly understand love until Lily died." when she died he felt something he had never felt before, he lost the love of his life. James gave Lily something that Snape could not. Love and affection, but after her death he had so much love and affection to give but no one to give it to.

Emma Watson and Helena Bonham Carter did an interview where they admitted that during the shooting of the death of Sirius Black, the scream and face of agony that Dan Radcliffe gave was so emotional, it made the 2 of them cry on set. It was such raw emotion, the producers and directors chose to edit out the sound of Dan's cried from the film.

No one should have died.... Every time I read about someone dieing in Harry potter I scream "god damn you J.K!!!

I immediately burst out in tears when I read the one where lilly said she was looking after fred how nolly had looked after harry
Yeah, as an author I can tell you that killing off popular characters is a common writing technique, even if it's hard on the author and audience.
It's also the best test if the character was actually real to people, when you grieve for fictional characters as if they were family.
As a reader I can tell you that it's painful when a character you have come to love is no longer apart of the story. As a kid, the students, the teachers, the Order of the Phoenix, and everyone else in the Harry Potter universe were my best, and often only friends growing up, and watching their life fade was always the most painful thing for me.
At least they live on, in the hearts of the fans, where they are never truly dead, and if we ever miss them too much, we can always use our time turners to return to the books where they are still alive
