Hostage is one of Billie's creepiest tunes to my way of thinking. An obsessive teenage girl keeps her secret love imprisoned in the cellar. The interpretive dance gives her a chance to show her love for physical expression, and you see her intimidate the boy repeatedly each time he thinks she is warming to him. Vaguely reminds me of Jodie Foster in "The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane" from the 1970s.

Yes, I agree. It's for sure one of her creepiest tunes. The video also is very disturbing. The ending with her trapping the guy like spiders store their next meal is quite scary. It's intriguing her recurring usage of spider imagery, tho

She originally was going to be a dancer but an injury ended that dream. So she sang a song her brother wrote for an assignment "Ocean Eyes". He uploaded that to SoundCloud and she blew up. Check out her original song "Six Feet Under" some time.
Lol I'm subscribed but I mostly comment on Billie videos bc those are the ones I feel like I have something to add to, you know? :) Anyways, I saw a comment once under this mv that said something along the lines of that they thought that when the light in the video is red that symbolizes the bad times and the blue symbolizes the better times in the relationship. They put it more eloquently than that but you get the point, I thought it made sense. I'm glad you still like her music, great video!

I’m sure I’ve asked u before to react to Billies opening act of her US tour her name is Jessie Reyez. She’s very dark,talented, her writing is very vulnerable. She writes about stuff women usually do. We women like to hide letting someone who devalues us. She doesn’t!
Billie was training to be a professional dancer, before all of this, but had to retire at 13 because she tore her hip flexor, which caused her to live in constant pain, from her neck to her feet, but she never shows she’s in pain.
