    More in 10 minutes than BRS would in a 6 part investigate series that takes 2 months

      This comment made my week, Thanks... the goal of this video was to highlight things I wish someone had told me years ago and reduce learning curve for hobbyists. Flow can be challenging to get right, especially with poor guidelines like low, medium, or strong. The truth is all species require a combination of all 3. Thanks again 😊

    nicely done.. i use the complete aquarium as the water column.. jet on the back and front circulate clockwise.. or reverse to flow the other way around instead of the middle swirling

    I saw you were using vinegar to clean your MP60s. I’d recommend to start using citric acid instead because the vinegar has been linked to the magnets busting.

    • @AquariumSurge
      @AquariumSurge  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the tip! I've heard about that, so I usually only soak my magnetic impellers in vinegar for 30 seconds or less.

      @AquariumSurge  5 місяців тому +1

      @dazsboxofwater I was actually born and raised in Surrey. If you really want a seaswirl just email Ed (owner). He is pretty responsive and sure he would ship. There used to be devices similar called wavysea, but they stopped making them. Probably not enough sales for a profitable business. Reason why they are so overpriced bc you rarely have to replace them

    Hi Ash, great video and tank you have 👍 your toad leather is doing amazing in your tank with the other corals and I wanted to know what your full parameters are, because mine is unhappy.

    • @AquariumSurge
      @AquariumSurge  2 місяці тому

      Thanks, I dont have the toadstool anymore that was my previous tank. parmeters probably not as important as placement and flow. They definately prefer space and medium to strong flow. Once they are happy they will balloon up and grow too fast. Parametes i kept in that tank was around alk 7-8DKH, CA 400ppm, MG 1400PPM, No3 5 and phosphates .1+, i did dose acro power, iodine, and iron so that may have helped.

    Bro did you ever experience aggression btw your tangs?

    • @AquariumSurge
      @AquariumSurge  4 місяці тому

      @slipknotfreak744 Yes. Started with 2 baby purples and ended up with one. Had 3 yellow tangs and now I have one. Unless they pair in captivity, which rarely happens they eventually turn on each other. Every other tang nothing major

  • @chelseaananda2831

    How do you know this isn’t too turbulent and exhausting for your fish?

    • @AquariumSurge
      @AquariumSurge  4 місяці тому +1

      @chelseaananda2831 most fish can handle it and seem to prefer strong flow when lights are on. It actually keeps them healthy because they have to swim more. However they dont like strong flow when lights are out and they are sleeping. That's why i suggest to reduce the flow if your flow is high during the day

    You're gonna get Dinos like crazy with all the dry rock..
    I will NEVER set up another tank with dry rock only...
    You need some live rock in there and a TON of bacteria supplements

      My "dry rock" set up took TWO years to start to mature... I knew it would, but didn't want to risk having to battle pests.... (battled Dinos instead) lol
      I Miss, and would love to have all the little forms of life. Little feather duster worms, squirts, sponges and tiny brittle stars....
      I'm trying to get some live rubble from my LFS's decades old pest free reef tank....
      But they just laugh. I may have to offer some ridiculous $$$ to get some clean diversity of life.

    expert? just asking... less flow during the night ?? ocean/sea don't have a tide/flow break and most of the corals as well as fish came from ocean to our glass boxes

    • @AquariumSurge
      @AquariumSurge  Місяць тому +1

      You're absolutely right that the ocean doesn’t stop moving at night-there’s no 'break' in tides or flow. In our glass boxes, however, the flow serves multiple purposes beyond mimicking nature. For example, many reefers reduce flow at night to simulate calmer lagoon-like areas where fish and corals naturally experience lower flow, helping some fish feel safer to rest. It also saves a bit of energy in home setups. At the end of the day, it’s all about finding what works best for your reef and its inhabitants.
