Steve Taylor just running all over the field. But he lost a ton of yardage in sacks in his career. I remember in 1989 fans were asking well, what are we going to do without Steve Taylor at Quarterback? Then Gerry Gdowski as a Senior ran for almost a 1,000 yards! Sadly, No one remembers Gdowski, but he was a great running quarterback and an excellent athlete.

I’m a huge fan of Gerry “The Polish Rifle” Gdowski. I think he was more effective than Steve Taylor. It is a real shame that he only had one season as the starter.

TracyHarvey played in this gm for ASU. Later transferred to UF, boosting the pukey SEC. The Calif native, Harvey, later had a very productive NFL career.

1987: AzSt was in rebuild-mode. Ditto 1996 Neb that lost at Tempe. 1995 AzSt, roadgraded at Lincoln, had a decent amount of talent. The 1975 gbr squad who lost the 1975 Fiesta Bowl to AzSt was a 'down' yr squad by 1970s Neb fb standards.

Boy, I don't remember this game much at all. I remember the 1988 game much better. No idea what the final score was here.

49:30 Ken Clark almost broke that pitch down the sideline! Would have been great to see him get a long touchdown run. Just bumped out of bounds. Nobody tackled him.

Todd Milliken and Tom Bandaras were both great tight ends! What a play on the fake field goal!

12:46 All of those times 4O times are Electronic, not hand held. Converted to hand times Steve Taylor ran 4.34, Rod Smith 4.30, and Jones and Brinson were an incredible 4.13 and 4.13 respectively. Unofficially maybe the two fastest guys to this day to ever play at Nebraska. That's little bit deceptive though as Brinson consistently ran better times then Jones did. The last time Keith was timed in Winet conditioning of '87 he ran 4.42 Electronic. That's still a 4.22. However, Brinson ran the 4.37 Electronic and later on ran even faster. Terry Rodgers Johnny the Jet's boy was almost as fast as Brinson before he blew out his knee the second time. Terry didn't play in '87 because he was Redshirting with the first blown knee. But he did play some as a True Freshman in 1986. Then Terry came back in 1988 and ran 4.38 electronic in winter conditioning, a blistering 4.18! He looked like the next great Husker I-Back after the '88 game against Arizona State, both he and starter Ken Clark had around a 135 yards in that game. Sadly, Terry blew out the other knee shortly after that. No telling how good Terry Rodgers might have been. He was a dazzling runner. Fortunately, Clark was there and rushed for 1,500 as a Junior. Ken had great balance, power and cutting ability, but lacked the World Class speed that Rodgers possessed. That being said, Clark was one of my favorite players.

47:05 what an awesome play. The flea-flicker. Pitch to Clark, back to Taylor hits maybe the fastest player in the nation Dana Brinson in stride long down field for the touchdown! Going crazy, it's nullified for an illegal man down field! Don't think it would have made any difference really. That was crap., if anything the lineman was pushed up field by a Arizonia State defender. He wasn't even on his feet. Touchdown should have counted.

We won, but Steve Taylor was loose with the ball. God, he was Mr. Scary.

Yeah, Steve Taylor flagging the football. Carried it out there in one hand like a loaf of bread. Yikes! Nearly broke that run at 24:18 of this video. Steve was super fast. Would have been a great running back. Richard Bell would have been a great Running Back.

Yeah, a big chunk were gbr fans, but this video proves there was an extended era of AzSt cfb when Sun Devils played b4 borderline sellout crowds that were loud (1970s thru 1987).

Close game, back and forth, but Nebraska won it at the end. The game next year in Lincoln wasnt quite as dramatic with NU crushing ASU 47-16.

rawn4203 - Huge break for NU to get the ball back when it was clearly a fumble when tied 21-21. NU keeps the ball and next play scores. Game changer. Should have been ASU ball. As for the next season 47-16 NU win.....ASU was decimated by Cooper leaving for Ohio State.

Tell me, why did the refs take the TD away ? Please elaborate on the call.

Trace Armstrong transferred out of ASU, and became a 1st round pick out of U of Florida. Lame Ass ASU lists him as an ASU 1st round pick. ASU a few years back removed 20,000 seats from their stadium. They should go to only intramural football by 2025.

@@jessem7556 - Feel free to look him up on Wikipedia. Armstrong redshirted at ASU in 1984. He played in 10 games in 1985. In 1986 he was a back up and started 2 games in ASU’s 10-1-1 Rose Bowl winning season. In 1987 Armstrong was an honorable mention for All-American as the Sun Devils finished the season ranked 20th and won the Freedom Bowl over Air Force.
Armstrong was denied a final year of eligibility by the NCAA due to an "academic mix-up," which he could only recoup if he transferred to another school. However, he was granted immediate eligibility after the NCAA waived its transfer rule in an unusual academic status case from high school which allowed the transfer - which ended up being Florida.
Why wouldn’t ASU claim him? Of course UF will claim him. Now you’re educated.
