    “Book of the End” has the ability to take the user’s presence and insert it into people’s memories, BUT in order to do so he has to insert himself in the place of someone that’s already there. Similar to how a bookmark is a place holder, he must replace someone who is already there.
    In terms of objects he inserts himself into the object’s past, allowing him to not only change or alter it but can gain knowledge about it as seen with Senbonzakura.
    Easiest way to think about it would be to think about how a bookmark is inserted into a book to hold a place. He can only insert himself in the place of another, he can’t put himself into someone’s memory and ADD himself to it.
    With how it started to negatively impact Chad and Orihime, think of it as you trying to fit more pages into a book. One or two pages wouldn’t have much of an impact on it, but when you start trying to fit more and more pages into it the structural integrity of the book gets compromised and you risk the book breaking apart.
    The safest way to use this on a person is to insert yourself in place of someone else and keep things that simple. Try to make memories that weren’t there and they’ll have a breakdown and mentally shut off.

    I like how out of all of Ichigo's friends and family that book of the end affected, Byakuya was the only one who cared enough about Ichigo and what Ichigo meant to him to not let it affect his overall judgement. It's not that Byakuya killed Tsukishima as he would any other enemy, he actually killed his best friend because he believed in Ichigo so much. Since Byakuya is so old compared to humans, Tsukishima was really ingrained within Byakuya's memory compared to how much he was in Chad, Orihime and the rest. Yet he still killed Tsukishima so cold heartedly.
    Yay, best girl is next though!

      More like Byakuya's sense of morality is so blue and orange in combination of him using his powers directly in front of Byakuya is what defeated Tsukishima. Name a character who lives by that logic. You are stabbed by Tsukishima. Your memories resurface. You remember him and how he helped you develop your powers.....as he stands in front of you with his sword brandished and your shikai activated. I get the whole thing about how he's Ichigo's enemy.
      But I feel like it was just more obvious that something was wrong. This familar guy in front of him that he's clearly fighting. At that point Byakuya decided REGARDLESS how his memories he should strike down the enemy in front of him because there's a reason he was fighting him.

    Well, remember what Fullbringers are able to do in general is manipulate the "soul" of things. It's difficult for Westerners to get since animism isn't familiar to our culture, but in religions like Shintoism, even inanimate objects have "souls" -- that's how Ginjo was able to make the alcohol float into his mouth or how Fullbringers in general are able to jump far by pulling on the "soul" of the air beneath their feet. So when Tsukishima inserts himself into the history of an object, he's not really manipulating time because he's inserting his presence into the soul of just the object or person that is being cut. And similar to what Ginjo does to the alcohol, Tsukishima's influence over the soul of the object actually changes its physical characteristics and causes, say, traps to manifest as if they'd always been there. The soul really is being treated like a book here. You don't have to actually go back in time to when the book was originally written to change the story. If you were really going back in time or affecting the space-time continuum, more than just the object being cut would be affected. There would be a butterfly effect.

      Great explanation

    • @nnoiboi6248
      @nnoiboi6248 4 роки тому +9

      The only reason Tsukishima is able to do what he does is because whatever he cuts literally affects ONLY the timeline of that person/thing, but it does so physically, causing people's memory to be altered in the process and objects to trigger the way he wants them to.

      Makes no sense. Those novels are just causing uneeded confusion, it's better to think of them as external filler.
      The manga did a good enough job saying that their mother survived a Hollow attack when pregnant with them and the hollow's venom fused with the fetus (not unlike with Ichigo) and augmented their soul. Their soul then resonated with the soul of something of extreme value to them thus awakening the soul of said object and its subsequent abilities. We also see in the first arc that not everyone attacked by a hollow needs to be something special. They could be collateral damage or have a personal connection to the hollow. Rukia did say that they go after their family first when the soul hollowfies.
      Not everyone has to have a direct connection to the damned Soul King. Don Konanji could see and fight hollows. What was his connection to the Soul King?

    So Tsukishima is telling a person/object (by slashing them with his sword) that he "did something in their past", and the person/object goes "oh, okay", and then becomes altered in accordance to "what Tsukishima claims he did."

    I have a theory:
    I think book of D. end pretty much treats the history of whatever is being stabbed as a book, Tsukishima can read the information in it, as well as remove and add new information, but that comes with two major restrictions:
    1 - the alterations he makes affect the history of what was stabbed but doesn't create a domino effect that changes the history of other things/people. e.g. he can change Chad's memories involving Ichigo but that doesn't change Ichigo's memories of the same events.
    2 - the alterations must avoid major contradictions with other information present in the target's history. book of D end can't be used to change the history of a bench so it was incinerated yesterday if someone sat on it between then an now, since a bench can't be sat on if it doesn't exist anymore. That would mean the closer to the present the event is the bigger are the changes that can be made, because there is less room for contradictions. This would explain why when Tsukishima changes events that happened long ago in the target's history he keeps the events mostly as they were only changing the people involved, this way the chance of any contradictions happening is greatly reduced.
    These two limitations also would explain why he could fix Ichigo's bankai in that specific moment; Zangetsu and Ichigo are one being so stabbing him should affect his bankai as well, and it happened in the imediatamente past so there is less room for contradictions and thus bigger changes can be made.

    • @hitogi06
      @hitogi06 4 роки тому +3

      The bankai thing is simple, he replaced Yhwach as the one who broke zangetsu, and since he doesn't have the almighty, the bankai wasn't broken in the future but in the past instead. This allowed ori to fix the bankai, since you can't reject something that technically didn't happen yet. Remember that Yhwach probably knew that ori could fix the bankai if he broke it in the present, so he brought the future where zangetsu was broken to the present, making it impossible for ori to fix it.
      My head canon.

    • @Monty2289
      @Monty2289 4 роки тому

      @@hitogi06 I can kind of understand this if Bach's power is understood inside of a tiny theoretical space where he can pick the future as he sees fit. He picked the one where the bankai was broken. When he left that theoretical space where the bankai was snapped went with it. Tsukishima's power combined with Orihime's was there to reject a future that never should have happened in the first place.

    • @Ephideltrance
      @Ephideltrance 4 роки тому

      Excellent explanation. I really think this is the best way to view his ability, otherwise it becomes more difficult to grasp. I think it really got confusing when we saw he can physically alter the present of objects by changing the past, this isn't possible with living beings.

    • @Ephideltrance
      @Ephideltrance 4 роки тому

      @@hitogi06 good explanation, although the manga explained it as Juha powers being too great for Orahime to reject. It was confusing, but ultimately it was just their combined powers fixing it. Orahime powers are also god level, she technically can reject anything she wants, even the future, but her powers are limited because she herself is just a human.

    • @hitogi06
      @hitogi06 4 роки тому +2

      @@Ephideltrance yeah something like that, since she is much much weaker than just, she couldn't reject it, and tsukishima used his fullbring to replace juha in ichigo's past, which now means it was him that broke the bankai making it possible to fix. Kind of like a glitch in a game that can bypass invisible walls.

    I think what it mean by "it can cut anything" is that when he's inserting the "bookmark" in to what ever, it doesn't matter what it is, it can have its past altered. I mean he did it in his fight with Byakuya, he cut the ground, and he cut Senbonzakura and inserted a "book mark" in both.

  • @loganhayse8771

    I thought when Tsukishima was cutting the ground; much like Ginjo was able to manipulate the soul of the drink he had when he showed off Fullbring; he put his bookmark into an object to manipulate that area he cut. He inserted himself to gain familiarity with the object he cut so he can use it.
    I think we have to change our perspective on how Tsukishima views people as well. I think to his blade and possibly Tsukishima, people are books. Inserting his bookmark means him reading said book to that point. It means he can read people's pasts. It's quite an interesting ability the more you think of it. But that's how I interpreted his skill

    The rewriting of someone's memories and the changing an object's past have to be separate abilities. Having a rock become a trap is something another person can experience the effects of. However, replacing Orihime's brother was something only she experienced. Ichigo still remembered the brother as he was. So in that respect, the memory changing cannot really be time manipulation.

    For Tsukishima's broken power explainations, i don't remember where, but i'm almost certain that the Fullbringer powers are directly drawn from the Soul King( not Brook, the other) and the hollow esplaination part is just the same thing that made Chad and Orihme fullbring being activated by Ichigo's presence, as much as did the Hogyoku in Rukia's body.
    That is also why Aizen was so impressed with Orihime ability, because it could revert time on any destructed limb and associated with Tsukishima's ability, it was even able to negate the stuff that Ywach was doing.
    And for Tensa, i could guess that the problem was more Ichigo's origins, from his past to his power, was part of the process to make him stronger and not to repair a fake zampakuto that was just a mess from his mixed reiatsu

    Like with the rock, it didn’t mean that he was actually present beck in time to rig the rock, and on obviously changing the rocks memory wouldn’t do anything.
    But if the story of the rock was to be changed to what he described it would be rigged. Therefore it becomes rigged when cut.
    Thats why his ability transcends memory, without affecting others memories when he inserts himself into the past.
    He almost like plucks a different timelines version of an object or person where he did do the thing, and replaces his timelines with it essentially.
    Person from time a didn’t meet tsuki’
    Person from time b did.
    Tsuki cuts timeline a’s Person. And makes them as if they were timeline b’s

    Well, yeah. But you have to count in Orihime too. I think it was part of her powers inside Kazui who destroyed the last trace of Ywachs existence. I think that Tsukishimas ability is a little bit confusing too, but maybe his abilitys are like Orihimes and are able to "reject the will if god"

    Tsukishima is my favorite. He is in the story like from the very start, guided and trained Ichigo in the first Arc. Defeated 3 Captain's in Rukia rescue Arc. Opened the gate of Hueco Mundo in the Arrancar Arc. And also sealed Aizen in Fake Karakura Arc but everyone only give him a credit for just fixing Ichigo's Bankai. I mean it's not fair. He is one of the main characters c'mon.

    let's say you've picked up a book from your shelve and read it. Then you place it back on the shelve. 10 years pass and you pick it up again, but some stuff in the book has been seamlessly edited. Character names, descriptors etc.
    This is how I've always viewed Book of the End

    I thought of Tsukashima’s power in the way that, because inserts himself into the past, he retroactively gains all the memories of his inserted self, teaching him everything about the person he cut. Not that he is reading their memories when he cuts them; Meaning no learning about Byakuya may or may not have done in his room when he was 13

    Hey Tekking what do you make of how Fullbringers pretty much learn their abilities "backwards"?
    By this I mean that for most groups, such as Shinigami & Quincies, as well as others outside *Bleach* like *Hunter x Hunter's Nen Users* they have to learn the basics first and eventually learn/ develop their unique abilities after reaching a certain amount of proficiency (Shikai once they can hear their swords voice/ Being deemed worthy of a Sternritter power by Ywach/ Becoming skilled enough with basic Nen to create a Hatsu).
    From what we see in the cases of every Fullbringer whose origin/ early years is shown, they all have their unique ability first- Riruka and Yukio both have their Dollhouse/ Invaders Must Die powers as kids, but don't seem to display bringer light proficiency,.
    Chad and Orihime awaken to their skin armour and Shun Shun Rika respectively long before they ever get any other spiritual/ fullbringer powers, even Ichigo is using his combat pass for a sort of proto-fullbring before he starts grasping usage of the bringer light when he's being specifically trained to fast-track his growth as a fullbringer.
    The closet thing to them in a sense is Stands from Jojo's, where they have the unique powers from the start and they just need to learn how to best apply both those powers and the stand in general.

This could be done using time remnants which are essentially temporary time clones. It would also explain how it seems that he has the ability to manipulate time itself.

    Tsukishima could adjust the history of how certain events play out a little bit or it would damage the individual. With objects he could adjust the history of his interaction with them.
    Shishigawara could cause different effects on people and objects via jackpot gambling basics.

    The way I understand is that why the wiki says history instead of past or memory is that his book mark is different for every person. So, instead of changing the past and entire space time continuum, Tsukishima some how isolates it to effect events in a person's past without effecting everyone else's past.

    Given information from the light novels it seems like Book of the End really does have the ability to change the past. It does so by inserting Tsukishima into the person or object's past where he didn't exist before. This can apparently be achieved by adding himself wholesale to an event as a new party entirely - as presumably happened with the Tensa Zangetsu situation and with the tree in CFYOW- OR by replacing a party that was already present. This is what he did to Orihime. And as a side-effect of this ability, the present is changed retroactively to fit this new past, as evidenced by his fight with Byakuya, fixing the bankai, and again with the tree in the light novel. In his fight with Byakuya he inserts himself as the person that taught Byakuya to fight. Therefore in the new present he knows all of Byakuya's techniques and becomes strong enough to have conceivably taught a captain level shinigami. With the tree, he altered the date HE had planted it and that added years onto its life in the present which is... Ridiculously powerful. With Tensa Zangetsu I... Have no idea what he did to fix that, your guess is as good as mine. But when you think about it, with how The Almighty works, it does make sense that it would be a counter. Yhwach has the ability to see every timeline concurrently and choose the outcomes he wants, like pruning branches off of a massive tree until only the ones he wants are left. But then, Tsukishima goes back and adds himself into the past in an event he wasn't in previously, thus creating an entirely new branch that hadn't been observed by Yhwach previously. It makes a certain kind of sense. But yeah, think of the past as a book and Book of the End as slipping a bookmark (Tsukishima) in between the pages. It's a ridiculously overpowered ability.

    I think I might know what it means by “affects history but not time or memories”
    If it affected time, then upon inserting himself in the memory of one Kurosaki he’d affect all of them, and wouldn’t be able to cause them to think of him as their family. He’d just be “that guy that suddenly was part of our lives at some point.”
    If he only affected memory, then his power would be useless on inanimate objects, unable to do that “I set a trap there years ago from the rock’s point of view” kind of trick.
    Affecting history means it’s confined to the one person/thing he cuts, having to cut multiple people for their shared history to all be altered.
