Thanks for watching everyone! This video is a little less “polished” than I would have liked. I need to figure out a better mic set up for when I'm talking at the beach. Regardless though I hope the information is useful. Having lost screws related to the steering on both the Mashigan and FJ, I felt it was an important piece of info to pass on. Check those fasteners everyone!
Moving the pin on the esc from crawler to boat makes it freewheel/ no drag brake. However it makes reverse at 50% I believe. That being said a simple esc swap to 1080 is a must. Transfer case is dry along with transmission behind the 550. The weight required some injora inserts (red) is what I recommend. Finally if pushing this platform tightening the slipper a tad bit helped me tune it better to my liking. That takes us to the weak link, the dogbone from transmission to transfer tends to break under alot of load.
Out of the box I immediately did a few upgrades: Fusion 1200kv, leaf springs & of course wheels + tires. Usually carry tools and screw set when out and about. Cool review.
Great review , yes the transfer case needs grease too. I did all my driveline when switching to fusion pro, overkill for this rig but oh well. Also installed front inner fenders , huge improvement. Wheels , tires, RC4WD winch , Injora shocks and scale driver. Minor detail but the hood louvers are real , I thought it was cool they went to that level of detail
Nice review! I installed a Hobbywing 1080 for approximately $40 and found it made a world of difference when dialed in compared with the harsh drag brake found on the stock ESC. Good looking out with the servo horn issue, I need to check that! I also installed a set of Amazon sourced oil filled shocks, but I'm not sure I would do that again if I was starting over. I too enjoy the undamped appearance of the stock shocks, and given that this rig will be confined to the trail for me, the shocks I installed seem like a waste for how I will be driving this rig.
Thank you! These are great rigs, they just need a little work to make them more enjoyable/reliable to drive. Working on a few simple mods for this truck currently. 👍
I must agree with your review. The body looks great but the car has some downsides. The ESC leaves no room for emulation. The servo isn't great, but it does its job on the trail. I lost the screw on the servohorn at the end of my first trail. I lost one of the blinkers on my 2e trail. One of the pins on my left front axle keeps backing out. The manual doesn't show the size of the screws - they all have the same partnumber. The transmission looks fragile - not sure how long it will keep up. The divorce-case looks more stout.
Yes, however there will be 6 holes left behind on the roof. You can fill the holes and paint it if you never want to use the roof rack. Looks like the white roof will come off as one piece, so once you get it removed you at least won't need to do any masking. Hope that helps. 👍
Gtrat review.!! 👍 👍 👍 Thank you for taking the time to show us the extra little details. Stay safe out there mate & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍 👍
Yes, the inclusion of such features would increase the cost, but please stop calling me Shirley. I would say that's probably a 1/9 if those are 1/10 scales you were comparing them to. Not even close to 1/6 or 1/7.
lol love the reference. 👍 I think mathematically the body is something like 1/6.5ish scale when you compare it to the real world body dimensions. Would have to double check though. The real thing isn't much larger than a CJ Jeep. The chassis however is about in line with a SCX10 III, GEN 8, etc. Just a tad larger so maybe 1/9 as you say.
@@MakeItRC 😁Well, you may be right, but like you said, there's only one way to be sure, measure a real one and divide it by 9, 7, 6, etc. Whatever it is, it's nice.✌☺

Great video! Thanx for the hints!

Nice truck it would be a good start for a full scale build 😊
Definitely would love to see a followup on upgrades. Good vid.
Thank you! Currently working on a few mods on this rig. There's a lot going on but hopefully I'll be able to make a video at some point. 👍
I sadly don’t have enough extra money to buy one 😢

Exact same problem with my FMS Toyota Fj40
Seems to be at least a somewhat common issue and a bit of an unfortunate oversight. Hope you were able to get yours sorted. 👍
Is it possible to remove the roof rail ?

You made it out to Oakes!
Yes great spot! Was wondering if someone would recognize it. I assume you're local?
I’m about 30 minutes south. We usually hit it up once a month
Nice. I'm planning to go out there more this year. Great spot, already met some great folks. Hopefully see you out there. 👍

Thank you! It's an awesome rig, just needs a few little upgrades and tweaks. 👍
