I was a 1st Lt at WPAFB in 1972 and assigned to the YF-16 Program Office. I was part of a team of 2 responsible for the stability & control/Flying Qualities on the source selection that eventually selected the F-16 as the newest Air Force fighter. While on that team I witnessed all of the early flights of the YF-16/YF-17 prototypes. It was an amazing time in the evolution of energy management and aerodynamics. EAFB was humming with the B-1A, F-15, YF-16/YF-17, A-9/A-10 and a variety of other aircraft in development. I met Colonel Boyd during the Air Combat Fighter Source Selection. I was friends with Major Joe Howard and Captain Jerry D. S. Bolt (both members of the USAF Thunderbirds). It makes me grin ear-to-ear to see a young ex-Thunderbird celebrating aviation and life with such vigor! God Bless You and Keep the Faith! Daryl (USAFA 1971)
Man, I've gotta give some massive "props" to Niko and whoever edited this video. Getting that footage alone is incredible but the editing was a seamless piece of art. Great work guys🙏🏻🤟🏻👊🏻
The YT recommendation algorithm has seriously wronged this channel. How does this channel only have 7k subs and I am just now finding this via searching after seeing an instagram post?
That join up with the drone is CRAZY! The fact that it can come in head on, switch directions and keep up is bananas. And as someone who's flown many drones that pilot is awesome!! Awesome video Dozen!
You're right, I thought it was a RC plane at first because I've never seen footage of a P-51 that close except grainy WW2 footage. Even if it's half the size of its parent it's still insanely impressive. I'd have guessed a stall speed higher than 40mph.
The SW-51 is really on my radar. I'm glad you are show casing it with this much detail. Please continue to make updates on its development, upgrades and improvements. Liked and Subbed!
A beautiful plane! The detail on it is incredible, every single rivet has been accounted for! So grateful to have met the Scale Wings guys and get to get hands on with the plane, fantastic people. Hope to see them again this year in Stead!
NWA is so beautiful! I was there in late October when GameFest was happening and was fortunate enough to see you fly with the gaggle of Gamebirds. That was some of the best air to air drone footage I have seen! Thanks for sharing.
I know it took years of hard work to do what you have done in your life, but I have to say.... What a life you have had! Yes, that is envy talking... Such an awesome video!
Maybe one of the best parts... at least for those of us on the far side of the camera, is that Trevor is likely to be doing something like this for a long time. I just subscribed to the channel so there'll be many hours of video to come! 👍
This is beyond excellent content. And I'm rapidly mind-spending all of the bonusses I haven't received yet. I work fly-in/fly-out in Western Australia, and trying to think if a couple scaled "drop tanks" will add enough capacity to get me to/from work ;). Let a man dream.
Absolutely love this . Arkansas is so beautiful! I live minutes from Crystal Lake. And I was turning and gliding like I was flying in there with you! Great Video!!!
You've lived & are still living my dream from 50+ years ago! Still tryin' too!! Congrats! Awesome "toy" & video! Enjoyed seeing the Aggie ring flashed around too!! Gig'em! Chris C., '75, Filthy Fifth
Absolutely amazing video with fabulous production value! Fellow pilot whose day job is a cinematographer (this is my personal account), and I’m just blown away the production quality of such an otherwise small channel. Now these air to air drone shots…just incredible! @NikoFilmz, just astounding both the flying skill and sick drone builds that can manage a climbing reverse direction rejoin onto a full-size GA aircraft. I’m blow away!
Phenomenal flying by both Mustang and drone chase pilots. The orbit shots going under and around the Mustang are mesmerizing! Thanks sharing this incredible collaboration!
Very cool airplane and awesome drone and video skills. Looks like a ton of fun but by the time I’m ready to drop half a million $$$ on an airplane like this I might look at some others as well. So your task is to show us all the cool planes we should consider!
Man those are amazing drone shots. I know the FAA is kind of all over the place on drone stuff these days, glad to see how much planning and safety went into this
O man I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed that! My brother was a pilot and over the years we bought a citabria decathlon, two place Pitts, Ryan PT22, Smith Mini Plane. My brother was killed in a non air related accident. His favorite plane was a P51. When he died a guy named Col Ed Messicks flew one in his funeral. The ground shook when it came over, nothing sounds like that. Can you tell me the cost, and operation cost? The 007 is the new ones I understand. Thank you for that!
SO, you base the plane in B'ville. My sister lives in Springdale and my nephew has a ranch on the north side of Huntsville. I'll let you know the next time I come back for a visit, and maybe we can tell some... "Sea stories" about flying. Fly safe............
What a spectacular video! P-51 always been my favorite & am seriously considering a smaller version within the next couple years. Two S-51 questions…Is there a dual-control option? Is there a larger prop option?
Glad you enjoyed it. There are dual controls. Check out my next video to see me flying it with a friend. The prop can be whatever you want. That said, if you put a rotax in it, it would be smart to keep the recommended prop. If you put a different engine in that has a larger crankshaft, then a larger prop might make more sense.
I really want to see someone build one of these with a V12 or at least a V8 with a higher displacement and a bouncy cam, just to make it sound and feel like the real thing! It looks so damn amazing! Its just missing the sound and vibrations!
Awesome awesome video.. Just one thing, and it is not criticism by any stretch of the imagination, I wish you would have let us hear that engine as well in that video. This is something you left me wanting more out of this amazing video. Beautiful
How close are the flight characteristics in comparison to the P-51? Note: The little button on top of a ball cap is referred to as a “Squatcho”. Awesome video!
Really would love one of these, just cost are so high these days, been trying to get a plane since I retired from the Army in 19 but the world went upside down. Guess I picked a horrible time to retire. =(

Do you fly aerial cinematography?!

You were the star of the show imo.
@NikoFilmz I’m so happy for you man. Been watching you from the start and it’s super cool to watch the grind and skill pay off. 👑

Yeah, that’s definitely bonkers! Also don’t forget that’s the drone transitioning from a decent climb rate on the join up too!
This drone footage is giving me chills. This is my dream plane, I am so happy it exists!
This video is so awesome, congrats to everyone involved - it deserves a lot more views! ✈️

INSANE drone work!
I assumed this had to be just RC Scale flying. . . AMAZING flying on all fronts. Congrats.
I’m an aeronautical engineer. I’m moving to Bentonville next week from Tulsa. I hope our paths will cross there. It’d be great to meet you.
FanTASTIC footage!
Your channel is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I live in NWA as well. LOVE the SW-51. Can’t wait to see more content with it!
Thank you so much! I’m excited to do some more flying with it!
One cannot CANNOT deny the mind blowing awesome insanity of this whole video. ALL included ... just everything !!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I saw one of these at the Reno air races, really a beautiful plane. I love that they even molded in the "rivets" into the carbon fiber
Amazing shots! Thank you very much for sharing! 👍👍👍

Awesome awesome video.. Just one thing, and it is not criticism by any stretch of the imagination, I wish you would have let us hear that engine as well in that video. This is something you left me wanting more out of this amazing video. Beautiful
It's a Rotax engine. Small displacement 4 cylinder.
what power plant is in the mustang...fantastic looking plane
How close are the flight characteristics in comparison to the P-51? Note: The little button on top of a ball cap is referred to as a “Squatcho”. Awesome video!
Keeps doing that and y'all will end up like Roy Halladay.
Always wondered how you pulled off the epic drone shots! Now we know! Haha long form videos are the way to go!
Glad you like them!
Gotta get me one of these...........
Any prop wash problems on the drone? Definitely doesn't seem like it. What engine is in the p51?
Man I’d love to fly
I’m watching this video, and asked my wife, is that the guy we met at The Bend the other day? She said, I think it is!
Former Dallas Cowboy Chad Jennings fit in an A 10 Thunderbolt 11. And he was a big guy.
Did your 6'-5" friend fit in the front seat??? I want one of these planes!
What engine do you have stuffed up front?
what engine does SW51 use? Can we fly from the back seat?
Really would love one of these, just cost are so high these days, been trying to get a plane since I retired from the Army in 19 but the world went upside down. Guess I picked a horrible time to retire. =(
A smaller p51 is amazing
Hey can anyone tell me what the idea is with the rather tiny propeller I mean the real P51 Propeller is like 14ft in Diameter the one on the SW51 is like maybe 3 ft ?
what drone are you using?
Fantastic episode!
How come the airplane is registered in Norway?
Norway has LN not LY registration :)
@@oesped oh, my mistake 😊 But why Lithuania then? 😃
@@flyingrobbin4968 mayby cause Scalewings is a German company. Mayby build in Lithuania?🤷🏼♂️

We really need a 3/4 scale Merlin to put in these mustangs.
How about a dogfight? My 60% FW-190 vs the SW-51. You have the advantage in aircraft and skills, but man i'm sure it would still be fun!
Can I talk to you about your experience? currently considering
How did you get your call sign dozen. Call sign origins are almost always funny.

I’m a little disappointed it doesn’t have the original v12 but other than that it’s pretty cool
Can anybody let me know the song used in the drone footage
Lucky strike - Zack sorgen
SW-51,... scaled down, fun to fly,... Can I has this, but F-111 ?
Looks like a fun toy. How big is the motor? How fast can it go?
