  • During the The Young and the Restless 50th anniversary party red carpet, a few of the OG stars chatted with Michael Fairman in this exclusive interview for the Michael Fairman Channel.
    Two of Y&R's original cast members, Janice Lynde (Leslie Brooks) and Jaime Lyn Bauer (Lorie Brooks) were joined by John McCook, who played their love interest on the show, Lance Prentiss.
    Janice and Jaime were with the show from its inception in 1973, and they were later joined by John who debuted in 1975. He later joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful where he has played Eric Forrester for 36 years.
    During the conversation, Janice and Jaime talk about the Brooks sisters storylines, the on-screen triangle between them, and the trio share how Y&R back then was a very musical soap, and each of them sang on the daytime drama series, while Lynde was also an accomplished pianist.
    Later, they pay tribute to the late Victoria Mallory, who replaced Janice in the role of Leslie, and recall inside stories of their time on the show and what led to their ultimate departures.
    Let us know what you thought of our interview with Janice, John and Jaime via the comment section below, and be on the lookout for more red carpet interviews in the days ahead from the Y&R 50th Anniversary Party.

    I feel like the first eight or so years of Y&R are being forgotten in the celebration, so this was a real treat.

      Exactly! The majority of the current audience thinks the show only centers around the Newmans and the Abbotts. When the Brooks and Fosters were on the show for the first 10 years.

      @@wvfirecracker1976 - Don’t forget, not everyone who is watching now watched back then. Also, there weren’t VCR’s to record when people were at work etc.
      I watched, but I don’t remember all of the past storylines.

      @@wvfirecracker1976 Yes, unfortunately many of those actors are gone. Still can't believe not at least a nod to Jerry Douglas. OMG

      @@mjj1434 When they brought back the old episodes during quarantine lockdown, people called them boring.
      Of course, I had a great time watching them myself. More for me.

      The Brookes sisters are actually related to the Abbotts! Y&R introduced a a male character a few years ago that connects these two powerful core families. I believe he was the illegitimate son of Dina Abbott and Stuart Brooks!

    Thank you for this, Michael. It’s very special for you to have captured this interview with these three legends-especially when so much of the media pretends that the show started with Victor and Nikki, who owe their longevity to the classic cast making the show a hit in the 1970s.

    This was a very shocking detail that Jaimie Lyn Bauer revealed! The Brooks family was written out largely due to her leaving the show! We may not have gotten an Abbott clan if Laurie didn’t leave Genoa City!

    • @marcelparker6755
      @marcelparker6755 Рік тому

      Not really that shocking. David Hasslehoff (Snapper) left around that time as well.
      Plus, the whole 4-some with her, Leslie, Lance, and Lucas ran it's course. She got Prentiss Industries back from Victor, Vanessa was dead and everyone knew who Brooks's real parents were. There was a good-to-fair chance that there were not many stories left to tell for the Brooks Family.
