😂🤣😂 ... Those Lights 😜 .... Have You Booked The Strippers Yet Rick?? 🤣😂🤣
It’s not really a podcast room, he’s moved to Amsterdam. ;)
😂😂
Needs a sparkly disco ball.
Rick on another spending spree
Wow. That's just one room. Amazing! I had a degree in Radio and TV Broadcasting years ago. You are bringing back memories! Hey, I learned how to "splice" tapes. Just sayin'.
Hat's off to you sir, you have so much talent/knowledge of stuff.
Geat series Rick. You are easy to watch what ever you are doing.
It looks stunning, great work! Never expected anything less though.
Do yourself a potentially life saving job though. Take one of each type of tile outside and set fire to them. Are they actually flame resistance? Many of these tiles are absolutely lethal in a fire, they will combust and spread in seconds and cause a huge inferno. Not only that, but the smoke these things release is highly toxic and will make someone unconscious after all little as 2 breaths.
A test outside will show you how quickly they will catch fire and the colour of the smoke will tell you how quickly it will kill you if the worst happens. The darker the smoke the more toxic it is.
Already done it. they're not brilliant if I'm honest, they didn't self extinguish but burned slow. Smell/smoke was surprisingly minimal.
@@rickvanman search for a video called "The station nightclub fire". It was sound treatment similar to what you're using that caught fire from the sparks created by a pyrotechnic. There were 100 fatalities in that fire, and they were all dead within 2 minutes. It's scary how quickly the fire totally engulfs the nightclub.
That’s what smoke alarms are for
@@Johnjoe321if you watched the video I referenced, you'd realise a smoke alarm would do very little to save you. Also, even if a smoke alarm saves your life, it won't save your property and possessions. Fires destroy lives in many ways, don't take unnecessary risks.
@@lufferov fortunately for Rick he has followers who are looking out for him and who work in the plastics industry. To find blocks with FR packages in them is rare and expensive and they would emit volatiles in that kind of enclosed space so the ends wouldn’t justify the means. Where our sector makes plastic FR is where there’s an absolute need like football stadia or building insulation. That fact that builders cut corners aka Grenfell is a different discussion.
I haven’t see what’s inside the block but it’s most likely PU based on the expansion post packaging. The FR rating of these reading Ricks comments is probably H2 which is one level up from HB (High Burn). The critical thing here is that there is no ignition source. Rick doesn’t smoke, has no lighting candles or naked flames in the room. The lighting all seems like it’s far away from the product. Even if it did ignite it’s a slow burn to start before it gets hold. So then it’s down to risk.
When fire in people’s houses does occur it’s not about self extinction it’s about escape and so a smoke alarm in the landing is all Rick needs.
I'm loving those colored lights Rick! That room is looking great so far. Actually your entire home is done beautifully. It's so tidy and clean. I'm an old subscriber and I remember when you were re-doing your kitchen ( I love your kitchen cabinets.) 👍 🙂 ps. If you ever do a future ufo show, maybe you can have the green lights in the background...bwahaha.. lol..👽 🛸
I love those ambient lights along the ceiling ❤Are they difficult to install with the electric source and adheresion?
Also I believe I’ve seen products for squeaky floors covered in carpet. You screw an fastener directly into the squeaky floor to firm up the problem. It is a screw that goes right through the carpet and then the head snaps off, I’m sure you can find UA-cam videos on the subject
Thanks for the squeaky floor tip. The lights were self-adhesive so pretty straightforward to put up. The biggest hurdle was keeping the tops of the foam straight and at the same height as the top of the grey tiles 😊👍❤️
Make a wooden picture frame around the tv and use it for relevant background art to the video or a fire screensaver on UA-cam.
Regarding topics, I would love to see: Rick's life story, history of your life: growing up, school, career, and later life goals/plans. How to craft episodes with your friend who felts in his ambulance, travel updates with your chef friend and his wife. And, perhaps in-depth podcasts the support your local 'travel' vlogs.
Rick could put his Britney wig on and interview himself.
Your podcast room is really coming together nicely. But I have to admit I had a bit of a chuckle. Although the LED lighting looks nice, it sort of reminded me of a club/disco. lol
😁👍
Hours to do an edit of a man with a camera ?
You're doing it wrong, or you are too obsessive :P
You want 2 settings, you have a big room, what about using the end wall as formal, then put your fireplace scene on the currently blank wall, if there's a way you can create a false wall that looks real, but had soundproofing built in, saves you moving furniture all the time
Incidentally, several TV studio's don't have sound proofing, specially sky News when they are in 'the glass box' studio, it's literally 3 walls of glass, it echoes if the sound engineer forgets to turn up the lapel mic and you geet the audio from another person or a studio mic :D
will the floor lights mount against the walls as an upolighter wall wash ?
I love having options in my studio. Half of my studio is actuality green screen for those other creative moments. Too bad you didn't do that for your last wall. I'm sure it's covered by now. But good job. I'm digging it. ❤
I have a strange feeling you are building a lap dancing club
😂😂
Wow, so creative & impressive. LOVE what you did w/ the ceiling! Oh & those lights at the top, very nice!!! Thanks for sharing.
Rick your intro/outro music makes me think of On the Buses 😂 loving these Videos!
Carry on Crafting
Looking great Rick! Loving this diy series. I know your a week behind but might be worth looking in marketplace for a second hand fireplace so your not disturbing your living room
Looks great. Getting Tardis vibes from walls... maybe build a console in middle of room 😊
Wow 🤩 super impressed by your vision and hard work. Must admit I did think in the beginning could you have used the smaller room for a studio and kept the existing craft room but it looks so good 😊
A sofa bed would work again the wall for guests staying over and look good in the room when not used as a bed if you don’t mind me suggesting 😊
Light your face first and then the background.
You'll probably want separation between your accent lights and your key light.
Teal and Orange is the classic combo.
Hard light with barn doors will look stark, you'll want a soft box with a honeycomb on it.
Bigger source means smoother light.
Great tips, thanks. Honeycomb diffuser arrived today 😁👍
@@rickvanman irony I found your channel looking for filmmaking tips in 2011
Blink and you will miss Rick turning his house inside out🤯.
👏👌🧘♂️🎙️
Hello Rick. Now you have an acousticly prepared room why not set up a TV somewhere for both the podcast backgrounds and a home cinema for when you want to watch movies. That way, the room will have more use in your daily life.
I like your thinking, thanks for the suggestion 😊👍
PS. That type of acoustically dead space would make for an awesome hifi room. :)
Looking good. My dog would love to chew that foam.
Don't forget to water the sansevierias this time.
I have that exact same pull / chin up bar, the wide pull ups are very difficult took me ages to be able to do those properly...
No amount of lighting/good setup with make up for poor content. Looks ok by the way, I'm more of a little is more type of guy.
Love it! 😍 such a fantastic room. Looks a really good quality finish 😀
The Power Tower in the conservatory, in the summer will be fun! 🥵
Looking good! I can't wait to see if finished. I've been watching your channel for about 10 years and lately my wife has started. Every day she asks me, is there a Rick today? I think you have a new fan ha! You mentioned Spain, any more thoughts about moving?
That's lovely to hear :) Spain still in the distant possibility column 👍
Great video again Rick, just a suggestion why don’t you say what the date is in every video so that we have a rough idea how far behind you are
All looking good mate. Echo is gone in the corner.
Hi Rick, how about a curtain to cover the alcove where your door is? 🤔😊
Perhaps a painted blue/green screen on the final wall??
I love the idea of a mix-and-match setting, depending on your needs!
Love it, and love the speed. Some people mull over things and it takes weeks and months to develop, but you're on fire. My only suggestion at this point is removing the dots on the ceiling tracer light. Personally I think seeing the colour but not the lights is the better outcome. Could you top those tiles with some trunking, and sit the light strip in that so that the light hits the wall and just the light, what do you think?
Thanks for the feedback. The lights are actually hidden in a recess , the dots you see are the reflections on the wall 😁👍
Have you noticed if the panels have reduced outside/neighbour noise? Interested for reducing noise from others lol
It hasn't made much difference to any outside sounds, but it has significantly reduced reverb :)
Hi Rick, I am finding the fireplace and the waving kitty too distracting... perhaps tone down or reduce the flicker on the fire? In all truth, I find the colored lights distracting too. All this makes my eyes wander and I lose focus on what you may be saying. If you consider all really good talk shows, there is not much to distract in the background from the conversation or the person talking. I like the plants though! Have you considered placing the camera at eye level so that we seem to be sitting across from you instead of 'above' you looking down? (Sorry if others already suggested!) ...anyway, you are a clever man! You can use this set up for your other relaxation channel and use all your purchases as tax right offs, no?
Thanks for the great feedback, it’s all good 😊👍 yes to the tax write offs 😁👍
@@rickvanman...good heavens....I didn't expect you to reply...! Isn't it something like 2am in the UK now??? lol
Get some velcro and some chess pieces and you could play upside down chess on your ceiling. 😊
😂😂 love that idea
Looks Great, congrats 👍
I WISH I could do a room like that. Years ago we had karaoke on Twitch (it was sadly discontinued) and I loved singing so much, until the neighbours started complaining, they had to raise volume on their TV when I was singing, the sound went through the ceiling and 3 rooms on the upper floor. But on the bright side: I had a great time and learned about what I CAN do, even though it had to end.
We all are looking forward what you will do in that room!
Well I don’t know where my comment went it didn’t post. Anyway what I said was IMPRESSIVE WORK ! I love it. Your chats have already started, l just finished some exhausting housework, sat down for a coffee and up popped your video, perfect, a nice relaxing half hour. More please xx
Is the " Love Swing " a permanent fixture ?
😂
Many UA-cam videos have a great picture but dreadful sound , anything to improve that situation is to be welcomed, but to be honest I’ve always found the audio on your videos to be good but this studio can only make things better..Now we need something to cut the awful outdoor wind interference on many people’s vids .
Inspirational to see you take on a project and see it through, Rick. The only thing I think is missing is a green screen, but maybe you can put up a temporary one up if needs be.
Looks great Rick. Can’t wait to see the final result!! 👏
I’ve been thinking since the start out the power tower in the conservatory! Good choice
Great minds and all that 😊👍
❤ nothing more alluring then a hard working fellow Just great work😊
😊👍❤️
