What an amazing review! I bought the AX55 but after I saw this review, I cancelled the order and got the AX58U. It's mainly the USB speed that sealed the deal for me.
If you are doing a lot of online gaming or streaming on several devices at once in your household then ASUS is the way to go but otherwise TP Link is more than enough especially for the average user.
Like someone below mentioned The Asus is on V2 it is now quad core 1.7ghz. there is no mention of V2 on amazon website but the box is different . The Tuf gaming model uses the same chip but offers Lan aggregation. The Amazon website list made in China but the V2 box says made in Tiawan
Trying both routes and some higher models just to select the best Parental Control,, Asus is Free and quick, TP-LINK should have more features but its costly and a little slow in login, the winner will be announced soon... one other thing the dual wan feature in Asus is awesome 👌
Excellent review and comparison video my friend!! Your comprehensive run through is precisely what I needed to inform my purchase decision. I'm going with the Asus. I'm looking forward to it meshing with my existing Asus Wifi router.
Edit: If you are looking at the difference between the AX50 and AX55 as they are 98% the same device, go with the AX55 as TP-Link had promised features on the AX50 that instead of releasing via firmware update to the AX50....they pushed to the AX55 newer model and left the AX50 now dead in development. No new firmware in years. AX55 will allow SmartMesh mesh networking at home so that you can extend your wifi range across more devices. AX50 does not support this in the firmware. Software limited, hardware is fully capable. Screw TP-Link. I have the TP-Link Archer AX3000 (AX50...not the AX55 shown in this video). There are many issues with TP-Link. I have purchased their AX11000 and still hot garbage. Too many issues with TP-Link removing features from the firmware. Too little device control. Asus is better in every way. I returned the TP Link AX11000 (far and away a waste of money even comparing it to the AX50) and replaced it with the Asus RT-AX92U wifi6 mesh system. Far happier choice. Stay away from TP-Link unless you can't afford better. They temp you with marketing but their actual hardware is sub-par at best....has weird things it does where you cannot turn off the anti-virus, and cannot control QoS in the firmware resulting in loss of performance. ASUS over TP-Link every time for me now.
Me too. Bought ax 3000 tp-link model then returned it and bought asus ax55 router. Now want asus ax11000, or asus axe11000. But they are very expensive. And changing routers just because it is cooler to have a more expensive one is stupid. Asus is less laggy but has less wifi coverage. So they kinda the same shit. I am not happy with asus too.
Hi, I would like to know which one is more reliable and durable, because I have seen many negative comments on Amazon (about both), saying that they die in a few months, that they fail in less than 1 year, that they have connection losses Hangs-up and requires frequent reboots, etc.
Thank you for your videos. I gain valuable insight and information. I especially liked "Is it possible to connect a USB Hub to a router's USB port?" My first router was a TP-Link router. I never had any issues from that router. I never had to do a power-cycle on it. It ran continuously for three years with no issues until a thunder storm was passing through the area where I lived and lighting struck outside my house and sent over voltage into my router and fried it. My TP-Link router saved my computer because the lightning burned out my Ethernet port and the voltage could not continue to my computer. The Asus has better functions and performance, but reliability is very important to me. Is Asus build quality dependable in 2023? I built two computers in 2012 using Asus motherboards and I am still using them in 2023. Asus quality was good ten years ago. Items are cheaply built today often times using sub-par parts to cut corners and save money to increase company profits at the expense of the consumer selling them inferior products. Going solely on the routers spec, I would have to choose the Asus router, but I would spend a great deal of time researching the product. P.S. When the lightning strike the current ran through the internet connection through the ethernet connection. It even burst the gas line running to the house. 🙂
What happened to you is why having an UPS is paramount, especially one that can provide pure sine wave power like the mains. I have all my valuable tech connected to pure sine wave UPS including my tp-link wireless router. My 3 active UPS saved my computer/external hard drive bays/lg oled 4K tv/wireless router/cable modem from power outs and brown outs many times.
I just setup my new Asus AX57 with the help of your video and all is working great but now i want to use it as an access point because I it connected to my FIZZ modem/router and i have a dlink connected via cable directly also used as an access point with only the FIZZ assigning the DHCP, but for the installation of the AX57 Idisconnected the DLINK router for the installation but now that AX57 is connected can i disconnect the cable and use it wirelessly in another room as an extension to my access point
