    Polestar have priced their cheapest long range 2 just inside our subsidy limit in NZ while the IONIQ 5 equivalent is $10,000 more expensive. So the Polestar ends up being $18,000 cheaper. No brainer if you're choosing a non-Tesla.

      The Long Range is $86,000 now because they don't offer it without Pilot. Whoever made that decision at Polestar NZ is an absolute potato. To be fair Pilot should be in the price, and not another $6k. The only useful thing anyone will ever really use is adaptive cruise, blind-spot monitoring and the parking cameras.

    I’m taking delivery of my Polestar 2 SR next week. Super pumped for it. I ordered the basic one. No option packages; not worth the money to me. The Tesla Model 3 SR was also very high up my wish list, but is nearly €6.000 more expensive in the Netherlands. My current car is a 2017 mk7.5 VW eGolf. The short range of this car really never bothered me. I drive roughly 40.000 km a year, and that with a 36 kWh battery. Always could manage my trips quite well! It’s just mindset.

    • @johanhalvarsson2148
      @johanhalvarsson2148 2 роки тому +2

      No tow hook? Since tesla got rid of that option on the model 3 making it a model y only option I'm holding the polestar higher up, mostly since I have kids so I won't need the supercharger network.

    • @GaragePlant
      @GaragePlant 2 роки тому +4

      Fully agree with you about the option packages! I drive the SR since two weeks and it's fantastic. Range is indeed not an issue if you plan ahead. And in the worst case scenario you have to use a rapid charger for 20 minutes while watching videos on the center console 😁

    • @FretFreak02
      @FretFreak02 2 роки тому +2

      Great to hear! I am very curious about the car. And like you say, using a rapid charger every once in a while is no issue at all. Also, I can charge at home on my driveway and at my offices. 95% of the time I don’t even charge anywhere else.

    • @GaragePlant
      @GaragePlant 2 роки тому +2

      @@johanhalvarsson2148For me the tow hook was essential as well when selecting an EV. Not many EV's out there that allow a tow hook and a decent towing weight. In a few months I'll have it installed on my PS2.

      It’s pretty decent that the P2 can tow 1.500 kg. My wife drives a 2016 Golf GTE, which we equipped with a tow hook. So it wasn’t necessary for us to also equip the P2 with one.

    So yes an Ev-user(?) i can agree that the projected range is often waaay to optimistic. Also the dip in range between summer & winter is huuuuuge. But you do read between the lines. So now I divide the estimated range by 1.5 in summer & 2 in winter. Once I adopted that mindset, it’s ok but many new adopters will feel a bit cheated? The estimated range needs to be standardized/realisticlized? Because it’s offsetting.

    Thanks for an interesting video. I have been thinking of Polestar 2 as an option. Here in Finland where I am from we drive from Pirkanmaa (south) to Rovaniemi a few times a year which is around 800km trip and including all the breaks the driver and others need plus the fact that you will be driving 90km/h behind the lorries a lot I will not drive even 800km under 12 hours by petrol car in practice. This means that from that point of view the question between petrol and electric cars (and their batteries as long as they are 60+ kwh based on this video) is rather pointless from the practical point of view for me unless one considers keeping the car for quite a time and want to make sure there is still range left when you finally sell the car. But this is another story. This video pointed out that 60+ batteries will do besides the more expensive options. Thank you for your videos. Will keep watching!

      Lett Polestar. Kjørt P2 i en uke, himmel og havs forskjell. Polestar er mer gjennomført, XPENG er en ikke så billig Tesla kopi. XPENG er stygg, Polestar snur jeg meg etter hver gang til tross for at jeg til daglig kjører Model S 2019. Til slutt: Mulighet for varmepumpe på Polestar, bedre interface.

    I would prefer the EV6 rear wheel model with 74kWh batterie, instead of the PS2. Better charging speed, more range and V2load for the same money.
    11h15min ?! No. Not every driver has this Ninja charging stop with 1% or 2% SOC. You should add minimum 30minutes for normal holiday drivers.

    Oof 264 Wh/km aka 425 Wh/mile? Why’s the efficiency *so* low? Even just the basic standard range gets way lower efficiency and range than it claims. I know most EV’s are a bit under their advertised range but this seems unusually low. I like the car but they have to either improve their battery size, or fix their advertised range/efficiency if its real world specs are this far off the advertised ones.

      @@sowiwo2019 It's a sister car to the XC40, designed by Volvo. It was built to be a hybrid car. Contrary to what's reported in the media, it wasn't built to go head to head with pure EVs like the Model 3. It actually was used to give Polestar an affordable car since Volvo didn't use the body as an S40.
      But the Precept will be aeordynamic as are the Polestar 3 and such. Those interested in Polestar just have to wait for them to come out. Those will be pure EVs. Late next year is when they are said to come out.

    I watched a lot of different EV videos and every time I think that tesla user interface is more developed in comparison. In Canada AWD Polestar 2 (no addons) vs LR Model 3 (no addons) is almost same price. Polestar 2 is a pretty car though, I have seen it in person, but never driven.

      For my area in Canada (the prairies in the mid/north area) the polestar just doesn't have the range and the charger support just doesn't cut it. It's tough enough in my long range model 3. Other then that the polestar seems like a nice car though. I could see people in Toronto/Quebec/Vancouver and what not doing just fine with their more developed charging network though
