    I was excited to plug in my Xreal Ar 2 Pro glasses and see a 3D effect on your link…but all that they came up with was just the dual picture images. So I just used that trick with my eyes and through the glasses, to allow a third image to appear between the two, in effect blending the two together in order to see the 3D effect. The result? Meh.
    The reason why from what I have learned from watching other videos about the new Beam unit is due to how close the dual cameras are placed together…from what I heard, the subject in the photo needs to be about a meter from the camera in order for the 3D effect to have its most impact. I know I missed something in how I used my glasses, but at least I was able to gain some understanding around how the 3D effect can be realized with the Beam’s new camera array. Thank you for taking the time to put all of this together along with the link and the photos!

    You mentioned that it can output to other types of displays, but I'm wondering if it can output to a touch screen display and have that functionality work correctly like other phones that support video out do.
    Also, what's the battery life like, both with normal use and in spatial mode, and can you turn the screen off when connected to the glasses to save battery?

    Hi Erik, thanks for the review and also the sample 3d photos and videos. I'm extremely interested in this as a 3d camera (been shooting 3d on slide and then digital since 1995). Can you give more details on the 3d camera/video app? Presumably you can choose the focus point? What other adjustments if any are there, such as exposure, zoom etc. Thanks again, Phil

    • @ErikHartley
      @ErikHartley  20 днів тому +1

      The 3D camera app has exposure controls and the ability to select the focus point. You can turn grid lines on or off and there is a timer option. There is no ability to zoom when in spatial camera modes.
      My photos were really just quick point and shoot with no adjustment.

    • @tanj3d
      @tanj3d 20 днів тому

      @@ErikHartleythe lack of zoom is disappointing but probably needed as adjusting zoom and focus point would force a change in the 'stereo window' and lead to items virtually poking you in the eye that shouldn't!!! Once again thanks for the info.

    I have a few questions:
    1. What's the battery life like, both in normal use and spatial mode?
    2. Can you turn off the screen while in spatial mode to save battery?
    3. Can you connect it to a touch screen display and have that work like it does with most phones that support video output?
    Thanks

    • @ErikHartley
      @ErikHartley  20 днів тому +1

      @meh2285 I don't have specific battery life details as I haven't done any power drain tests on if. Yes you can press the power/hold button to turn off the screen while in Nebula OS. You will still see have picture and audio on the second glasses display but the Beam Pro display will turn off. You should be able to connect most any other display including USB-C monitors, other glasses, etc. I don't know which specific functionality you are referring to with a touch screen and have no way to test that.

    • @ErikHartley

      Yes but you need to set the interface in VLC to phone (not Android TV) and then go to settings -> Video and enable Prefer Clone.

    • @ErikHartley
      @ErikHartley  21 день тому

      The Beam Pro dies not currently support a wired connection to the device like the original Beam did on the left hand charging USB-C port and the folks at XREAL have indicated that the hardware is not designed to support that type of connection.

    You're the only sponsored creator I trust to tell the truth about Xreal product and not just say that Xreal products are better than winning 100 million dollars and then never mention anything about it again until a new payment is incoming. Thanks for pointing out the UA-cam TV issue. That's disappointing to hear because they was the first thing I was gonna install. You're the only person that points out the negatives. I thought Xreal would cut you out. Lol.

    This beam 2 looks promising but... There is a but. There are many but in fact. 1st, I don't think Beam 2 is needed if we own the original Beam. Morever, the original Beam have a video input which allows you to plug a game console or a computer.
    2nd, the problem with Xreal Air, and all other AR glasses, is the low resolution of 1920x1080 per eye. It is enought for basic usages as watching a video or playing a game, but that's all. Power usages like having a virtual monitor for your laptop, for example, is a joke with Xreal Air (whatever the model is). The Fov is too small and the eye-resolution too low to display properly a clean and sharp high-res monitor, you are stuck to low resolutions you already have in front of you if the computer you use is a laptop (My Macbook Pro 14" for example can display a crisp and sharp 1800x1169 resolution on its 14" screen, but with Xreal Air + Beam everything is blurry over 1440x900 pixels. Even the main 1920x1080 resolution it's not great and this resolution is almost the same as the 1800x1169 I already have on my laptop. So what's to point to invest 400-600$ to have the same thing you already have, but blurry and shaked ?
    What would be great is to display a virtual 40" monitor at 3840x2160 ... a powerhouse for working anywhere, but Xreal glasses are totally unable to display that.
    So, Beam 2 looks promising, but the real problem is the Xreal Glasses specs, and I don't see anything better coming. That's a shame.
