SOUTZOUKAKIA | Greek Meatballs | Collaboration

Soutzoukakia or İzmir köfte, is a Greek and Turkish dish of spicy oblong meatballs with cumin and garlic served in tomato sauce. This dish was brought to Greece by refugees from Asia Minor. Join me as we discover the taste of this scrumptious Greek dish.
Ingredients
250 g ground beef
250 g ground pork
200 g sandwich bread
100 ml whole milk
4 tablespoons olive oil
2 clove(s) of garlic
1 fresh egg
1 teaspoon chili flakes
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) cumin
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tsp mint (dried)
100 g all-purpose flour, for dredging
cooking oil, for frying
For the sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, medium
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 bay leaves
1 cup water
400 grams fresh tomatoes
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 stick cinnamon
