    Okay you explained very well thank you very much for that. But the formulae, how do they work? Can you (or someone) please explain?
    What I can guess is that in each microlitre of blood there is one decilitre of rbc (meaning 1 dl volume of rbc is formed by 5 million cells) for the calculation of mch.

    I'm a lay person, but got my labs back recently and wanted a deeper analysis than, "Normal," especially since MCV was borderline high. I liked to see these values all explained as a grouping. That provides important context. Thanks. One small nit though: "mean" is not the same as "average." 🙂

    Thank you for the analogy I finally can understand the difference.
    I am wondering, would we be saying the "weight" of Hb or the "mass" of Hb?

      Good question...There is no difference...I prefer Hb mass...and by the way, clinically speaking, amount = mass= weight...In physics there is a difference, but not in medicine.

    i studied that MCH is the weight of hb in an RBC (total) and mchc the conc. of hb in each individual Rbcs . why i feel there's a confusion

    Thanks a lot. PCV or Hct is not only the percentage of RBCs. It also contains the Leukocytes.
    So PCV or Hct shows the percentage of all blood cells combined.

      You are right......
      But the volume ratio of platelets or leuckocytes is negligible compared to RBCs like almost 1:200 due to sheer number difference between them.
      So we clinically consider it as RBC volume only.

    Hii… i have a Q . As MCHC is average Hb in a unit volume of rbcs irrespective of the number of rbcs in given volume ,, then in ur last analogy , shouldn’t it be that mchc is average density of air per unit volume of water? If not, plz explain it to me,, its making me a bit confused. 😊

    A male patient came to the pharmacy with an lab paper and found that the volume of hemoglobin is 8 g/dL and MCV 85 and found that MCH 30 and MCHC 25 only,What type of anemia that he suffering from? ( knowing that the PCV is at a moderate level and he is 60 years old)

    RBC count x 3= Hb, Hb x 3 = Hematocrit, +/- 3 ( rule of three) u can add this to ur next video, time to pay back we are learning so much from u daily. UA-cam might have blacklisted my ip thinnking i am a robot as i am constantly roaming around on your channel :D
