The Mamina/Rotreamon arc and the Dominura/Rimone arc are the two most emotionally powerful subplots in the series. And both primarily take place on the Messis. For that reason, I consider the Messis episodes to be the high point of Simoun. The series only really starts getting good at episode 4 and it peaks either at the death of Mamina.
