    It feels like a vicious cycle: Players on the Heat improved as individual defenders, making it hard to punish the early help, causing the Celtics to lose confidence in the skip and swinging passes, which takes the pressure of individual defenders on the Heat to close out hard and then recover.

      They play defense as a team not individually you can see they throw bodies at you, they communicate, read and help each other. When one defender pass by, the next man will quick to follow and that defender who get pass will quickly go to the other player and their switches is on point. Iso/hero ball won't work against the Heat you need to move the ball coz they are quick to help each other. Spo as a former video coordinator always watch videos and tape for sure on how players move their offense esp their stars.

    It’s crazy how fast things can turn. A little over a week ago Tatum was the best thing since sliced bread after dropping 51 on the Sixers. Now, Tatum, Brown, and coach Mazulla look totally discombobulated. To the point people are even saying Tatum is no longer a true #1 option.
    They have been so thoroughly annihilated that the front office may even overhaul half the roster. I don’t think anyone could have foreseen this series playing out like this. Miami has really exposed the flaws within this Celtics team.

    Things looked shaky for Boston since the start of the playoffs, dropping 2 games to ATL in the first round on some really weak defense, then dueling it out with Philly in 7 games, but as much fight as they put in, I could see signs of fatigue and mental lapses, which is why they had to turn to Tatum to have a career game in their final matchup. But watching the post game interviews after they dropped game 1 to the Heat was very telling - they treated it like a regular season game, not a loser-go-home playoff series. Game 2 was even worse, with tempers flaring and what looked to be an exhausted Tatum smiling weakly when asked if the team had the combined mental fortitude to win 4 out of the next 5 games to get to the Finals. You had your answer right there written all over his face - not convincing anyone from the Boston media that they had the push and the fight to make it to the last round. They look sluggish, their communication on the court is non-existent, the attitude on the bench is flat, and they are being out-coached by a man who knows what it takes to win in Eric Spoelstra. Honestly I can imagine this series panning out with the same results if Brown, Smart and Tatum were playing out of their minds, because his coaching staff are so good at making in-game adjustments on the fly. That translates to confidence on the roster, and their role players are chipping in at both ends to keep Jimmy's legs fresh.
    As a Canadian fan, I'm excited for a Finals duel between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat - you have the robbed three-peat MVP Jokic and Canadian baller Jamal Murray, versus fan-favorite Jimmy Butler and former Raptors All-Star Kyle Lowry, so it's a win-win scenario for me as a viewer. Should be entertaining basketball to watch in any regard.

    I hear a lot of people saying “oh this same Celtics team beat this same Heat team last year” as if that should mean something. It went to 7 games and the Heat were a desperation Butler shit away from winning. It was a tough/competitive series and the team were basically evenly matched (even though I think I remember Jimmy being injured last playoffs).
    My point is that this Celtics team was never leaps and bounds better than this Heat just because they played better in the last few minutes of a game 7. On top of that the Celtics are worse coached than they were last year and a lot of Heat players have improved since last year.
    And as if that wasn’t enough, just for extra context. over the last few years this Heat team has beat the Celtics in the playoffs multiple times (the Bucks too). Going into this series I’m pretty sure the Heat had an overall winning record against this Celtics team in the playoffs.
    So, is what the Heat are doing surprising given they were the 8th seed? Absolutely. But we gotta stop talking like this Celtics team has EVER been leaps and bounds better than this Heat team.

I had a lot of the same observations watching this series; too much iso ball and poor shot selection, especially during cold streaks, commiting to expecting a call rather than playing for the bucket, and poor PnR defense. I think entitlement is a big problem with the Cs right now, even as a fan. They expect to roll over the Hawks and go to 7, they expect to roll over the sixers and go to 7, and they forsake the heat because they won the series last year, forgetting that it came down to Jimmy missing a shot in game 7. 5:50 is freaking magical. i wish all of the ppl who are blaming solely jaylen brown and joe mazzulla would watch these turnovers from tatum. just inexcusable stuff. his playmaking has always been overrated (especially after g1 of the finals last year) and it's a huge part of why boston hasn't won anything. neither tatum nor brown are good enough decision or play makers to be as ball-dominant as they are

    • @s_ame1135
      @s_ame1135 Рік тому +3

      @@dm1964 Yup. Each team only has a max of 3 assistant coaches allowed. Plus the 30 head coaches, that's only 120 coaches in the league at any given time.
      Considering the experiences, field of study requirements, as well as the number of staple coaches like Spo's and Pop's team that will only leave when they retire of old age, the odds of making it as a coach in the NBA is much slimmer than making it as a player instead.

    Exactly. Marcus Smart should just go. I don't know why Boston is so in love with his play. He's just great when they are up and ahead, but when it's crunch time he always, again ALWAYS makes foolish plays. It had always been this way for 9 YEARS, no improvements at all, and the Celtics just stuck with it. I mean for a good organization it doesn't make any sense at all.
