As a Singaporean, I’m always surprised and amused when Japanese people compliment Singapore as a country cleaner than theirs. Despite having more trash cans in public spaces in Singapore, it’s still common to see litter around where I stay and school in the northern side. Japan however does not have as many trash cans in public areas but is still cleaner in my perspective, I guess it could be mainly due to differences in culture and social norms such as the Japanese upbringing to hold onto their trash no matter how small it is in their pockets until they could find a trash can to discard it
Wow! Absolutely true. I was at Ueno Park and I saw an old lady at least 70+ and she was having a snack. After she finished, she neatly folded the wrapper and kept it in her bag! Absolutely no littering👍
@@mokhtaramin2011 Agreed. I always wished Singapore has a similar culture or societal norm but then again Singapore is a multi-racial, multi-religious and multi-cultural country and its population made of people from all walks of life, it may be difficult to get everyone to practice the same when everyone are influenced by the culture of their race, religion, country of origin or upbringing
@@martinlee7875 I think all Asian cultures and religions teach cleanliness. Its the people who lack culture and are not religious who may tend to lack civil and social consciousness.

I am a westerner living in Singapore for last 3 years and followed your channel for some time. You have inspired me to finally visit Japan (always wanted to) and now I just booked my first trip there (as it was so overdue anyway) as you gave me confidence now - appreciate the coverage and insights you have given. You're reconnecting countries and people with your videos. Thank you!
@Flare Seems like you don’t know anything about Japan. Singapore is a multiracial country. Japan is a more racist place. And you have to work extra hours in Japan if not you’ll be fired. LMAO
@Flare if you working with a Japanese in sg then you know the high standards they placed in work even if they are in sg. Generally, I would avoid working in firms with japanese management in place.
Great format and editing, love the interviews, it's hilarious how we think Japan is cleaner and they think Singapore is lol! Japan is on my travel list once it's open definitely.
Great video! Japanese people are so much more approachable and fun than Singaporeans when it comes to public interviews! I can feel the positive energy from the video interviews in Japan.
i disagree, Singaporeans are very approachable too😂😂especially if you go further from the city and actually interact with people in the neighbourhood areas like Bedok or Tampines, the community spirit in these areas are very strong and friendlier than if you just go to Sentosa, CBD or specific tourist spots lol
Thank you so much for the great video! Used to work in Japan many years ago… missing the 100 Yen shop (is there such a shop anymore?) and the Okonomiyaki in Japan is the food I like the most! 👍👍
Would you consider yourself an envoy for Singapore or Japan? I think it’s both 🤓 it’s so surreal to witnessed a Japanese making a survey on the Japanese on what they think of Singapore from a Japanese living in Singapore 🤣🥰😘 Keep up your production….now that covid19 is kind of passé but, not yet! I’ve not got the time to catch your UA-cam 😚
oh wow i love seeing osaka again! luckily went for a trip before everything happened, i miss japan and the food and everything else so much! would love to travel there again, thank you for this! 👏🏼👏🏼
Can’t wait to visit Japan. I’ve never been on my own holiday before so I booked a ticket to Japan. Unfortunately I booked it on April 2020. So I had to cancel it. Been having a bad case of wanderlust ever since. If/When they open to tourists, I’m definitely going. The sudden influx and huge groups of tourists will be a turn off though, even though I’ll be part of that problem. But after going through something like the pandemic, I just feel like I need to quickly see the world before anything like it happens again. Although it is disheartening to hear a portion of the Japanese population are not looking forward to their borders opening since they like the reduced crowds. I would love to see and explore Japan but just feels uneasy if the hosts are lowkey not wanting to welcome you. But at the same time, I understand too, tourists are one of the most annoying groups of people
@@klio9410 I got into this programme called the jet programme (idk if you’ve heard of it)!! There are 2 positions you can apply for, ALT (teaching English), and CIR (where you usually, but not always, get placed in a local government and do stuff like translation, interpretation and/or international relation activities, but you have to have at least JLPT N2 equivalent of Japanese for that. You don’t actually have to have the qualification, as long as you can prove it to them during the interview).
I think the top favorite destinations for Japanese will be like Hawaii, European countries and US. For business people, there will be more familiar with where singapore is located. @9:58 I recognise that ManHill restaurant.... its situated at Pasir Panjang in Singapore, and u are right, their paper chicken really makes u drool....
Singaporeans know takosen because they watched ur prev video on it 😂 (that’s me). I have the image that Japanese don’t really travel overseas till they r older (unless it was a high school trip). Many of my Japanese frens whom I met in singapore during uni days told me it was their first time in singapore and some even had their passports for the first time.
I mean, of course the fellow would say he prefer Malaysia over Singapore. Why would someone go all the way far down to SE Asia from Japan to Singapore when you can get the same Chinese culture and food from nearby China just next to Japan lol
Come to Singapore for what when you can't finish touring Tokyo enuff and when Singapore got no fun & nothing amazing to provide. Quality fun & shopping is right there in Tokyo 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
Have you considered collaborating with That Japanese Man Yuta during your time in Japan currently? Would be interesting to see a discussion/sharing video from both of you! 😄
Japan is definitely cleaner. People litters everywhere in Singapore especially the housing estates. Cigarette butts are everywhere from pavements, roads n grass patches..
I think the longer you stay in a place, the higher the chance you have of seeing the rare instance of trash one day. Which explains why the other thinks one is cleaner.
Japanese think Singapore is expensive and Singaporeans think Japan is expensive.. lol i guess its the same, i visited back in 2009 back then for 10 days, i spent like S$750 for the NWA airline 2 way ticket to Tokyo bought from a travel fair, and paid $550 for the 7 day JR Pass, i was thinking wow i spent over S$1200 before i even left Singapore. and its not even counting hotel. back then the exchange rate for Yen to SGD was much higher. 1 SGD to 65 Yen i believe back in 2009, now its 92 Yen. My Trip cost me over S$3k which actually if you consider its a 10 days trip it wasnt much, if we didnt spend on the JR Pass, we saved a lot by sharing rooms in budget hotels, so average night was ard S$60 per person. i would want to go back to Japan again some day. i used to think that i will have problems if i cant speak Japanese, but i realized its not as bad, in major cities, we stayed in Ikebukuro upon arriving There are a lot of English in the signboards and the JR station staffs are very helpful and do attempt to converse with you in English as well as they can.
