James Burton (Elvis's lead guitarist) had quoted "that the day before Elvis's funeral that James Brown had spent hours next to the casket and wouldn't leave until they pulled him out to get things ready for the next day."

Mary Jenkins was Elvis' cook. Elvis bought her a house as a gift. Elvis gave many people a nickname in an affectionate way. He called Mary MayWee. Once Elvis was in the hospital on a diet but really was craving hotdogs. He called Mary to make some and sneak them into the hospital. She did it. She said Elvis opened up the hotdogs and looked up and smiled at her and said "we sure can get by em MayWee can't we?

He had a God given talent and he always incorporated gospel music into everything including his concerts to show his love for God. At one of his conserts 2 girls were holding up a sigh calling Elvis the king and he stopped the concert and told them " no there is only one king and that's Jesus Christ".

The lady you said " looks familiar " was Myrna Smith, one of the Sweet Inspirations. The interview when she mentioned the magazine story was conducted a good few years after her piece about the " Astrodome incident ". She was in the early stages of a muscular disorder, that may have contributed to her contracting pneumonia in March 2010, from which she never fully recovered .... sadly, after suffering kidney problems and a stroke, she passed away on Christmas Eve, 2010, aged only 69 ....

She also had a neurological disorder, not drug addiction. Mary, the cook, made Elvis famous sandwiches and Elvis bought a home for her.

I am always excited & look forward to seeing your Elvis reactions. You are an adorable couple with a beautiful family! First class with beautiful souls! Wish there were more people in the world like you both. I'm gonna request Elvis Presley... King of Kindness. Elvis was very generous and very humble. Alot was not recognized. There's so many documentaries of his generosity but there really long. This one doesnt come close to all hes done, but it gives u an idea. Thank you! God Bless ⚡👑🎶🌹

I think two underrated events of Elvis that should have received more exposure back then are that lThe 1956 and 1957 WDIA Goodwill Revue where Rufus Thomas introduced him. and where he thanked BB King "thanks man for all of those early lessons you gave me." (Tri-State Defender Dec 1956) Could be reasons why Rufus Thomas and BB King were protective of him. The other one should have been Louie Robinson's interview with Elvis " The truth about that Elvis Presley rumor." (Jet Magazine August 01, 1957) which should have been on the cover al9ng with Ernest Withers's photos from the WDIA Goodwill. The most popular entertainer during that time giving his recognition.

Also, there's a photo of Elvis with one of Rufus's young daughters. She told him he was her boyfriend.

*Frank Sinatra and Elvis singing each other’s song.
    * Elvis and his daughter Lisa Marie singing together (Where No On Stands Alone), (Don’t Cry Daddy), (In The Ghetto) Her daddy would be so proud of her! JD Sumner, a gospel singer with the Stamps Quartet who sang with Elvis and knew him for decades, said that Elvis made over 4 billion dollars in his short career and gave over half of it away (and by the way, never took a tax deduction). He frequently gave cars away, and houses and other generous gifts. He did truly have a love for everyone and didn’t see race, although I think he did somewhat in that he had a heart for blacks having grown up in a poor community in Tupelo that was mostly black and having had a heart for injustice and having been a first hand witness to the prejudice and discrimination that was so sadly prevalent towards blacks in America. He never forgot what it was like to be from the other side of the train tracks, poor and deemed inadequate, and had a heart for anyone in need. Really enjoying your reactions. You guys are a blessing. Thank you and please keep them coming.

Great analysis! This article (and the video clips included with it will give you insight on how Elvis felt about the black community: Elvis Presley and the Black Community: Dispelling the Myths. An Elvis quote from the article: "The Lord only messed up on me in two ways...He didn't make me black and He didn't give me a bass voice".

The rumor she was talking about started this way.A Writer for a black magazine back late 60's or early 70's wrote a piece in the magazine about Elvis said this and that at someplace . To find out later Elvis was not there and he never said anything like that . Make a long story short , the writer was told by the head of the magazine to apologize to Elvis. It is said he wrote it out of spite and jealousy .

These are interviews with members of The Sweet Inspirations. If you would be interested in reacting to them, they would probably all fit into one reaction: (1) Cissy Houston talks about Elvis Presley and The Sweet Inspirations (3:40); (2) Myrna Smith remembers Elvis Presley Part 1 (2:36); She sang with Elvis (4:08); (4) Elvis' Favorite Singer (3:34).
