My cats do this as well with anything around their bellies! I think it may throw their equilibrium off for some reason? Not entirely sure but every cat I has walks around drunk with anything around their torso. Glad Gooey is feeling better ❤
I made my own cat onesie few months ago for my cat. I used old T-shirts and find the pattern online. After few tries I got the right measurements for my cat.
I have a senior cat who has been having a harder time getting her liquids in too so, I've started mixing about 2 tablespoons of water to her wet food to help her out. Maybe, until Gooey is feeling better, you can add some water to her wet food too to help her out?
good idea! i always add additional water to my cat's wet and dry food because she doesn't really drink much on her own. sometimes i also add cat soup with water.
always love watching your videos, your voice is so relaxing. btw. some cats just hate being dressed up, and they show their dislike by falling over lmao my cat reacted the same way when the vet put her in one of these onesies after her surgery. she got used to it after a few hours, but the cat of a friend of mine just refused to move in it. oh and just a suggestion, but you should try out a raised cat bowl. my vet told me cats prefer to eat their food that way because their whiskers won't touch the bowl all the time.
The onside outfit is still ok.. it’s normal for cats to react this way for the first time falling down , not able to move etc till they adjust to the outfit.. All my cats did this as well & the same when I was harness training them to walk on a leash.. it was like they turned into stone etc every time the harness lead was put on the but eventually they adjusted and learned to walk on a lead.. my ragdoll cross red tabby boy used to visit nursing homes & eventually he accepted the harness lead & later walked up the nursing homes hallways with his fluffy tail happily bobbing as he walked around the nursing home complex.. All my female cats did the fall down not able to walk when they had a onesie outfit on them.. eventually they started to walk with the outfit on.. As gooey was desexed after she had her first call.. every cat season she will show signs like either being cranky, tail swishing etc regardless of being desexed now.. I have a few cats both male & female cats that where desexed after they had there hormones activated / called & they still show signs every cat season compared to those that were desexed at 12 weeks of age or about 1.2 kilo weight (before their hormone’s had kicked in) … Compared to the early desexed that don’t display any of the typical mating season behaviour signs ( eg: cat calling/rolling on the floor/ trying to mate another cat’s etc .. My later desexed boy & girls cats ( after their hormones had activated) … that are now desexed & as older kittens( after 3-5 months old) or as older cats will still every cat season timeframe will display the typical mating behaviour like hump at blanket/soft toy for the boys & the female will display the tail in the air & coming up to other male cats to let them know she is ready to mate… but for my boys that were desexed at 12 weeks they are like what are you trying to do ( are not interested) etc even after being desexed) ..
i know this may be late since this probably happened days ago, but i just had my kitten spayed and got a similar onesie. they walk around like that for one day because it just feels weird, but you have to pull it up a big. it has to sit around their neck to fit properly so it feels best to them. hers looked like it was slipping down too much, but it didn’t look too tight. mine had a since though around the neck, and i’m not sure if yours did or not. just wanted to confirm though that other cats also walk around weirdly for a day or so, but it’s only because it feels weird!
I think you put the onesie on backward. I have found that an actual infant T-shirt on short-sleeved onesie with snaps is more comfortable for small cats because they don't press against their tails too much.
Cats have like really sensitive skin, or how to say it, and that's because they crawl under and around all the time, so with the clothes on, she thought something was pushing her from all sides. There is this "experiment" (this way definitely isn't a good one, you could probably come up with something better), where you would put just a basic tape on cat's side, and you will see how she will keep moving to the other side, because in her brain she gets pushed from one side. However then taking the tape of is afterwards isn't nice to them.
I just love it when you post vlogs about Gooey. I was actually inspired by you to adopt 2 tabby cats. Their names are Tulio and Tulip. 😁
