The plot takes itself super serious, and everyone acts as Final Fantasy characters, jumping from angst, to playfulness, to overly serious speeches about hope or darkness or will power... and then you have Jack going "BULLSHIT" while other characters try to monologue or pulling his phone out and play heavy metal.
Because while every other character is a FF character, Jack is a generic gritty videogame dude -and this is VERY intentional. Fucking hell, he is called "Jack"; that's the gritty videogame dude default name.

Everything Milky talked about? Totally valid -- the open-world areas absolutely feel like they were pulled out of XIV, it's a little tedious, and the story feels as if there's something missing. The protag doesn't have much to contribute to the group, and even his childhood friend (who also doesn't give much to the group) has more personality than Vaan.
However, I did put way too many hours in that game as a kid. It was the one FF game I could really access and enjoy (all I had was my PS2).
That being said, as soon as he talked about programming the party members, I immediately had to try to remember if the pre-programmed settings were so bad I had to customize them. Because honestly there were maybe one or two times I really needed to fully revamp the programming.
Lmao watching you fight Dragon Zombie was peak stress. If you don't have Chakra for that fight it's even harder.
gotta love how Shenpai doesn't pay attention to details and just rushes in. XD like during the dragon fight her friend told her that you can PUSH THE D-PAD BUTTONS to make your allies use their Mana Bars. lol Also not realizing till now that the Anima shards can be used to grant Exp to jobs. It honestly is funny and I'm not being sarcastic.
Good grief, Final Fantasy Dark Souls looks really darn fun!
