Thanks for sharing! It will be interesting to hear about the quality of the florida avocado varieties from you in a few years.

Thank you for watching my video. I have already tasted some of Florida avocados and I really like it. I have a box of Choquette avocados arriving this week from Sleepy Lizard farm in Florida so I could tasted. Maybe I will do a review on it.😄My Choquette won't be mature untill next October or November of next year. Will keep you updated on my Florida avocados.

Doesn't the freeze kill them in Paso? Also, extreme heat? How do you keep them alive?
Congrats on growing them, that is great!

Thank you for watching my video. We are in Zone 8b/9a. We do have a freeze every year but the freeze lasts only a few hours. It doesn't do any damage to my young avocado trees. If you watch my other videos, I did mention that on Feb 25, 2023 we had snow that lasted for three days and none of my avocados, citrus, and bougainvillea died. I have photos to prove it. The leafs did not even burn. All of the nurseries in Paso Robles say you cannot grow citrus, avocados or bougainvillea in Paso Robles CA because they will die. I proved them wrong. My bougainvillea are 8 years old. They bloom from April until the end of December. I have all kinds of citrus including key lime and Australian finger lime planted in the yard without protection from winter.
All of my avocados survived and are producing fruits. If you have clay soil you have to mix 50% sand and plant on a mound; otherwise, when winter rain comes the trees will die. After I corrected the soil, all of my trees survived. Soon, I will have a separate video on how I dig, mix soil and plant.

My fiancé lives in Paso and would like to grow avocado trees. She has clay soil so your point is valid. Which variety is best for the area? Reed, Hass, gem???

@@joerocha5853 For small backyard GEM, Gwen, Carmen, Don Gillogly. Reed will take year two or three years to produce fruits. Also depending on sizes of the trees she is planting. Those four varieties are capable of producing fruits next year. Watch my video GROWING EDRANOL AVOCADOLS IN PASO ROBLES, it will show my Carmen Hass tree that I planted last year and is producing avocados this year. The best place to buy those varieties of avocados is Southern California Louis Nursery in Riverside CA. It is very hard to find them here in Paso Robles.

I live in Arroyo Grande & have 5 avocado varieties. Gem, Gwen,Reed, Sir prize, little cado. Also a tiny sharwill in a container. Of course the weather and soil is perfect for them.
Maybe someday we could visit your ranch... There is hope for her 😊😊😊...

Do you grow Maria avocado from Everglades? Wondering if it’s the same variety as Maria black

Thank you for watching my Video. I don't have Maria or Maria Black. I do order lots of trees from Everglades Nursery and Lara Farm Miami. I also order lots of avocado cuttings from Tropical Acres Farms. They have lots of different varieties of avocados cutting available to be ship to CA for grafting.
Lara Farm has the newest and latest super large with excellent in flavor and producer call ApMay avocado. I have two trees on order for next spring to be ship to my house. Look up ApMay avocado. It's considered the best avocado in Florida by Lara Farm. Florida varieties I have Choquette, Improved Pollock, Russel, Wilson seedless avocado, Simmons, Monroe, Miguel, Oh La La/Super Hass, Ronnie, Oro Negro, Nishikawa, Marcus Pumpkin, Kampong, Catalina and Dupuis.
