Disappointment vs Regret with

  • Today’s guest is the legendary Angry Dad (aka Mark Orval). He got this nickname from a series of viral prank videos that his kids have uploaded online. Mark's reactions to these cheeky pranks are often…well...angry!
Mark's story is super interesting. He was an up and coming Aussie rules football star who played 7 games for Collingwood until an extremely unfortunate injury ended his career abruptly and when his sporting dreams were shattered, it catapulted him into 25+ years of depression.
By the end of this podcast you’re going to be able to appreciate that Mark is not only a stand up bloke with a great sense of humour but he also has a massive heart and life experience that we can all learn from. I love his explanation on the difference between disappointment and regret.
Two weeks prior to recording this, Mark had undergone surgery to remove an aggressive form of prostate cancer. He told me that he had been crying every day trying to come to terms with it all and it was very apparent to me that as soon as Mark got into my car, although he’s a big strong bloke, everything had happened so quickly and he was still very much processing it all. He had a lot to get off his chest.
I felt honoured that Mark was comfortable opening up to me while I took him to and from one of his first checkups after surgery.
Special Thank-Q to Angry Dad for being a part of this! If you'd like to see more of him, check out Mark's instagram:

At first I thought Mark was always angry like that shown on the AngryDad channel, man was I wrong. The guy realises how blessed he is and therefore he expresses his gratitude by having a true heart of gold, this is why everyone loves you. More people should be like Mark Orval and Darren Levy.

Putting on the kinds of people we need to hear more from instead of people being dickheads and the such because they get more views. Keep it real, keep it genuine, looking forward to the next episode!

I actually thought that the podCARst episode with Nikki was some of the best content I have seen on UA-cam in a very long time but this episode trumps it hands down! Such a frank and honest exchange of banter that i would have paid for a ticket to sit on the back seat and listen to the entire conversation(minus the excellent editing). To Mark I would say good luck with everything the future has in store and to Darren I would say thanks for the terrific content and for being an all round good egg!

Hi Darren.. First i have to thank you for all the great content.. You actually light up my days. You said in the podcast that you at some point in your life was a dick to some people, then at the end you talk about trolls, and online bullying. to go forward as the good person you are, why not stand up, and tell that you are sorry for being a dick? maybe you already have done this private, if so thats GREAT.. Keep doing great podcarst. And i hope that you have an amazing day! greeting from some troll far north of the arctic circle! ;)

I can totally relate to this podcast. I am 73 years old and my w is fe died in October of 2018 and I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in November of that year. I had no idea what was going to happen to me after 6 months of radiation treatments for me to go into remission. It is not pleasant. I then got skin cancer. The next year I had a heart attack and ended up with quadruple bypass surgery, so I have been recovering from surgery and quarantine due to Covid-19’. It has been a bitch for the last three years .
    I know how he feels.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys about this point system or whatever that idea was. I'm of the mind that no censorship should ever be allowed over words. No matter the words or order they're put together. Luckily, I still have the right, to defend that right. So yeah, that's where I'm from. Every culture has their own way of doing things. My culture, is a mixture of every culture in the world. Tons of people move here every day, very few leave.
