simply beautiful, no words can do This guy justice in his creative way of relaying the inner most parts of his heart, mind and soul, out there for the whole world to see... I only wish i could be that brave. Hs music comes strait from the heart.
He literally has become a translator for the violin, although they have their own unique language and it's the most beautiful thing watching him and his violin...it amazes me the sounds he can conjure from his violin- it's a love dance and Andrew Bird is a genius, a genius with respect- there's a mutual love between him and his violin.
As an Andrew Bird fan for give or take 15 years, this year I finally crossed this off my bucket list on this summers tour... and instantly added "one more time" to said list.
Andrew Bird can not be over-rated. His music is like the spirit of joie de vivre. Bonus- his guitar accompaniment, Madison Cunningham, is a fantastic breakout musician in her own right.
A genius. Spirited, brave, protesting in the gentlest and the most noble and beautiful way, one of my very favorite artists, period. I cry, I learn this beautiful language, and I think profound things with him. I must see him live
I was there and it was glorious! The audience went wild after every song and the duets with Madison were quite something! My 2nd time seeing Andrew Bird and I hope to see him again in the future!!!!
I was at the show in Boston a few days before this. I had gone to see Iron and Wine and was underwhelmed by them that evening. Luckily we decided to stick around, and I was absolutely blown away.
Andrew Bird has quickly become one of my favorite artists lately - having had the time to peruse his fantastic material and awesome talent has been a true gift! ☮️❤️🙂🎶😷🎼🤘

Hands down, one of the best shows I've ever attended. I am so, so glad that The Current recorded it and continues to make it available to watch here so I can relive that glorious night whenever I want!
I came across Mr Bird in his collaboration with Mountain and Wine., around two months ago. Luckiest guy on the planet me. He is all kinds of glorious. I so envy y'all in America. UK here.
1st time I ever heard this guy and I really like it. It's not like the usual crap you hear on the radio, not that I listen to crap on the radio that often but, you know what I mean.
You have stolen my heart and returned it to the faith of symphonic love to all planetary star systems. Thank you for your beauty, harmony and artistic vision. ❤️ To you and miss Madison Cunningham’s band. Keep blessing us with your “ Best Work Yet “ May the light of the universe always be with you.
An amazingly talented man with a fine band... I own all of his albums but I;ve never seen him live.. Great to hear music that is REAL music played with such panache.
oh.. and a huge thankyou to THE CURRENT for providing all of us with this superb show...It is now almost 1 a.m here in Brisbane and I've listened to and thoroughly enjoyed this two hour extravaganza right to the end... Keep well.
oh my gosh I absolutely adore andrew bird and the band; I expected to split up watching this concert into several sessions but I ended up watching the entire thing while I drew thanks so much for this concert
It's always Don the Struggle for me. Probably the most talented artists I listen to and yet for me I just can't get over that song, especially the solo at the end.
52:42 [Manifest] Man love the jammy live version, and just what a masterpiece. Finest work yet indeed, but knowing Andy Obtuse the next one will top this yet again!
This is *almost* as good as being there. I was lucky enough to be present at the first show of this tour in Pittsburgh, PA. Everybody's souls dropped into their feet when she began to sing in Lusitania. P.S. Andrew Bird's work on Baskets was magic. He has tapped into his highest self. Much love!
Yesss, I was also at the Pittsburgh show and I was just floored that I was getting to see Andrew Bird at such an intimate venue. We went right up to the very front and stayed there the whole night, and I swear Madison looked over and smiled at us once or twice when they were around the single mic, haha. Just discovered this video now and it was like reliving the experience, what an incredible night that was!
Maravilloso trabajo! No comprendo la letra pero llega absolutamente hasta mí el espíritu de tu música! Gracias y ojalá vengas pronto por España de nuevo!!
It was the best show I have seen live in my life. I am not a hyperbole guy, genuine truth. I am so excited they put the whole concert online. Listen to the Gentle on Mind cover near the end.
Saw the show in Phonenix, the last of the run, fabulous, the band was really the best and everyone played off each other, hope to catch the next round of music!
How is My Finest Work Yet not in the convo for album of the year? Haven't seen anyone talking about this & it's a triumphant musical work. This performance is absolutely stellar too.
Bird's got a solid fan base and has had no problem making a living off of his music, BUT overall he is fairly under-recognized and I think that's partly due to him not caring much about marketing himself. There are people who have put in a millionth of the time and effort into a few songs who get more recognition because their whole musical life is centered around a PR team. Andrew is apparently not like that.
I missed his show in Phoenix tonight so I came here to watch it. I've watched it twice now and I'll always be mad at myself for missing an A. Bird show.
This version of "Gentle On My Mind" (1:49:40) is so good and I love singing along to it, so I typed up the lyrics in case anyone else wants to sing along too. "Gentle On My Mind" It's knowin' that your door is always open And your path is free to walk That makes me tend to leave my sleepin' bag rolled up And stashed behind your couch And it's knowin' I'm not shackled by forgotten words and bonds And the ink stains that have dried upon some lines It keeps me on the back road by the rivers of my memory It keeps you ever gentle on my mind It's not clingin' to the rocks and ivy Painted on their columns now that bind me Or somethin' that somebody said Because they thought we fit together walkin' And it's knowin' that the world will not be cursin' or forgivin' When I walk along some railroad track and find And you're movin' on the back roads by the rivers of my memory Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind Though the wheat fields and the clotheslines And the junkyards and the highways come between us And some other woman's cryin' to her mother So she turned and I was gone Well I still might run in silence tears of joy might stain my face And the summer sun might burn me till I'm blind But not so that I cannot see you movin' on the back roads Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind It's the shadowed creek and autumn leaves that make me turn inside myself in silence Cross legged now I sit and watch the endless chase of leaves across my yard And layin' down my hair brush I lean back within my window seat and find That you're movin' on the back roads by the rivers of my memory Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind With cupped hands 'round a tin can I pretend to hold you to my breast and find That you're wavin' from the back roads by the rivers of my memories Ever smilin', ever gentle on my mind
Thank you so much for typing the beautiful lyrics. I've been a huge fan of Andrew Bird(nearly two decades) but English is not my first language so it's daunting to understand all the lyrics. Thanks to you I could savor the beautiful poem sung by Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham.
I am so enjoying this! To bad I live on the other side of the Atlantic and wont be likely to experience this greatness irl. This is more than wonderful though...

My dog loves Andrew Bird. Nothing hits quite like a whistle solo for a golden retriever.
You must post a video of that.
Please do
Andrew Bird has no "filler" music, every song is a masterpiece and beautifully unique.
Seeing him live is on my bucket list.

@@schteenzor You'll have to keep adding him to the list. An incredible artist!
Same - Lord knows if/when he'll come to the UK though!
I just recently did that in Phoenix! He and Iron & Wine make a good pair.

Caught this show live at the Masonic Temple in Detroit, Michigan.
It was utterly FANTASTIC. Madison's set was wonderful too.

This version of "Gentle On My Mind" (1:49:40) is so good and I love singing along to it, so I typed up the lyrics in case anyone else wants to sing along too.
"Gentle On My Mind"
It's knowin' that your door is always open
And your path is free to walk
That makes me tend to leave my sleepin' bag rolled up
And stashed behind your couch
And it's knowin' I'm not shackled by forgotten words and bonds
And the ink stains that have dried upon some lines
It keeps me on the back road by the rivers of my memory
It keeps you ever gentle on my mind
It's not clingin' to the rocks and ivy
Painted on their columns now that bind me
Or somethin' that somebody said
Because they thought we fit together walkin'
And it's knowin' that the world will not be cursin' or forgivin'
When I walk along some railroad track and find
And you're movin' on the back roads by the rivers of my memory
Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind
Though the wheat fields and the clotheslines
And the junkyards and the highways come between us
And some other woman's cryin' to her mother
So she turned and I was gone
Well I still might run in silence tears of joy might stain my face
And the summer sun might burn me till I'm blind
But not so that I cannot see you movin' on the back roads
Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind
It's the shadowed creek and autumn leaves that make me turn inside myself in silence
Cross legged now I sit and watch the endless chase of leaves across my yard
And layin' down my hair brush I lean back within my window seat and find
That you're movin' on the back roads by the rivers of my memory
Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind
With cupped hands 'round a tin can
I pretend to hold you to my breast and find
That you're wavin' from the back roads by the rivers of my memories
Ever smilin', ever gentle on my mind
I have tears just by reading the lyrics. So beautiful...
