This is about life, man i been down that road. (But God) we have 2 go through somethings so we can be thankful when He bless us. I have been truly bless thank you 4 posting this song.
I've always loved his singing; and have purchased many of Clarence Carters' 45rpms, and wore them out; but is just hearing of this song for the first time. Interesting.
It's shame this was never re-issues a million times.... together with its B-Side "Take it off him & leave it on me". I am just so glad I digitized all my 45s and LPs.
Thank you so much for posting this song: I've been looking for it since 1974! Apparently, Clarence Carter did not find it worthy enough to print it again after the original 45 rpm version came out. You can't find it anywhere, no CD version. Thank you! As far as I'm concerned, this is the best of Clarence Carter and one of the best Soul Music ever sung...

Clarence Carter - The Few Troubles I’ve Had Ré-do La-Ré--Do Mi-Ré Do Mi--Ré! Ré-do La-Ré--Do Mi-Ré Do Mi--Sol-Sol! Now some of y’all I know I told this story to before But to all of you that I never got a chance to tell it to I want to tell you something that happened to me back in January of 1964 Well you see, I was sitting down in my house in Montgomery, Alabama And I got a letter in the mail, The man told me that if I didn’t have my rent in the office by five o’clock I was gonna have to get outdoors I’m just going to tell you all about the few troubles I’ve had, that’s all The paper boy came and he brought me my morning paper And I took it and went inside to take a look at the headlines And you know when I turned on my lamp I found the man just turned my electricity off?! Ha-ha, ha-ha! I was just going to tell you all about the few troubles I’ve had, that’s all Late upon the evening it was beginning to get a little cold outside I went ahead and light my heater. And that’s when I found out the man then turned my gas off too! Ha-ha children, let me tell you about the few troubles I had The only girl I ever loved in my whole life called me on the telephone She said Clarence, lend me tomorrow five dollars You know I didn’t have but fifty cents to my name, Even a hole in it, so she put me down Oh children, let me tell you about the few troubles I had You know, I didn’t have but two eggs in my house to eat for my breakfast the next morning The old cat jumped upon the table and knocked them off and now they’re gone Oh children, much troubles came that day So I just got down my old guitar and decided to sing myself a song I wanted to sing something children that was going to satisfy my soul So while I was sitting there, thinking about all my troubles, Words like these came to my mind I said Lord, why did you make me, yeah, why? I gotta laugh, and I gotta cry I gotta live, oh I gotta die I just, I just keep, I just keep having my troubles y’all Oh when your troubles come, It seems like they come home… Transcription - Dossevi Trenou - March 3rd 2018

Clarence Carter - The Few Troubles I’ve Had
Ré-do La-Ré--Do Mi-Ré Do Mi--Ré! Ré-do La-Ré--Do Mi-Ré Do Mi--Sol-Sol!
Now some of y’all I know I told this story to before
But to all of you that I never got a chance to tell it to
I want to tell you something that happened to me back in January of 1964
Well you see, I was sitting down in my house in Montgomery, Alabama
And I got a letter in the mail,
The man told me that if I didn’t have my rent in the office by five o’clock
I was gonna have to get outdoors
I’m just going to tell you all about the few troubles I’ve had, that’s all
The paper boy came and he brought me my morning paper
And I took it and went inside to take a look at the headlines
And you know when I turned on my lamp I found the man just turned my electricity off?!
Ha-ha, ha-ha! I was just going to tell you all about the few troubles I’ve had, that’s all
Late upon the evening it was beginning to get a little cold outside
I went ahead and light my heater. And that’s when I found out the man then turned my gas off too!
Ha-ha children, let me tell you about the few troubles I had
The only girl I ever loved in my whole life called me on the telephone
She said Clarence, lend me tomorrow five dollars
You know I didn’t have but fifty cents to my name,
Even a hole in it, so she put me down
Oh children, let me tell you about the few troubles I had
You know, I didn’t have but two eggs in my house to eat for my breakfast the next morning
The old cat jumped upon the table and knocked them off and now they’re gone
Oh children, much troubles came that day
So I just got down my old guitar and decided to sing myself a song
I wanted to sing something children that was going to satisfy my soul
So while I was sitting there, thinking about all my troubles,
Words like these came to my mind
I said Lord, why did you make me, yeah, why?
I gotta laugh, and I gotta cry
I gotta live, oh I gotta die
I just, I just keep,
I just keep having my troubles y’all
Oh when your troubles come,
It seems like they come home…
