That was the best and most detailed lesson about the verb "take" that I have ever experienced. I am truly fascinated and thank you so much for your efforts in making amazing and excellent videos, dear Paul.
The verb take, like a few other important verbs in English, is one of the few important verbs that takes on meanings depending on usage. You have explained all the possible meanings of this verb. It was a very understandable lesson, Thank you.💯👍🙏
Dearest Teacher, thank you very much for your explanation. Your job is very very important for a new immigrants who came only in 2024. I am from Ukraine and for me so important to learn English. I imagine that you are so busy, but please if you can find some free time please can you answer me why in this case we write like this " He knows everything " but in this case " He needs to know everything ? " My question is why in the first case " Needs" we put the " S" on the end. But in word" Know" we do not put any " S" . I think that for kids and youngest people who came to the USA before 50 years old and learn English this is more easy and after 55 years old how it is not easy. I have very good degree and worked in Ukraine a nurse, but because my Engish is broken it is not an easy in this age to learn. So thankfully to your work and gratefully for everything what are done and do for us. Please continue teaching us. With respect, Eva
He " *needS* " we put the " S" because " He" it's a pronoun but " *To know* " without the " S " is a préposition, here " *To* " take the form of the preposition. In conclusion, When we conjugate, the second verb can't be conjugated. I'm also begginer but hope you will understand what I'm talking about.
Ева, с местоимениями 3-го лица единственного числа (he, she, it) в простом настоящем времени у глаголов окончание - s или - es. He needs (он нуждается/ему нужно). To know(знать) - это неопределённая форма глагола, перед которой необходима частица to. Тут важно, что местоимения 3-го лица и единственного числа, а не 1-го или 2-го, у которых окончание - s не нужно. I need to know, you need to know. But : he needs to go, she wants to talk.

Или Вам надо найти русского человека и он Вам легко объяснит эту тему. Она простая, поверьте. Здесь, у Пола, говорят только на английском, и Вам пока тяжело, если не знать основ языка. Кстати, и Марьям выше отвечает вам не на русском, да, и не поняла она сути вашего вопроса до конца.

Taker means "taker"...But what does he take? That's right - an interview!
❤❤❤❤❤🇸🇪
Sir please clarify my doubt , how can I understand the given verb is a regular verb or irregular verb
Irregular verbs don't normally take an "ed" ending as past tense verbs or as past participles.
Dear Teacher, I take you point= I agree with you or I partly agree with your opinion. Correct? 🙏
Your point is well taken. That's another possibility. In your example, it should read, "I take your point."
@@LearnamericanenglishonlineOh sorry, I wrote it wrong. ( I take your point.) Thanks
It takes me five minutes to finish the teste.Could I say " I took five minuntes to finish the test"?
It's more common to say, "It took five minutes to finish the test." or "It took me five minutes to finish the test."
However, your example will work.
