In this lesson, we will learn what an exponent is in math and how to calculate exponents. An exponent is a shorthand way of writing multiplication. We take a number called the base, and raise it to a power, which is called the exponent. The base is then multiplied by itself the number of times as is given by the exponent. Exponents are used very often in physics, math, and engineering, because most equations such as gravity, equations of motion, and the like have exponents in the equation. We will learn how to write exponents, how to write the exponent as the product of factors, and how to calculate the value of the exponent for the answer. In future lessons, we will learn how to multiply terms with exponents and how to divide terms that have exponents.
Completely forgot how to do this since I haven’t done math since high school. Thank you for this simple video!
Just wanted to say... YOU ARE THE MAN MATT :) thank you for amazing lectures and positive energy, we need teachers like you. I have problems with studzing via computer or other devices. You really make it easy. Thank you :)
I like the way he explained for you to understand bless you
Thank you so much for your offer,
Anyone can get almost all what you are conducting, regardless of how good or bad viewer background on this subjects.
You are always consider those who have zero background ❤️❤️❤️
You explained way better than my teachers
Amen, even though I'm 66 , I've decided to tackle arithmetic and math again. I know I'm capable of learning and applying this information beyond my childhood experience.
Where were you 50 years ago🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I needed you in MY LIFE BACK THEN!!!! I would have received A's and B's in MATH CLASS😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your instruction!
thank you for this lesson
thank you for this video. I am studying for my PMP exam. This helped me to understand how to calculate the Present value because I didn't know how to calculate the exponent. 👍👍❤❤
Sir, I am just beginning to find out how many quality videos you have done. The ones I have viewed are all excellent and you should be commended for the significant contribution you are making to the learning and understanding of the body of math. One point that is troubling me is understanding powers when they appear in an expression with another operation. Take this example 2^3. If it appears in a simple expression such as 8/2^3 the answer is simply 1, yet if 2^3=2*2*2 we would not be able to substitute it in the same expression without enclosing the multiplication in parentheses as 8/2*2*2 because according to the order of operations, it computes to 16. So, in displaying any power in an expression containing other operations, it is necessary to enclose the multiplication version as a group such as 8/(2*2*2), and the original expression should be written as 8/(2)^3 correct?
I always have problems with maths, but you make it easy. I am so glad to have understand math because of you
THIS HELPED ME SOOOOO MUCH THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH
you are an absolute LEGEND thank you so much
thanks for making it clear
Fantastic explenation! You made a complex subject, look like child play. Thanks!
amazing crystal clear and most importantly fun thanks teach lol
Very helpful and easy to understand thank you!
Very good at explaining thanks alot
Thanx a lot for the simplification of this tricky operation.
Very well explained
THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCHHHHHHHH YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH I NEEDED TO KNOWWWW
Bro thank you so much!
Well explained. Thanks
This helpeddd!!!❤
thank you very much i hope you keep uploading
God bless you
Thanks your explain is good
I love your video so much!!!
Thankyou so much!
THANKS a lot
God blessed you!
Than you if be looking for a better simple way🙏
More statistics videos please
Just came to say that pencil whip with the marker is smooth asf....😂
Hii first comment thank u for the good job

What if it's negative
Hi, I am having trouble in calculating 12 to the power of 0.75
Look up my lessons on fractional exponents. You write the 0.75 as 3/4 then perform 12^(3/4). The 3 acts as a cube the the 4 acts as a 4th root. It’s all explained in my lessons on fractional exponents.
2^2^3=2^(2×2×2)=(4)^2×2=16^2=256.
How about -3³
They recently found a stellar black hole 2,000 light years away that’s 33 times the sun I’m intrigued to learn more about it but I know absolutely nothing about math
I used to think you multiplied the number to the exponents
For all of you out there is there a way to solve an exponent that is really high like a 1k or 1mil like 2 raise to the power of 1000 comment your answer
I was literally just about to review this for a college entrance exam
That great 👌 I will take the GED test online probably this month
I'm on my grandma's phone and I'm in fourth grade going to sixth next year wish me luck
nobody is ever gonna make fun of me in roblox now
Are you in a math game or something?
befor: f+ after: c- yay😊
