Could this have been some silly sibling prank gone wrong? Regardless, it was such an amateurish attempt at whatever it was.
This doesn’t surprise me. Bev’s coaching ability is below standard and this is why she would get Joey Lombardi to do this and as a result him and an assistant has takin the fall. They need to fire Bev ASAP. This is very embarrassing. It just shows you how confident Bev is in her ability to manage. If I obtain info from another teams pre match training sessions it will give me a full indication of what their playing style, positioning, tactics, set plays etc etc. you will be one step ahead of your opponent. That is not being amazing. That’s cheating! We have very talented players on that team and we don’t need to resort to such tactics unless the manager feels inadequate and they need to cheat to win. Again cheating doesn’t make you an amazing manager. She has a talented bunch of women who play a terrible brand of Futbol because of her tactics. We also defend really well as team…yes…because we have very good defenders and because we know exactly what and how a team is going to play against us. People use the argument that match footage is adequate but that’s not at all true because match footage doesn’t reflect exactly what they prepare to do when Playing us(Canada). But pre match training is specific to the team you play against and flying a drone to obtain this info is cheating.
Canada is not the US never forget it. From a proud Canadian. You've never been here so you wouldn't know. We have distinct cultures, media, and identity. US for us is nice to visit but Canadians want to live in Canada.

I’m completely surprised at the number of comments jumping on the bandwagon that the team or coach did something wrong. I would more likely ‘jump to the conclusion’ that New Zealand set this up to upset and distract our Canadian women’s team from playing their best game against an inferior opponent. If two staff did fly noisemaking drones over a practice field they clearly weren’t worried about it, or they would have been stealthier. Canada winning this game was never in doubt. Support the women’s team, they have spent their life working and training for this!

Modern international football is about fine margins, set pieces and being organised in defence. Even lower ranked teams can be difficult to beat. See the recent men’s Euros. So every bit of intelligence is valuable, especially set pieces and formation. This commentator is clueless in this regard dismissing lower ranked teams and playing down this incident. Canada should banned from the competition, this is clear cheating which may have affected the result.
