Japan stays on top of the pitch, just makes contact and puts the ball in play. USA looked like they wanted to lift each pitch out of the park for a home run. Stay on top of the pitch and put the ball in play. Nice game and congratulations to Japan. A well deserved win.
Only recognize about five players on our team. One thing I noticed the entire game, even when they were losing or getting out, the Japanese were usually smiling. They were certainly enjoying themselves. Only saw one USA player smile. Even if stressed and seemingly unhappy, they do look fit and trim. Kudos to whoever the conditioning coach is this year. Maybe they can work on the muscles needed for smiling and having fun. 😊
I love this GAME!! No stupid drama and letting the umpires be UMPIRES!! No technology that disrupts the game and when a decision is made, that's final. I totally respect the Japan and USA teams. Japan is definitely having fun with their base path speed, defensive capabilities, offensive prowess and so many talented women from both teams. What an exciting game. These games should be main stream sports television. The game is worth it!!
Plain and simple, Japan just had to much talent compared to the USA team even if the veterans played this Japan team. Japan out played in each phase of the game. Japan is taught to see the play (ball) before it happens that’s why they have low percentage errors. Always in the right place to make the play. Solid.
Hey it's "werido" nice to hear from you again too. Someone commented earlier about why a teams of rookies. Perhaps apart from international experience and development, it may be a strategy to not show your full deck until the world champs. Have a great day Kip😊@youcanttakemyDIGNITY
Japan looked much more disciplined. USA just didn’t look good at all. Pitching, hitting and D all looked weak compared to the way the players just played this last season.
It’s unfortunate softball and baseball are no longer part of the Olympics. I hope this sport and baseball returns to the Olympics someday. It would be cool to watch for sure.
@@allyyy_ann I didn’t know that, so the Olympics committee decided to bring softball and baseball back? How is softball going to be played in OKC (Oklahoma City) when the Olympics will be held in Los Angeles California in 4 years?
This was the only team in the world that I feared for our women: The Japanese! Our pitchers were average, so their sticks were hot. IMO I think they hit better because: (1) The home run is not a real option TAUGHT in the Japanese mind. We hold the HR in too high esteem. (2) Size - and speed - matters. (a) Japanese have organically very few big girls (5'7 - 6') but many small but fast girls. (b) So the training focus is not slaps, but hits thru the gaps. Look at the numbers: How many people actually get on base with 'slaps'? Bunts? Rarely. Mostly the very fast. Average speed, no. (3) Because of (1) and (2) above, the Japanese are taught 'swing focus' - WHERE? will you hit the ball? In America we are taught to 'just hit it'. Then hope our better hitters actually hit it somewhere. (4) Their pro leagues are more developed than our college 'farm system' - SEC, ACC, Big 10; Big 12, etc.. The US pro leagues don't even compare... yet. For the future, I think our developing pro league will push/pull our farm system to be better. The concept of making a living in softball over 10 yrs, is still a relatively new thought process and is NOT viable here in the US... yet. Right now we win - when we win - it's on talent alone. We don't have that sense of perennial dominance that the Japanese have. Finally, when we make the natty champs OU our 'average' standard of the pro league, then we are on to something.
Those women from Japan are solid base runners, too! Really smart and aggressive base running and solid hitting, especially into the gaps like you mentioned won them the game. It's so interesting to watch these different approaches to the same game.
I 'very never seen so many infield errors from the U.S. The Sooners defense would have done much better. Japan does get alot of hits. I didn't see Jayda Coleman or Riley Boone out there either. They would have made a big difference. The Japanese hitters don't have alot of power hitters. They got several singles a few doubles that should have been prevented.
Japan seemed to have a pyschological edge over the US team...playing loose...smiling...while US players seemed very uptight! Always happy to see the US lose at anything...just saying!
this is just my opinion but I’m kind of bamboozled as to why the elite squad had most rookies and the second team had more vets, I think the series would have gone better for the veteran USA team but i’m so glad these rookies got international experience
Japan has a good team, but so do we. I have never seen a worse umpired game, the strike zone was clearly different for Japan than the US, Canady got NO calls and the Japan pitcher got everything. Skylar Wallace was about to blow a fuse and Canady was clearly frustrated. The Japan players were leaving the bag in the middle of the windup on every base they stole, catchers had zero chance to do anything. This series was set up for Japan to win from the start. The US should never play in this exhibition again if it’s going to be like this.
Are you blind? She is the best catcher in US softball, and she had no chance to throw out any runner, they were leaving the base WAY too early every time!
Just one overweight girl on Japan’s team on the field. Wow the size difference is so in your face, it’s just sad. And do you think USA could find a better DEI pitcher to start the game.
MATT!!!
Man! You bring me to tears! Didn't even know this game existed, but you got it!! LIVE? FROM JAPAN? You are Da Man!!
Matty came through again!!..Nobody could find this series!..Matty did!!
Thank you for your support.
Japanese team is really strong! Really fast and smart players.
They are incredibly smart. USA found a better coach to compete with them. We tried to bunt and they turned it into a double play in the Olympics. 🤦♂️
insanely fast it’s crazy
What a beautiful place to play! Great game!

I love Asian culture. They are so respectful and happy all of the time.
Can’t even go to softball highlights without some guy telling girls to smile more, holy hell.
Japan is popular with their Softball National Team since 2008
Thanks Matt … keep up the great work….
Matt you just earned a whole lot more of respect from me for posting this video 💯🔥👌🏾
The OU ladies that went 61-1 would own in international softball. That team Patty assembled might just be the best team to ever play the game!

skylar wallace still on goat status. K9 should play first and let jocey own the plate. japan looks good and plays hard and usa just looked ragtag.
K9 is the best catcher in the world! Jocey can play first base.

Hey thanks Matt for covering international softball too. Aren't we fortunate as nobody else seems to give a rat's. Is this the Japan Cup btw?

That’s how Japan is. They are always really disciplined. The only pitcher I’ve ever seen baffle them is Cat Osterman
@@ethntrrsKelly Maxwell did well against them. Fanned 11 batters.
Should've just recruited any of the last 4 Sooner teams. They would've rocked the Japanese.

アメリカ相手に勝てたのすげえな。。立派だわ。
Geez they have Alo worked out. Throw a change up, she can't hit it. Same in other game.
Very blurry for 720p60 resolution
maybe chill out a bit. Japan was cheerful. Well maybe its easier to smile when you're winning. They gotta relax though.

I wonder what the Japanese words are for “We whipped the Americans badly”!
Why in the hell did the coach for USA pull Maxwell and put in a pitcher they were hitting like a punching bag ? coaches fault they lost .
Japan roped all the pitchers. I dont see the US beating Japan. They can hit.

Canady was overhyped through the entire WCWS. The Japanese team exposed that easily.
