Interesting to see you placing the mast arms up without the signal heads. The crews here in Nebraska I saw put the signal heads on the mast arms on the ground and lifted them on the pole from there. More rham one way to skin a cat for sure.
Some cities like mine for instance, don't allow any fixtures mounted for more then 10 days without power. Depending on how long the power company turns on we have to do this too
This is for the Traffic Light Dr. Do you collect any old fashioned traffic lights for you self , I have a 1940's era four way pagoda style traffic light with a few smiley face lenses
Great video! I would love to see video of the conduit being pushed through the ground. LA DOTD is upgrading their signals and it ha me wondering how it's done.
I really appreciate this video. So many times, locally, when I've seen new signals going up, I ALWAYS miss getting to witness this step. I've seen some companies put the signal heads on the mast arm on the ground and then connect the mast arm. Do you find it's easier to install the signals before or after the mast arms are attached?
Your comment is the reason I love sharing what I do! And installing them would speed the signal process up but slow the mast arm installation down (especially on a windy day) the mast arm install is a bit more dangerous so we try to quickly do that then take our time making the signals look perfect!
@Trafficlightdoctor Thanks for taking the time to share that! I appreciate you, sir. Oh yeah, good point. I bet those signals, especially with that shroud, are like wind sails. As a motorist that pays attention to detail, thank you for taking the time to adjust and make the signals look even, level, etc. It drives me crazy when signals are crooked, turned, different heights, and so on.
When converting an intersection from a spanwire to a mast arm, is it common practice to reuse the existing signal heads if they’re in good shape? When is it determined to replace the existing signal heads? Does it depend on what the municipality wants to do with the equipment that’s already there?
No, mainly because you generally get all the new heads mounted and set up while the old ones are still in use, and then quickly switch the entire intersection over from the old system to the new system. The old system then gets taken down and refurbished/reused elsewhere if it's in good condition.
You love the look of these eh wonder how you feel when drivers take em out. I watched a new pole go in by me and a week later it was gone cause a truck decided he didn't like it there, well that's what I was guessing by how far he drove till he noticed the metal arm was still with him.
I don’t! Between that and merch I really want to look into getting it done but I don’t have anyone that helps me with this besides filming at times and between work, family, and the content creation it’s a little much!
Where I've worked police do not direct traffic or assist with traffic control for signal work. We used Parking enforcement when needed to direct traffic while doing signal construction or repair and that is usually when we would black out a intersection or put it in flash and traffic is heavy. For this situation, We would do what he is doing in this video, but just a little different. Police also use Parking enforcement when traffic control is needed for themselves.
Awsome vid keep it up
Thanks Man!

I have a couple! I rent where I live at the moment so I don't collect to much!!!
I like those terminal blocks inside the vertical pole!
I love these design of the mast arms! They remind me of ones in California. An upgrade over the span ones that look so dangerous.

I have a couple videos with it in it! Should have a longer video on the channel with the boring machine on the thumbnail check it out!
@ I’ll have to go back further. Watched the last two months…but may have missed it!

@ thank you sir! I’m a nerd and can’t wait to finish
Mast Arms with Bolts are obviously Stronger than Cable swinging in the Wind. 🤔👍
Interesting video. Would the police have directed traffic at that intersection if it was a busy intersection or had heavier traffic flow?
very nice, but i ask how long does the new traffic light poles to last like getting rashed and replacing in the future?

You guys should have a flagger's sign (slow/stop) to control the traffic.
What determines whether you use a mast arm vs a cable? I think mast arm looks and works better.
Just curious, is there a torque spec on all the nuts you guys use?
Better music today. 👍🎶
Curious, why don't you guys don't use stop flags?
Addicted to your videos lol.. Do you guys have a website?
I don’t! Between that and merch I really want to look into getting it done but I don’t have anyone that helps me with this besides filming at times and between work, family, and the content creation it’s a little much!
I didn't know you need all of them vehicles to put up a red light
11:32 were those temporary poles?
8:13 The police go by and don't care at all to assist with traffic?
I was confused by that 2. Where I live there’s always a cop with a crew if they are in the street
@@Project_Storm1999 Same; I believe it's the law around here to have a cop.

In most of New England, flaggers are not allowed...police gotta make that OT money
What, they don't raise and lower? Then what's the point? Put in a roundabout.
11:47 WTF are those object marker signs???
I noticed that too. The stripes on the bottom one are the wrong direction. They should remove it and just leave the top marker.
@@chrisduprey7283 No, they're all going the correct direction, it just looks weird because normally chevron signs are a lot wider.
“Guy” wire/anchor, not “guide”
how come yall dont use walk talk
