    Brock,
    Thanks for not leaving us hanging with the incomplete video. Good job with the comparison. I have a 2008 2520 that is perfect for almost everything I do. I rarely want more tractor, but have thought in the past while watching your videos that the 2038 might be the sweet spot!

    • @RockhillfarmYT
      @RockhillfarmYT  Рік тому +1

      I think the 2520 would be similar to the 2025? Just a few years older
      You get some more capability with a 2038 but it’s always a question if it’s worth that extra money to upgrade or better to keep what you have.

    This video shows that I don't know myself very well. I thought that it would be a boring video, but I watched it because I watch all of your videos. Well, it turns out that I was wrong. Nice comparison, and to have another person in this particular video made for some additional entertainment value. It wasn't all entertainment, though. Lots of good information. I liked your interview technique, too. Good job!

    The smaller tractors are perfect for many jobs. Ideally I'd have one under 30hp and one about 50 but that's a lot of money to have sitting in the shed.

    I never had any complaints about the roll back angle on my JD 4720 with 400cx MSL loader. Out of curiosity, I did some JD owner's manual spec research on the roll back angle of the 220r loaders: NSL = 34º; MSL = 30º. For reference on the current 4 series 440r loaders: NSL = 33º; MSL = 38º. It would appear that JD kind of missed the boat on the rollback angles of the 220r MSL vs NSL loaders. And yes, a NSL loader's "effective" rollback angle quickly increases as the loader's booms are raised. However, the operator has to know to manually "dump" the bucket as it is raised higher and higher with a NSL loader to avoid spilling material out the back of the bucket onto the hood. This is entirely possible, albeit with a lot of herky-jerky motion of the loader's bucket. With an MSL loader, you only have to control the single boom lift/lower function as the load is raised or lowered, which is a much smother operation.

    I enjoyed the comparison. We had a 2025 here at school a few weeks back doing some work on a bush hog. I really liked that tractor. It would have been a better fit for me over the Kubota BX.

    I have a 2032r and love it. The only issue I have is the key placement and the 4×4 leaver and Diff lock are to close together. I have knocked it out of 4×4 trying to step on the Diff lock!

    I have had a 2017 1025r moved up to a 2019 2025r TLB. I look at the 2038r when on the lot. The key features I like about the 2038 are the larger lift capacity and option for 72”mmm. If JD ever makes a 2038r with factory cab that has ac/heat I probably will not be able to say no.
    My 2025r I did bump my pressure up to 2600psi. and that did help with lift capacity. Eventually I might do some shopping at hydrosplus.

    Awesome video, I only have 2.3 acre. I was really a 1025r customer but the beefer 2025r had a lot of upsides, worth the $2000-$3000 more. Yours is a definite step. If I had more land I’d be looking at the 3 series, makes sense.

  • @nicholasproietto2500

    Seems like the guy with the 2038R is one of these "look at me my stuff is better than yours". Made comments about the other guys chain saw etc. An apples to oranges comparison at best if you ask me, as the 2038 is obviously a bigger, stronger, tractor. If that's what you need and can afford, great. Many guys don't need that big a tractor. I've got a 2025R, amd it fits my needs perfectly. Anything bigger is just not required for what I need.

    hey Brock thanks for sharing your video. if you had it to do over would you have stayed with the same size tractor or would you have purchased a smaller tractor or a larger tractor than what you currently own?

  • @tfunkhou88
    @tfunkhou88 Рік тому +1

    Nice comparison…I was debating between the 2025r and the 2032/2038. Even though I wanted the larger tractor I couldn’t justify the extra $10k tractor cost, plus the higher cost of implements for it. I love the 2025r and so far it does everything I need.
    On a side note, the only time it hasn’t followed the front tires at full steering lock has been in 4wd…but I also have filled rear tires, I wonder if that could have an effect. 🤔

    The diff lock was engaged on the 2025r. Weather it wasn’t set right at the factory or your foot was on it, the diff lock definitely looked on.

    • @tfunkhou88
      @tfunkhou88 Рік тому +2

      That’s the other thing I was thinking about. On my 2025r I can crank my steering all the way and it follows the tires

    • @jeremyj612
      @jeremyj612 Рік тому

      Yep. I’ve got that issue from time to time on my 1025r. I think mine is adjusted right on the edge. I’m in and out of 4 wheel drive all the time, and every now and then the diff lock doesn’t disengage when I come out of 4x4. There’s adjustment that can be made on the brake linkage but I haven’t played with mine yet.

    2025R gen 2 loses to gen 1. Gen 1 comes with a more capable H130 FEL. It has a stronger three point hitch lifting force. It has separate breakers on rear tires. Not to mention the more capable 270A backhoe (which wasn't part of the test). I have a generation one 2025R, and wouldn't want to "upgrade" it to generation two. Honestly, what John Deere were thinking downgrading 2025 to a heavier 1025? It would've been a much tighter comparison of 2038R vs gen 1 2025R...

      Couldn't agree more. The 2025r gen 2 seems flimsy

    Have never driven a 2025R, but thoroughly enjoy my 2038R. My main complaints aren't that different than most reviews I've seen: the key position is bad (have now bent two keys in 6 months, even having long, bright red tags hanging off of them) and the tool box/glove compartment is too small. I am wondering if others have difficulty disengaging the parking brake...I have to really push that button hard, and sometimes actually reach over to do it with my right (dominant) hand.

    • @ruslankadylak2999
      @ruslankadylak2999 9 місяців тому

      Kick the brakes harder, while trying to release the parking. Should help.

    So, before even getting into the video. I have a 2025r and the 2038r is twice the tractor. The 2025r gets me by. But if a person's budget will allow. Get the 2038r. That said now I will watch the video.

    My lawnmower is better than your lawnmower!
    I wish you play farmers would quit calling overgrown lawnmowers a tractor. Small tractors have 28” rear wheels and 45 hp… like a JD 5000 series…about right for a garden, tedding hay and light mowing….FEL pick up a pallet of block or feed. You live long enough you’ll learn.

      Nothing better than looking down on people that you don’t even know because of the equipment they own… Pretty sad really
      I’ve also got a skid loader for larger tasks. Doesn’t make the tractor useless.

      I know this was 11 months ago. But this is one of the most unprovoked arrogant comments I’ve read in a long time. You think people who buy smaller tractors are play farming? Who said they were even farming. My goodness. You probably inherited acreage and equipment. Most people
      don’t have the money to just go buy a JD 5 series tractor just to impress you. And why would they? And here’s something astonishing…maybe they don’t even need that size tractor. I bet you always buy the biggest model of anything you buy. What a loser…
